Well, in Keorea server, the GM announce the name that they banned whenever they ban someone for using 3rd party program. Since NCsoft US is following what Keorea do, why are you not doing that? Why is that so special that we have a seperate rule from Keorea?

In Korea privicy laws are much different. NCsoft in Korea will not be sued for printing the first 3 letters of a characters name. It is the same reason they use Korean ID numbers to activate their accounts. In the US we are prohibited from asking for Social Security numbers.

Then how about the next best thing? Korea announce the total number of player they ban, why are we not doing that either?
I know you said you been busy banning players, but can that be some kind of announcement in game everyday on the numbers, I am sure that won't vialate any security law here in US. I understand that here you cannot give names, but at least give the numbers like Korea do.

More than likely it will just be met with "oh there's NCSofts latests made up numbers".
You know why people are saying that, because NCsoft has build up a very bad reputation (lol, but it is true) about not doig anything to the older player. But you know that is a good step toward changing the reputation for the better.

I would personally welcome a daily announcement with the server announcement screen, but I doubt it would do much good. People would just [censored] more (all who say this speak from experience).

the biggest problem is that even if they did ban chinese and korean IP ranges, they would still proxy through and their botting utilities probably dont take a lot of bandwith like the real game does so it wouldnt even matter.

Actually you can get biometric thumb readers for about $20 at walmart now. :P
And you wouldn't need one with every timecard, just include them in the main game box, and offer a list of ones that are also compatible.
...of course privacy laws probably also exclude fingerprinting your customers. XD

Hmmm I would like ot challenge this.
In your own Terms of Service you state that the characters are owned by you not the player. The player only pays to be allowed access to your server. So how would you shouting out that "HopXXXX has been banned" be a violation of privacy laws? Granted if you said the players first name, or real life name yes now your pushing it.
Since there is no connection to a players real idenity and their in game name, this has nothing to do with privacy
Dailey announcements wouldn't mean squat to anyone, since you would still see the same toons in the same places day after day.
I don't know why this subject continues. Actually I do but after almost 2 years I have pretty much given up on the issue. I just play this game the best way I can. Until another MMORG from NA comes out with graphics as good as L2 then im gone.
