Some people i'll never understand...

Here's the story : you decide to get a Hatchling so you can raise it to become a Strider (because you love mounts and you think they're really missing in this game), so you take the Little Wing quest, run everywhere around Aden, almost get killed twice in Enchanted Valley, and finally you're able to get your almost-Dragon pet ! You're real happy, you find a nice spot to summon it, and here it appears ! You name it with a carefully-thought name, you start to take screenshots, basically you're here minding your own business and having a cool time, and then, all of a sudden, a stupid *ss comes out of nowhere, throws some fireballs and kills your pet !!!!!
I was lucky to have some Rez Scrolls for Pets, so i just waited for this ******** to go away and i rezd my pet, but what's the point of that ?
Sure, i know HiEverybody will say that Lineage is a hardcore game for 3l33t people and i should go play WoW, but i dont have a problem with Lineage being the way it is, i just dont understand why some people enjoy ruining other people's fun...
Man, these dumb*ss should really get a REAL life one day or another...
no i wont say that! I say that to people complaining about pvp. You are clearly asking why people grief, but not asking for griefing to be disallowed. I can tell the difference!

I do grief people but never pets cause pets are a lot harder to lvl. The reason I do it is cause I get bored. Lets say I got done with a 6 hour pit party, and I just want some pvp. I'm not going to go out and start a war with somebody, so I love on my lvl 37 alt and just start flagging until somebody flags back.

Anyway... I don't have a perma red anymore... but I do enjoy low lvl pvp. It is the one time when this game is balanced. Unfortunately nobody else really wants to pvp at 20-65, so I am forced to flag, grief, train, taunt, pk, harass, and mock people until they finally flag.
Maybe think about others once in a while.

If it's that hard to get them to pvp, maybe they don't want to. I know you do but it isn't all about what you want all the time. Maybe in exchange, you'd like to reveal what others can do to tick you off and ruin your gameplay so that more of us can do more of that.

Have a nice day.

If they don't want to pvp they don't have to flag.

"Why did you pk me?"
"Cause u didn't flag"

I don't get upset very easily. :(
consistantly dropping a bomb on hieverybody would probably thoroughly ruin a pvp day if..... pking hieverybody ever chance he got to walk outa town actually happened..

I myself never flag back, i've never found a good ideal time to do so. Cause 99% of the time there is some group right around the corner ready to drop my *** or the person flagging is roughly 10+ lvls higher then me...

and lately, being a malee, it just common sense that if an archer or nuker flags on me, there just no point, i'm already down to 1/4 my health typically.... i wouldn't get within 20 feet of them before they figured out i was coming for them. And even if they let me flag... one more nuke is all it takes, and typically a aura flare will finish me off...
Most people don't flag, man I've tried. Today I was hunting in a small corner near IT, and someone kept coming in my range (about the 900 spell range of hurricane) and attacking mobs I had targeted, so any time they came in range I KS'd them. They finally told me to stop KSing, I told them to stop, they said they were there first.

I laughed and said so what and they said don't target my mobs. And... that was it. I told them to stay away from me and they did. No one is any fun I swear.
Im sure id act like an *** if i had 1000+ cast speed and could deck you in 2 shots lol.

But no im an EE, im not allowed to be aggressive =( people have to protect me ><
Don't always think just cuz your a healer you can' have fun and defend yourself hehe I've got a Prophet and she's set up for both grouping buffing & eventually going to try pvping with her even if I'm just meant for buffing & healing LOL :)
How am i spose to PvP? i dont have Emp/Focus/DW/Guidence/Haste/BtB/BtS/Acumen/Zerk/MagiBarrier etc etc

Why are all elf classes cept SpS/SR/ES so crap? Just because they popular doesnt mean they have to suck.

*sigh* but i soldire on, im not going to be SE clone #285734
LOL as a human and not an elf I'm not exactly sure what skills you get but you can always work it out some how and even if your not built for pvp you can set yourself up to be scary looking nuker & maybe by the sight people will leave you alont LOL (don't hold me against that) Some people have actually told me that it works heh

no i wont say that! I say that to people complaining about pvp. You are clearly asking why people grief, but not asking for griefing to be disallowed. I can tell the difference!

That's right, i dont ask for any changes in the game, i like the mature aspect of it, but i sure as hell dont understand how it can be "fun" to ruin other people's play !
Are these people so frustrated with their real life that they need to take their anger to a computer game, made of animated pixels ? Man that's pathetic...

I do grief people but never pets cause pets are a lot harder to lvl. The reason I do it is cause I get bored.

