Zoom **** usage in NA L2 (gm response please)

General Discussion Started Last reply 92 posts
This started towards the end of C3 but people are blantly altering their l2client to remove the max zoom out range in NA client. The excuse they use is that it is allowed in korea.

The thing gives a really big advantage in PvP esspecially pvp in areas with alot of uneven terrian (hotsprings, Forest of Death, Blazing Swamps) and Sieges its huge advantange to people using a hacked client.

Now i have reported the use of the zoom **** several times even sending screenshots people post using it (with their toon names clearly displayed) However they still use it freely and nothing is done. Now shouldnt it be simple to do an intergry check of people's clients and anyone who has altered their zoom files should get banned isnt this what gameguard was designed for?

Its really getting to the point where i feel only thing NCSoft bans people for are Languange and bad toon names and harrassment.

If you allow the zoom **** then change the client to allow everyone to use it not just a select few who are using it now.

I really like to know NCSoft's policy on this and how come its not being combated at all.
Totally agree.
The zoom **** is sadly totally client side so undetectable. Screenshots are not really good evidence sadly either.

NCSoft dropped the ball when in their zeal to outlaw other harmless graphic patches they simply ended up making the process of hacking the tool all that more popular and once someone has already done that, zoom hacking, clipping, etc. are only a few more touches away.

I don't think NCSoft can really do anything at this stage sadly :(

The so called 'zoom ****' has been around since Prelude and i'm pretty sure that was also the time were it was most used. However, given the advantages it has i'm not surprised if it would be still widespread. It's not allowed in korea as well.

So if i create a screenshot with you on it using some sort of zoom **** you get banned? Unless people post it here, it doesn't prove anything.

If people bother to manipulate the files, they can also change the check value. Besides i could come up with alot of thinks NCSoft could easily do, but doesn't. But luckily we got a dedicated thread for that.
btw you can detect things like that. ego shooter use that type of detection for years now. checking hashes of files is one of the easiest jobs to do.

-andy
Lineage 2 doesn't have anything like that. So like I said, undetectable.

gimmie 5 mins and ill create a file to detect it
dont even need the source code
By doing what? scanning all the files for changes? do you have any idea how long that would take especially on slower machines.

By doing what? scanning all the files for changes? do you have any idea how long that would take especially on slower machines.

Why would you need to check all files? If all you want to check is for changes like the zoom ****, you need to check one particular file for one particular change. If that file does not contain what it should - whammo.
Yeah, It would only need to check few .ini files and thats it.
Could as well just hardcode these things into the client, we arent supposed to change them anyway so why make an ini file for it?

But i doubt that they will even bother with it, just like they dont bother doing anything about bots.
10min to change the packet encryption a bit and the bots would be gone for a few days atleast but i guess we will have to live with it or just cancel our accs.
They need to increase the zoom range, very close right now. Also they need to put into the options to check or uncheck the right click mouse. I know many people use the zoom file just for this. Right click is annoying in so many ways to many people. Why this isnt an option yet, and no on the translations for C5 is beyond me. People have asked for it from prelude.
They should really increase the current zoom limit. I often find myself wanting/needing to zoom out just a little more. I think if they did this, a lot less people would be using the zoom ****. There's always someone who wants to see the entire world of Aden from where they're standing, but I think a lot of people just want to be able to zoom just a bit more.
You can see further fully legitimately by playing on a more narrow client (window mode). You'll get the same amount of side view, and the zoom distance will be further extended to fit.
I do play in windowed mode.
Yeah, I meant a narrow window - like the opposite of widescreen.
I don't know how to do that... :o
Uhm... grab the edge of the window and drag? :p Like you do with any other window.
I don't get it... :o I can't strech my game window any furter... It takes up my whole screen. What do you mean?
Make it more narrow at the side. >_<

Like instead of 800*600... make it 400*600.
I'm PM'ing you, as to not continue the hijack. I hope you don't mind.
Just for the record, NCSoft already checks massive amounts of files for changes. Every time you patch, it checks at least the impacted files. Every Chronicle they check just about every file in the game. Incidentally they dont need to do a true comparision to verify if the file has been changed. There is an unobtrusive, and quick method of verifying if a file has been changed, and this is what the updater tool probably uses. It would detect if the zoom **** feature has been enabled.
But does it report back to NCsoft what has changed? I don't think it does.

Yes... everytime you patch thats why you just start L2 without the patcher after enabling the zoom **** or whatever else you might want to use.
I just can't believe that anyone cares enough about this to want to BAN people over it. That's almost as stupid as banning someone for interfering with a RP event. The zoom **** is not what gives people a huge advantage in pvp, In-Game "Banned Program" is what gives them a huge advantage. They have alerts letting them know when anyone comes around, they can see your hp/mp, they can auto-pop heal pots, etc. THAT is a huge advantage. THAT is what people should be banned for. I pray to God that no one at NCsoft even lifts a finger about this zoom thing because if they do, then that's just one finger less we have dealing with the real problem.

