hello everyone. I've just started playing Lineage2. And I came across very annoying question. Which character to choose. I'm kinda confused. I don't like Magicians - that's 100%! I want to play for either assitant in combat or strong Damage Dealer.
Could you please help my, by providing STRONG & Weak features of a character YOU are playing for??
As for me, I hasitate between Gladiator, Phantom Ranger. Warsmith And prophet.
please help. Thanks!
Pro:
You're a DE
Vampiric Rage and Empower are wanted buffs, always, everywhere
Your heals and buffs provide interesting gameplay for duo-party-clan interest
Con:
After 40 you ain't doing much solo
You can't pvp unless you really really want too
Hawkeye:
Pro
High crits, good hp, good damage output
Good pvp chance
Con
Kiting all over the place
Needs buff to truly shine
Warcryer:
Pro
You have party-buffs for every type of player
You get your buffs later then a prophet or an SE
You can do melee-ranged-assist
Con
Your buffs cost a lot of mp
You are not a healer
Scavenger
Pro:
You have tons of mats, recipes, stuff to sell or craft
High hp, cp and excellent for polearm party's
None of the classes you listed are even remotely similar. I don't claim to be an expert, but this is my take on those classes:
SR = you are ranged dps (very popular class atm)
Gladiator = melee dps, heavy armor, slower than other melee dps
Prophet = buffer, between buffing most I have seen use duals to melee or a bow
Warsmith = low dps, slow, horrible in pvp, but saves you money making your own shots.
Forgive me but what is "dps" ?
I thought that Gladiator should wear Light equipment at 52+ (doom light +3dex!) and not heavy!! (besides, at 40+ = plated set +4 str is light too).
A bladedancer can be a strong dd if setup right. He wont own in 1v1 pvp, but in group pvp he is loved for his dances. His dances are 2 minunte dances that are great buffs for a party in pvp and pve.
At 76+ they are gods of mass pvp. They can take an entire party into a dungeon to hunt your enemies, and you wont have to worry about mobs. You will get an aoe skill that stops your enemies from doing anything for 15 seconds. BDs are loved by all. They are support classes that are esentual to group pvp. They are needed by every xp party, and they are just all around loved by everybody.
Although all BDs hate eachother, and all sws hate every bd and vice versa.
Prophet:
Pro
-Always has access to good fighter buffs
-Can solo in heavy gear
-Relativly easy to find parties cause everyone wants buffs
-Dont have to sit on your behing to regen mana
-Does alot of damage (for a buffing class)
Con:
-Depressing after lvl 56, no new decent buffs
-Not enough stregth to deal as much damage as DD class
You might want to look into a Blade Dancer if you want a "assitant in combat or strong Damage Dealer" cause thats what my freinds BD is...
My friend created a Blade Dancer... he was 15 lvls bellow us and did more damage than us >< It looks like an amazing class, does alot of damage and asssist party members with dances. No problem finding a party ;) Dont know how good that class is in PVP but its **** good against mobs
Gladiator Pros:
- Best special skills in game (strong).
- Has dual sword mastery, and also regular sword mastery
- A very fun class to play
Gladiator Cons:
- Slow running speed (hard to catch mages and archers)
- Low Magic Defense
Phantom Ranger Pros:
- It's a ranged class :D
- Does ton's of damage
- The female dark elf is hot :p
- Great at pvp
Phantom Ranger Cons:
- Hard to find groups (my opinion :p, but you rarely need one)
- Everyone and their mother is a range class
Warsmith Pros:
- Fun to play
- Very useful at higher lvls (sieges, create items)
Warsmith Cons:
- Not wanted in parties
- Slow to level
- Average in player versus player (pvp) combat (Anyone see that video of the tournament where the warsmith was kicking *** :D ?)
Prophet Pros:
- Pure buffer (best buffs in game)
- Versatile (Has heavy, light, and robe masteries)
- Can solo better than the rest of buffers/healers
- Does good in pvp for a support class (Hvy armor, dual swords, self buffed, and with root and sleep)
Prophet Cons:
- A more and more rare sight (People use them a lot as buffbots outside of parties)
- Level pretty slow
- At lower levels it is hard to buff a full party
Suggestion:
Start with a Phantom Ranger :). They are great damage dealers, can solo pretty well, level quite fast, and have great skills. Plus they're great at player versus player combat.
