Guess I'll stick around a while longer and see if any other "software" companies get the smack down. Credit where credit is due: this was posted by Technique on Blah Bartz forum.
lol why linemate or what ever its called sue the other 2 major ones then after that go after pee-ons. I always thought NCsoft could sue over that. Not to mention the adena sellers who are really selling property of NCsoft. Remeber you dont own the account you rent it and everything on your account NCsoft owns. Its kinda like going to one of those rental places renting a TV and selling it. Its not totally the same but **** close.
Now MMO companies are thinking about including a time limit for every player because of the no life phenomena, and the first to ask for it is the Chinese Gov .
They 're really scared by the way online gaming is growing in the country.
Once you've spent your time credit, all your skills and stuff work like crap, and you end up wasting you time and putting your character in danger because of your sudden weakness.
This is coming. and fast.

And I welcome it. No normal person plays 24 hours a day, the max I can see someone playing is like 18 or 20, but if your in that category you need serious help. If it happens once every other week or month, its cool, but not every day.
So this should only affect automated people. And to those who say I pay $15 a month I should play as long as I want, screw you. Your just saying that for the sake of arguement. So don't. If you trully play 20 hours a day then complain otherwise don't. This will solve a lot of problems.
But what about the people leaving their afk stores over night? That shouldn't be allowed either and this will solve that problem too. If your not at the computer and your playing, your botting. So it's illegal. Even afk shops in my opinion :p.
AFK shops is really thin ice ... being unable to sell while afk would screw many things. Lineage2 is not WoW, adena and items do not grow on the trees, XP gaining is painfull, atop of that - no afk shops and no auction system, cannot imagine that pretty well here.

And why shouldn't this be allowed?
A limit on how long you can play is okay imo. But it shouldn't start counting down untill you leave town. Often I'm logged in, and doing other stuff, just to keep up with what's going on. Like having the game running in the background while I'm browsing the internet or watching tv. That should not count as playing. So in town: clock is stopped, out of town: clock is counting down.

If that's the logic you use then 3rd party software is thin ice too because of the impact on the market.
AFK shops should be considered illegal. You play lets say 4 hours a day like me, then you go to sleep but leave your computer on to sell your sword. I play 4 hours a day, I turn my computer off to go to sleep and I can't sell my sword. The bot owner plays 4 hours a day, and then leaves computer on over night. I only see a similarity between 1 and 3. Not 2. So I stand by what I say.
An afk seller has an advantage over one who doesnt. And dont say y dont I leave my computer on too cause I can come back and say y can't the bot user leave his on without the risk of being banned...
People with top of the line computers and internet have an edge over people with crappy computers, so should it not be allowed to play on a top of the line computer?
Anyone can have an afk shop up over night, if their connection and computer (or mom) allows it.
Or do you think only bots leave shops up over night? I don't know what to say to that...