Sorry but I think that this is the LEAST of all the problems in L2. Of all the things they could ban people for... I mean, ban people for scamming, ban people for using the nude patch, ban people for buying adena, ban people for getting powerleveled in bot trains. There's tons of things they could ban people for. So PLEASE don't waste any time on the zoom ****... at least not till the other stuff is taken care of.

ban people for using the nude patch

What the hell? a nude patch is alot more innocent than a zoom **** is and doesn't in any way shape or form give any advantages in game.

ban people for using the nude patch

This is possibly the most harmless patch of them all. -If this is how people get their jollies, fine by me. It doesn't help them win over me in pvp.
The zoom **** does give you an advantage in pvp. You can look over a hill (and what not) to see if your enemy is there, while they can't see you. This I do not like.
Well, it gives an advantage AGAINST those that uses the patch, lol.

PK: "Ha ha! Dwarfcrafter, I have finally cornered you and I will kill you now"
Dwarfcrafter: "Strips to his speedo's"
PK: *goes blind and screams in pain*
Haha, self-sabotage :)
The nude patch may not give any benefits in pvp but it is a violation of people's rights. Obviously there are some guys out there who don't respect women and don't care whether other people are using this, but personally I find it highly offensive to think that there are guys out there that could be "getting their jollies" off my naked toon. Saying it's harmless is like saying it's harmless to set up a video camera in a girl's locker room. Absolutely no physical harm is done to any of those teenage girls, but we still send the guys to prison for it. I realize that this is a game, not real life, but guys who would use that patch show the same lack of respect for other people as those guys who do that kinda stuff in RL.
I'd say those two things are very different. Especially because our characters are animations - not real.
Male toons are naked too, if you have the nude patch, yeah? What's the difference?

I should note that I'm female myself, and I really don't care if my toon is naked on another person's screen.
But I suppose that if some people are uncomfortable about this, it's worse than I thought. Though I still think that nude patch is lower ranking on the ban list than zoom ****, since it does not alter actual game play.
Peoples rights... not to be seen naked via a nude patch?

I don't remember that line in the Bill of Rights.
You character is not real life people. And ****, you're playing the wrong game, characters in this game has very attractive/sexually arousing clothes on, hell, the "naked" version of darkelf INGAME looks like a dominitrix, heck of alot worse, lol.

It doesn't "violate you". This is the most redicilous thing I have ever heard. And hell it has absolutely nothing with "respect" of women or other such nonesense.
I think just the opposite of the OP. NC should allow zoomhack. For that matter, NC should allow every config the Unreal engine can support. Even the "banned programs" should be allowed. Every one of these hacks address a game flaw. If they didn't, they wouldn't be needed...

Despite saying so you obviously do not realize this is a game, this is all about fiction and you are not your toon. If you compare a naked, generic character modell with a living person i have no idea how anybody can help you. Let me guess you also believe that ppl playing ego-shooter equal serial killers?

If you're so afraid that your toon which looks equally to like 10.000 other toons could be seen naked, how about not running around naked? As far as i know the patch only removes the standard clothing if your character in fact wears nothing.
While I myself do not have this "patch," I have heard of it, and seen it in other MMO's in the past, and all it does is remove the generic clothing your avatar is seen in without any form of visible armor equipped. However, if such bothers you, then think not of it, because for those who might be using the patch, the base model of all other avatars of your race is exactly the same.

As for this zoom ****, it could indeed in have some damaging effects, but even then, there are more serious issues to address than either of these, such as not completely nerfing classes into uselessness, and helping off-set the "automation" problem tht plagues nearly every MMO.
This thread will prolly get locked by ncsoft. They always do that when there are threads about people using hacks instead of addressing the **** issue.

i cant believe no one flamed this guy, so ill do my best. what you're saying is "allow hacks". this would be cool, maybe even great, if we were playing a futuristic sort of game about hacking. allowing players to be creative and allowing the in-game creation of game exploits would make a really neat sci-fi MMO, maybe NC should consider this. maybe call it [923]-Runner or Shadow[923]. but thats not the game we're playing. L2 is a solid, managable and updatable client, and its an underlying concept of the game that EVERYONE is using the SAME client to platy it. this gives us a sense of fair play and balance, which really is not there because of the existance of hacks. due to the concept of game it is NCs job to ban players who are not responsible enough not to modify their client. YOU are a game flaw.
Nice try, but untrue - if it's not been locked for a few days, it won't get locked afterwards either unless it gets hijacked.

