It is, by the way, worth going one ring in further from the ring where you first find the giants: There are no other social or aggro mobs in the "harder" ring, so you can just run from giant to giant on your hunt for the book, very handy. :)
Actually, there are agro mobs in the third ring. There are agro mobs in every ring. The Water Giants themselves are agro and in the third ring there are either Blade Stakato Drones or Theeder Pikers (I dont' remember which is in the third ring) that are both agro AND social.
Yep, been in all rings and although they all aren't social to each other, enough are aggro that you can't ping between giants. That would have been nice though, as GOE is completely deserted on Kain.
I hunted for my word of fear book there a few days ago. There is a ring which contains Undines (not aggro), Eva's Seekers (not aggro) and Giants (aggro, but that's not a problem) only. It's between the ones with theeder stuff and blade stakatos.
Hmm, I might have been comparitively lucky for those two hours - but I'm not too sure. Either way, I was doing almost exclusively giants. Mages with daggers are a joke at low levels, and it only gets worse when the mobs you're trying to hit are either evasion type (undine) or use curse chaos. ^^;
