I actually have one elven wizard level 28 and now im getting level with a dwarfm level 20.

What i came to discuss is...Is it the SSD price fair?
Why im asking that? Well...let me explain.
to make a cargo of 156 dss we have to buy on material trader soul ore 325 each (if i go dwarven vilage its cheaper, like 285 but the gk price gets into), and the D crystas that are getting TOOOOOo expensive. Today in dion i only found crystals per 700a each.
Considering these values, we get 200a on each cargo of 156 dss...but remember....at least 5 minutes or more are needed to get mana full again, what means, 200 adena per 5 minutes...
killing mobs we get much more...
so i ask one more time...is it fair 12 adenas for ssd? or better...is it fair 700a per crystal?

craft bluebuckskin shoes and blow them.
buy any random d grade item and blow it.
D crys is not hard to fix.
this site even have the crystal count for almost every item ingame so it´s really easy to count what crys value you would get from a certain item.
get a dwarf to 20 and craft ure own ss, not hard at all ;)
That works too, if you can find a steady supply of crystals, then its good, though be aware that getting enough crystals can be hard.
I used to do Swords of Revolutions and got crystals at about 300 adena each and c-crystals for about 1900a each, very cheap, but they became harder to craft now.
Well the ss market isn't good for people who don't have a lot of funds to start with imo. Ya see... If you go to dwarven village, it costs you like 35k round trip? And you might have enough money to buy 100 ore so you barely make up the difference of a teleport... but if somebody goes there and buys 100m worth of ore... that 40k the difference in price doesn't matter. So until you can buy enough in dwarven village, just buy it in dion.
As for D cry. You can either buy d grade items cheap and crush them, or you can set up a shop and buy d crys. If you set up a buy shop, it will take longer, but you can save a lot of money.
This is what some dwarves do, so they can sell dss at 11a and turn a profit. If you can't sell at 11 and are forced to sell at 12a. Go to heretics catacomb and sell for 13-15a. You will make more and cover costs, but you risk being killed.
DSS production is only really profitable if you do it in bulk

Making SS is not a very effective way to make lots of money. 700a is way too expensive for Crystal D. I basically go check prices in Giran. Take the Cheapest D grade Weapon, check Stratics for the amount of crystals it will make and then you can see how much they will cost each. I think usually you can get them for anywhere between 600a- 660a each depending on the tax rate.
I usually make a port out to Elmore for the Soul ore, but I make it worth it. Take in the Cost of porting to and back at 9K and as long as I buy ALOT, then I'm good. Try to maximize your profits. Grab a Calculater and figure the cheapest way to do this.
Some may not like it, But I usually sell for 13a each. I also only sell when I go to bed though, and they are usually gone when I wake up.

It is. Also, look around for people selling D gear for cheaper than NPC prices (usually lower-end D gear). You can buy these items and crush them as well. You really, REALLY need to know NPC prices of items. Take a trip to Giran, make a list and write them all down.
Buy Elven Jewelry in Giran and crush it. Much cheaper.

It's been a while as I stopped selling Shots and started playing the market instead.
At some point it was just a lose lose situation.
The amount of shots I had to craft in order to make what I considered an decent profit was just too much. I started doing more shot crafting than leveling my main. Not to say I don't do it anymore but only when I need a small influx of money and am doing something else where I can push the craft button until my mana runs out and then do my other activity.
I think it was something like 637 adena per crystal (but this is a bit fuzzy for me). I also remember an earlier discussion on what was the best item to crush and Elven Jewelery seemed to be the top contender. But again, this was a while ago.
I'll have to do it tonight and get back to you on the exact amount.
SSD is not a way to make money - it's a public service you render to the community. ^_^: The guide which promotes this is four chronicles old and almost as outdated.

okay, here's the fair thing to do.
Create a dwarf and grind it to level 20, then do the class change, then create your own SSD and use it yourself or sell it for 11adena.
This seems fair to me.
Me personally, I just deal with it b/c I don't want to spend the time to level a crafter
Playing the market (which I suxx0r at), crafting for profit and then manoring. :)
You will probably have to manor (or grind repeatable quests/reroll with shared gear) at least a bit first to get the money needed to do either of the above, though.
You'll need some money to invest first. What I'm currently doing is buying coins (Coin of Magic 40-60 quest) for about 2mil, then turning them into a FP helm and sell that for something around 3mil. Pretty nice profit, I reckon :)
There are, ofcourse, many more ways to 'play the market', pay attention to Economy in school :p

