I just wished to share a great moment that i had today, when, for the first time of my life, i took the boat from Talking Island to Giran Harbor :D
Being a Dark Elf i never really needed to go to Talking Island, until my 2nd Class Transfer quest taht i'm doing now (and which is excellent, makes you run all around Aden !)
I met some new cool people onboard, saw the landscape with a different perspective, it's actullay very fun !
The more i play the game, the more i realize it has been designed to be played slow, and not, unlike some people say, "get to the endgame as soon as possible, get top-grade gear and PK everyone" :p
So, being an almost-not-noob-anymore, here's my advice to new players : take your time !
The less money you get at the beginning, the more fun you'll have, cos the game is designed that way ! You dont have enough money to teleport ? Fine, just run and explore the world of Aden, or take the boat and meet new friends !
(the only part where i dont quite agree with myself :p is about the gear, try at least to get decent armor and weapon from friends or from adena-gaining quests cos otherwise the leveling grind is boring as hell)
Ahh.. that reminds me of the time in prelude in the elven ruins where me and another human fighter and a mystic were discussing what we wanted to be later without realizing it might actualy happen someday.. good times :)
The mainland was also something mythic in those days.
i bet after you made like 20+ over 40+ chars you take the teleporter ^^ i rerolled so many times i HATE the second proffesion QUESTs, and yes cus i rerolled so many time i don't have a very high level but hey its fun ^^
Wait 30 min for the boat to arrive. Wait 10-15 min while the boat is docked. Wait 10-15 min while the boat in en route.......
Well, that's exactly the idea !
That gives you plenty of time to talk to other people while waiting for the boat, while on board, while looking at the landscape, etc...
I love boats (in L2). One of these days, I'm gonna take the boat between Rune and Gludin, whichever town I'm closest to. I've taken the Innadril Pleasure boat twice; it's quite nice :) But I do wish that it was a bit more spectacular looking. It looks exactly like the other boats :( Shine it up a little! It's a pleasure boat!
First time I went, I recorded the whole thing, but when I viewed it, I was standing on the bottom of the sea the whole time >< I haven't viewed the video from the second time yet. I hope the recorder didn't crap out on me that time :confused:
At least your boat didn't sink, lol. It actually did once on our server. Thats the first time I've ever seen a boat sail at the bottom of the ocean, rofl.
Our TI boat captain also once had enough of it all and literally turned the boat around then slammed it right into the cliff by Gludin. I gotta post the screenshots of that someday, too bad I was too stunned to click the record button.

Heh, that's somehwere in the back of my agenda aswell, we should take it together sometime :p
I sailed around the world (well as much as you can in this game) the other weekend. Went from Rune -> Gludin -> TI -> Giran. Took me three hours and 14k lol! Or I could have just paid 24k and gone straight to giran... but wheres the fun in that huh? :P
Still havent done the innadriel pleasure cruise... that will be next on my list of things to do.
The last time I was bored I walked to the deepest area of the mithril mines in dorfland.. that was actually fun! Id never been much past the first two rooms before. That place is MASSIVE!

Yeah, I was surprised by that too, needed to go there for the first class change quest to gladiator.

then you havent rerolled enough times. i dont mind the second profession quests, and i've done em for over 20 characters altogether.

My boyfriend and I both despise the TI boat. One time I had to take it I ended up being COMPLETELY UNABLE TO STEP ON BOARD. He's been physically ejected from the boat, gotten halfway to where he was supposed to go and the server crashed, fallen down between the gap of the dock and the ship (Mind the gap!) which had him ranting that while he IS a wizard he isn't that skinny and the boat shouldn't try to eat him. He later became utterly convinced that the boat has to be the biggest source of death, even over Antharas.
LOL I remember my first 20 lvl on TI. I wondered what the rest of the world was about. It finaly came time to go to the main land. I bought my ticket and sat down to wait for the boat. In the mean time my son started crying so I went to check on him. I came back later to see the boat disappearing into the sunset. Oh well I'll wait for the next boat. Ahhh finaly on board after waiting for what seemed like forever we finaly started moving. It was awsome bright sunny sky, the ocean air, what a great experience. I thought wow i'll look around and see what different views I can see. Oh no I got to close to the edge and splash. Now this is the first time I had been in any water over my head. trying to learn how to swim I just kept going deeper and deeper into the water. Eventually that little line above my head ran out then to my suprise I see. 11 hp from lack of air again, and again, and agian. Oh my god what do I do. The next thing I know im dead suspended in the water with my bone helm floating to the bottom of the ocean. Bam im back on TI. The next time time I stayed way away from the edge of the boat.
A while later I needed to go to TI so I took the boat back. But the boat got grounded on the rocks way away from the docks. I had to swim to shore (much better swimmer now).