Oh, so it's a known thing in the Lineage world, to kill pets (or characters) at random, and it's called "griefing" ?
And how is this "fun" exactly ?
If you're so bored like you said, turn off your computer and do something else dude ! Read a book, watch a DVD, play a real RPG with friends, get out of your house and go see a movie, go to a restaurant with friends, go dancing in a club, do whatever you have to do with someone from the other gender (or the same one), how can you tell yourself "i'm bored but still i'll keep doing this thing that's boring me" ??!?!

I'm not going to go out and start a war with somebody, so I love on my lvl 37 alt and just start flagging until somebody flags back.

Ok, so this part i dont understand, what's "flagging" ?
People use this expression all the time but i dont know what it's about !

Unfortunately nobody else really wants to pvp at 20-65, so I am forced to flag, grief, train, taunt, pk, harass, and mock people until they finally flag.

What can i say ?
The open PvP in Lineage is a great feature, but "with great power comes great responsability" :D
What i mean is that, for example if you get into an argument with someone, the argument could ultimately end up in taking out your sword and i think this is great, but i absolutely dont see the point of coming to someone you have never met, never even heard of, and kill him...
I'm trying real hard to find some sort of interest in that, but... no, sorry :p
I think if you want to be a pker or a griefer - you have to distance yourself from the people you are harassing. Yes, people pk because they "get bored," but I sometimes think it is more than that.

I had an elven wizard around the gludin/talking island that was a perma-red quite a long time ago, probably in c1. I at first killed normal people. But getting a pm that cries "WHY DID YOU PK ME <Sobs>" is enough to turn me off of it. I don't like seeing people getting hurt.

You argue that it is a game, but I argue that people put time into it - therefore, when you waste their time, you are hurting them. I think griefers either like to torment others, or have distanced themselves so that they no longer care.

Which is interesting, because most pkers (regular pkers, that I see more than once.) Usually do not answer pms. Coincidence?
The line between 'griefing' and 'pking' gets a little hard to see when you're staring up at the sky.
Since in my 4.5 months in game I've ALWAYS been pk'd by players in higher gear--or 2 players--lmao, once by 4 players in C-grade when I was wearing D-grade at lvl 34! Hell, at 37 my poor knight was killed while questing by a nuker in B-grade--complete with taunting and derision!!! (a REAL hero imo)
Does "EQUAL pking" ever happen?
I've sure never heard of it. I KNOW I've never seen it.

So, how is pking somehow the 'vaunted definition of all that is challenging in L2' when it almost always involves the unavoidable death of the defenseless? That sounds an awful lot like griefing to me........
Drakkos, I think the people that exhibit the behavior you describe simply get a charge off killing another player. They aren't really looking for a challenge, they just want the high they get from killing someone else's toon.
I don't go out of the hunting grounds that I would xp in to start fights. I don't bring a lvl 30 to elven village and i don't bring a lvl 50 to eg. I fight appropriate lvls cause it is a lot of fun when people fight back. It's hard to get people to fight back, so sometimes I pk people so they shout "red in eg" then I get all sorts of people to come and fight me. :)

Sorry, but you make no sence here. PvP can easily be called "griefing" for someone who does not like to PvP.

Even if they are in a 2 way war AND have a clan hall, so they loose less than 1% on death(with CH rez), at higher lvls, that still amounts to hours of lost XP cause someone wanted to PvP and you flagged back.

The more people PvP/Pk/Grief/Train, the more NC is happy cause the more time you'll spend recovering you lost XP and moving on.

Yes it does happen. I've done it a bunch of times. I've even pk'ed a few higher than myself. Eg: They start harrasing you(you clanie/friend) so you start attacking them. They then no longer attack you for some reason. You do not stop. Viola. You got yourself an Equal(or higher) lvl PK. =)
try to understand the logistics of what happened first
the guy killed your pet that means he gained karma (possibly not a pk point)
once someone is red they are fair game. kill em
either they pk you and gain more karma and a pk point or run away or you kill them
How am i supposed to kill someone thats shoots my pet with just 2 fireballs when i'm only lv36 ?
I dont call this "fair game" really :p
Anyway, can someone please answer me, what in the world is FLAGGING ??? :)

Untill this post, I enjoyed reading the things you post. This one ****** me off.

My turn.

You Try to understand this: in the above point, no where in it, did I mention anything about a PK of your PET or the OP's pet. I don't care about specifics, actually. My above post wasn't even directed at the OP.

