Well, im new just started 2 days ago. I have a lvl 15 DE mystic and a lvl 15 Orc Fighter. I am planning on either leveling into DE SH or Orc tyrant.
Now my problem is, that personally, I enjoy playing the Orc fighter. I told my high level friend that I changed from DE mystic to Orc fighter and he said you will regret it, as noone needs Orcs in groups. He said in groups, it only matters if you are a tank/nuker/healer.
So I went back to my DE mystic but got bored quickly. So, should I just stick at my DE mystic and reap the rewards of groups later, or go back to the class that I personally prefer and face having no groups when the time comes.
Also all this talk about tyrants getting nerf'ed isnt helping me make up my mind. My friend says he will give me some cash to kit out either character so thats why I need to make a decision now.
Just ask your self, would you still play the game in a month from now if you " have" to stick to a char you get bored with every single day? Don't think so.
Imo you should play the char you prefer to play your self.
As for the group thing, if you hook up in a active clan they will take you along no matter what class you play.
I am a Destroyer and I have a SH. I love my destroyer even tho it was hard to stick with because he seemed so weak. My SH can solo pink, sometimes red mobs. My Dest might live thru a solo of that type, but would need a long rest afterwards. It was irritating to see how much more effecient other classes were compared to my Destroyer. I kept with it tho because every Destroyer told me I will become powerful at lvl 60
When I hit 58 I felt an increase in my worth and was happier with my class. When I hit 60 it was very cool cause I was outputing some nice damage. When I hit 62 I am absolutely in love with my Destroyer and very happy I stuck it out for the past year. There is a new excitement in playing my Destroyer and I can't wait for more levels. People like to group with me now and like to see me activate Rage+Frenzy+VS and "Destroy" 3 rooms in Martyrs with my Dragon Slayer.
SH was fun, solo's easy, levels easy, don't need anyone, always wanted in a raid, and can PvP - all this from D grade up. I like the SH, but even tho it took a lot of time a work my Destroyer is more *me*.
I would suggest you take the SH a bit further, maybe up to level 25, when you get BtM. Then see what you think. If you still dislike it at that point, try the tyrant up to level 28 when he gets bear totem. If you like that, well, you've found your calling.
Oh, as for C5, they've changed the tyrant update a lot. As it stands now, I think we're going to have to wait and play it to see how it works before calling it a huge nerf.

Agreed. It's way too early to give up on the SH, unless it's really not your playstyle. Melee classes are much more fun to play, and easier to level (no downtime with heal pots)) from 1 - 40. In my opinion ALL mage classes are pretty boring until you get to your 2nd class transfer. After you hit 40 and have access to weapons SA's and better armor bonuses, you'll see why most people enjoy playing an SH for the most part.

I don't really agree with the 1-40 melee thing, using body to mind I can go for hours with no downtime using Vampiric Claw as one of my main nukes, no healing potions at all. Due to lower consumption of shots I can load up my weight limit with bsps and go for much longer then my shot burning melee classes.
Also pre 40 mages are prime candidates for raid groups which are a welcome change from the mind numbing grinding. From 0-34 i'm still in no grade robes (got a staff of life tho), and i intend to keep going in no grade till 40. I can afford gear, but I don't see the need, +15% cast speed on NG set FTW. My dark wizard has been a heap of fun so far so I wouldn't say its boring.
It really up to your playstyle tho, point and click nuking can put you to sleep but at the same time swinging away and killing at a slower speed can also put you to sleep.