And to the OP: If someone has given you a very specific tip on how to get an item cheap and then sell it on for higher on a public forum, you can forget it: Others will read it and undercut your profit.
You're supposed to buy items, crystalize them, then use them to make ss/ sell crystals ( overpriced ).
Just keep a site/ spreadsheet open with items and their crystal values ( and a calculator for that matter )... so you can be sure you're always maximizing your potential profits.
And don't be afraid to haggle down... even if it isn't by much. Every little bit adds up in the long run.

Oh please, do you honestly think the <0.1% of the total playerbase who reads this thread will go out and do exactly as I just described? I'm just giving the OP a general example of playing the market.

Yes - two or three other people doing it is enough to push starters who discovered the niche by themselves out of the market. I've seen it happen on bigger niches than FP helmets.
And no, I wasn't talking to you OP (can't remember name yet).
With the rising costs of gold wyvern (at least on my server) Demon Gloves are no longer more than even marginally profitable. I would personally buy them on the market over buying them with coins, the chance of a good deal is simply better.
i runned a lot throug towns today...and could only figure that selling crystals that comes from weapons bought in private stores its a good way to make some adena...

The people that mass produce shots use a recharger. I know I can make 50k SSD in a fairly short time (about 1 hour, maybe?) of just screwing around and recharging with my SE (no rock on the recharge button :p).

Ok, an Elven Necklace (d grade) costs 143,750 and yields 227 crystals. So about 633.26 adena each.
An Elven Earing costs 107,410 yielding 169 Crystals when crushed. So about 635.56 each
An Elven ring costs 71,645 and yields 113 crystals when crushed. So about 634.03 each.
Here is something else you can do. Crush the items for D crystals and sell for about 650 each. you will eventually sell all of them but it might take a little while. By doing this you will undersell those selling for 700 but you will still make a profit.
Artisans don't really make "real" money until the higher lvls.
And wouldn't you like to know how hard they are to lvl at higher lvls!!! One of my former clanmates got his Dwarf to the lvl to craft A grade. When S grade came into the game he decided to lvl the dwarf again to take advantage of that crafting.
dont craft dss its useless and even a healer wearing ng could earn more adena hunting than you could crafting
if you are stuck on crafting SS for profit (this will vary from server to server)
go to giran
buy A crystals from the cheapest shop you can find
buy soul ore from the shop (giran cause its prolly the cheapest)
find someone private crafting *** and make that
sell *** for 1a less than everyone else
doesnt really matter what you pay for A crys or how much you pay for private craft 99.99% of the time that would make you 10x the adena
DSS is a sick joke left over from C1 to tease low lvl dwarfs into thinking they make adena
i used to make a lot of money buying gold wyverns for 1500-2000 then selling the demon gloves/boots for 600k or more. not quite as profitable now since gold wyverns go for ~5000 and demon gloves for ~1.2 mil on devianne. this wouldn't help you anyway since you aren't high enough to do the coin quest.
the best way i made money was constantly doing the wishing potion quest. i got quite a few heart of paagrios when they were rare and sold them for 4.5mil-8.5 mil each. they are common now so this wouldn't help either.
i don't know much about the manor system but you should read up on it. i hear it's the best way to make adena now. i don't doubt it considering the ridiculous price of materials now. it's probably like printing money.
D crystals worth is based on giran tax usually: 633 w/ 5% for instance.
10% tax for ore from giran would be still ok than going to dwarf, orc villages.
Any weapon/armor/jewelery sold in NPC shops price is based on crystal count. This said: it doesnt matter what you buy: you always get the same price for a crystal.
Later when you move to C shots; buy 2 swords of revolution, combine, crush.
Later when you move to B shots: craft Black ore jewels (recipes and mats are easy to come by) or [same w/ adamantium] and crush.
A/S grade: setup buy shop for green stones and buy crystals from mammon trader.
That's all. Slow, mind crushing process to acquire adena.