My statement was vague enough to encompass Pets, sure, but it was mostly aimed at Player Played toons. Try reading between the lines for a change.

Most perma-reds are nakked. So they can be easily killed by most unless you're a healer/tank maybe. Even if they are much higher lvl than you are. Now if they wear grade appropriate gear, then killing them maybe a problem. I play a Ranger, it does not much matter to me. I also don't care about killing reds in NG gear. Now if someone is in C/B/A grade and is red, I'll try to take them.

Flagging is when you or someone else goes purple. Say you're happily grinding away on your favorite mob. Someone comes up and smacks ya. They are now purple. You smack em back. You are now purple. You both just flagged and are ready to go at a PvP round w/o going red.

now you try to understand...
when i reply to msg i click whoever is last on the thread
have no idea what you are talking about but try to understand nothing i said is in anyway relevant to you and i think that should have been quite obvious
Its not good to make directly adressing posts and then replying to the last post, instead of the post you're adressing.

Quoted for the Truth.

That way, things are kept on a much more "Sane" level and people know what is meant and to whom.

Sry for jumping the gun. But as Chaos pointed out, I assumed you were for some reason lashing out to me.

fair enough
my fault for thinking everyone knows me by now ^^
cant understand how anything in my post, even directly said to you could be offensive in anyway

Ok i get this, it's indeed a good way to get cool items if they drop them :p
But if you're white, and you take someone who's red, will you become red too ?

Finally i understand what "flagging" means !!! :D
So, when you're flagged it kinda means you're in "PvP mode" rather than "PK mode" right ?
And one last question : if we're both purple ("flagged"), do we drop stuff when we die ?

But if you're white, and you take someone who's red, will you become red too ?

If someone is RED, they are an OPEN game. You can do anything you want to them without any penalties to yourself. Open Hunting season :p

Right. When you're purple, you're in PvP mode. If you and someone else take a Chrono weapon and start hitting each other with them (1patk FTW), you can stay purple for Hours.

However, if you're hitting someone who's purple, but they aren't hitting you back anymore, eventually they will go back into a WHITE state(30 secs or so). You will still be purple, but if the opponent reverted back to white and you kill them, then you just PK'ed him, rather than PvP'd him.

You don't drop anything when you PvP. If you do, petition it as that would be a bug. Also, if you're white and someone PK's you, you don't drop as well. If you do, petition it.

Only when you are RED with over 6PK's, you will pop like a Christmas tree - Including your Weapon, can and will drop. Depending on how sucky your Luck is that day.

Forgive me if this is a silly question, as I'm new to the game, but you also drop items when you die at the hands of a mob in regular PvE, correct? If so, anyone have any numbers on what the percentage chance for that is, etc? (And sorry to derail the thread a little, your post just reminded me of something I'd been wondering about.) :)
In PvE, you can drop anything and everything(except your equipped Weapon. If you are Red, you can drop the weapon too). % wise it's all random.

basically you're here minding your own business and having a cool time, and then, all of a sudden, a stupid *ss comes out of nowhere, throws some fireballs and kills your pet !!!!!

That happend to me with my cougar. While i was parking him on the road out of agro while killing mobs some dagger user came by and killed it for fun. I was lucky and saw that soon enoght so he was red and i did follow him. When he did start to attak a mob i could catch up and nuked him to death.
All i said "Never touch any of my clans pets again" and did leave .

Err... you should clarify that there are no game penalties imposed... You attack anybody in my clan (and I assume most other clans) when they are red and that is an act of war, and we would treat it as such. Running around killing tagged reds in full gear is NOT a very smart thing to do and will get u kos or /clanwar really fast.

What is it with you people and your double meanings? The poster was obviously talking about game mechanics, not your politcs. And how co9uld he possibly know every stupid rule a clan makes and calls it an act of aggression?

Final note, 6pks and over you are going to drop. The way one of you has it reading is over 6, non inclusive.

I'm bored...

And I know he was talking about game mechanics. But the person asking the question seems to be new to the game... and saying "Happy hunting!" when it comes to reds is poor advice at best. I just want the person who asked the question to know that reds are not really considered an ffa, and to not randomly attack them, or he could get into a lot of trouble real fast.
Point taken, but I am not really sure that is a factor for him yet sub 40. Those are really more clan guidelines, not lineage guidelines. I am sure he benefitted from both views though.

Lol this is happening to me now. Some stupid red was killed by somone in my clan and they declared war over it. I'm actually excited cause now I can kill some (and die to some) without going red or them having to flag back :D.