My Prophet is a main and unless you want to basically just heal & buff everyone and thats it DON'T go healer route no PP no SE no SO they are healer groups & when you get higher it makes it very difficult to solo & basicaly they are a support class you support others with buffs & heals & they support you to hopefully your next level hehe :) GO BD all the way and good luck on your decision!
Forgive me but what is "dps" ?
I thought that Gladiator should wear Light equipment at 52+ (doom light +3dex!) and not heavy!! (besides, at 40+ = plated set +4 str is light too).
DPS literally means 'Damage Per Second', it's generally used for classes that do lots o' damage.
As for the Doom Light, sure, it's an option, it really all depends on your playstyle. I'd recommend using BW heavy though, STR is more important for Glads than DEX and the difference in p.def is quite significant.
Pro's:
Solos at low levels with no problem.
Pole solo in most low areas is really fun!
Ability to craft someday in future.
Get's involved in lots of funny conversations.
Fair amount of hitpoints comparatively (and you'll need em all)
Cons:
No assist magic or spells.
Runs pretty slow.
As expensive as better DD's to outfit.
About as welcome in most groups as a [censored] in church.
At least one of the absolute worst and most expensive class change quests in the entire game (WS).
Looks like others could say more positives and less negatives about your other toon choices.
you want BD trust me
good offensive class that solos better than almost any non-mage out there
good buffs (although they last for only 2 minuets) and wanted in archer, melee and mage groups
i really couldnt justify playing any other class at the moment
Agree. What the OP really wants is a Blade Dancer. A really cool class. Has the best of both worlds: not only is a powerfull support buffer that is wanted in literally every party out there (nukers, archers, melee - you name it), but also a very strong Damage Dealer. Heck, often he can even tank.
Or you might try to be a bit original and go elven SwordSinger. More defense oriented, but also has a song that doubles party's critical chance. Also can freely choose his weapon (a BD must use dual swords - but also has masteries for them, which combined with Dark Elf naturally high Strenght and Dexterity + offensive BD dances makes them very respectfull DD).
SWS with the Song of Wind and selfbuff WindWalk 2 are also the fastest class in game. Are very useful in parties also - but fewer, as they are not needed in nuker parties. But every good archer and melee party should have one SWS. Be warned however that they do not deal as much damage as BDs and are significantly tougher to level. And they may have a tough time finding paries before level 49 (when they get the Song of Hunter).
If you really like melee, then you might try orc Destroyer. This is a nearly unstoppable offensive powerhouse, as far as melees go. Great skills, brute strenght and vitality of a titan. Also has a variety of options open: can use a two handed sword, pole, blunt, sword, even a bow. And is great with each of them.
About the classes that you listed:
Prophet: don't. Unless you want to become a buffbot that casts his buffs every 20 minuts and then sits his bottoms and goes read something. Also the best buffs get maximum effect at 56, so he doesn't have much to look for. He does have some limited solo capacity, but it's not really good.
Warsmith: only for dedicated players that love to solo. Not wanted in any party. Weak damage output. Gets better with the golem, but without buffs still not very good. But can earn adena at high levels. My advice: stay away.
Gladiator: a weird class. Not what they advertise it to be. A real master of arms - duelist class is the orc Destroyer. Gladiator is a class that does some magic-like tricks to shoot projectiles from it's swords (but obviosly not as powerfull as real magic). Always low on mana. Very durable. Slow. To be honest, a BD has similar damage potential and i think is much more fun to play (but lacks gladiator's durability).
Phantom Ranger - if you like archers, it's a cool class. I don't. Compared to other archers is rather fragile but packs a serious punch.

Got that woolanoow ??? You should look into that class. I know it wasnt in your original list but its deffinatly worth you looking into it.
My first toon (dark elf fighter) was to become a Blade Dancer... unfortunatly I gave up on her around lvl 30.... and now I regret making that choice cause they kick *** latter on.
