If an E-Mail tells you to "click on the link below", they really mean "delete this mail now without clicking anything".
Other than Forum registration, I have yet to see a single VALID mail, that is asking me to click on some link for any account stuff.
Valid mails always ask you to go to the account site, WITHOUT giving you a link in the mail. If you use a browser and enter the URL by yourself, you can be sure, not to be redirected to some fishy thing.

Unscammable Kitten
someone signed me up using the email in my profile. so i stopped using it.
post your account email on a any number of forums, or put it in your infos on one. I have 3 emails...2 only get used for my 2 accounts and nothing else/not listed on boards either.
Any e-mail that threatens you with dire consequences if you do not 're-validate' your information is phoney.
NEVER click on any URL in such mail. These phishing scum should be jailed.
Also, any e-mail from the 'surviving relatives' of a 'former offical' in Nigeria, is phoney. There was a cute site documenting someone stringing these folks along by inputting Capt. James Kirk's info, complete with his photo from the movies!