I think the underwear patch is fine. The dark elven "underwear" looks a lot less like cheap thrash than a lot of the actual in game outfits, for example. The nudie patch bothers me a bit because it contains dwarves, but it's not something someone should get banned over, it's something that they have to sort out with themselves (ew though).
Lol people looked at a naked toon of my buffer and getting their jollies is fine. I just want to see their faces when I say "Dude, I'm a guy!"

this gives us a sense of fair play and balance

Yes, because the game is fair and balanced. Everyone can get the right equipment for their level and that equipment is enough to play at that level. People don't kill you because you're weaker, and if they try, every race stands a chance. You don't have to keep killing the same mob over and over and over again because any other mob would cause you to spend more money than they are worth.

I thought you played L2, not barbie online.

Even though this is more than totally off topic... That made me laugh.

by "fair and balanced" i mean we're playing the same game, with the same rules. by "fair and balanced" i did not mean that a lvl 2 whith a chrono sould be able to kill a hero, becasue duh, that would be UNfair. also, im quite sure the Barbie Online **** for L2, which you may be using because u are a |33t h4xx0rz, is against the EULA because no one else in the community wants to use it. if that is the case, i hope you get banned for being under the required age to dualbox Ken with Skipper to unlock the secret X-rated sceens. its so sad that its become extremely common in modern games to have built-in cheat codes becasue otherwise the games might be too difficult and too enjoyable for people to play. i say again, YOU are a game flaw, because some people just dont find a game fun unless they can cheat more than the competition. i pity you.

you should take a look at WoW. they *ALLOW* changes to thier UI. it doesn't give an unfair advantage because everyone can use it. and honestly it was awesome when i played.

by NC allowing the zoom **** it would remove the unfair advantage by giving everyone access.
i think this has been mentioned before but

WoW sux

. if you take a game that sux and add something that sux to it, you get something that still sux. its not a valid comparison. your reasoning is "WoW has it so L2 should too". that is definately not what players of L2 want. by this reasoning we should also have 5-polygon cartoons for characters, server transfers, sex changes, and 3 million stupid actions, one of which makes my character "moo" like a cow.
It's as valid as your biased rant, bucko.
okay, okay, maybe i was a bit mean to WoW. after all i forgot to mention the worst thing about it...in the [923]craft series, there are no dark elfs, or cow-men. there are goblins and fair-skinned elfs. they should rename it "D&D_plus_minature_minatours Online" (ddpMMO)...
on topic: next time im playing chess ill distract my opponent and steal some of his pawns while hes not looking. the rules of chess should allow for this becasue...its so hard for me to win otherwise >.< better yet. lets let both players steal each others peices all the time. it would really balance the game.
PS: my point is that hacking a pre-established set of game rules ruins the game. if a game is built from the ground-up with hacks in mind and players agree to use whatever hacks they want, thats an idea for another MMO. L2 is not Supposed to be an MMO based on hacks.

but then where do you draw the line? People already use programs to tell peoples location/HP/etc.

They do need to extened the zoom a bit though, [censored] to not be able to see the whole RB, but not at the cost of allowing full tampering of the .ini/UI.
sure. if someone want to suggest a father back max-zoom point, sounds good to me. developers will argue over it and re-figure what the best max-zoom is, and EVERYONE will once again have the same max-zoom when they update their client. but people that spend effort out of game to get an edge over legitimate players in game should be banned.

Your amount of posting nonsense and crap is amazing. "Server transfers" is something i'm still waiting for, because it was promised for Lineage2 NA in open beta. Emotes have been added in the course of Chronicle updates and I wouldn't be surprised if they add more sooner or later. Sex change pots? Why not, it's not like that would hurt anybody.

If the so called hacks are made available for everybody they aren't hacks anymore. I have no idea what you have in your mind, but we're _not_ talking about /godmode or /unlimited_adena. Only stuff that is already in the engine but questionable limited would be lifted. If somebody feels the need to zoom out to the edges of the world i wouldn't care. If somebody wants to alter the Monsternames to add their lvl, oh noes i wouldn't be hurt. If somebody wants to colorize system messages to his own likings - why not?

As Lineage2 is now, everybody and his mother can '****' and alter files and NCSoft wouldn't notice. What you try to so hard to prevent here is actually the reality. Only those who prefer to stick to the rules are the ones that suffer from it.
It's not this hard to determine if the zoom **** should stay illegal and be detectible. Anything that is associated with the word **** should be. Every time a new game comes out there are several people who will spend countless hours hacking the game. Doesn't make any sense, instead of spending thier time ingame getting what they need legally or learning how to play they spen all thier time looking for ways to cheat. It will always be this way with online games. Specially if there is rl money in it.
WoW also allows programs to auto cure poisons and stuff if you have the items to cure it.

but then where do you draw the line? People already use programs to tell peoples location/HP/etc.

if a end-user (a person who is bound by the end-user liscense agreement) makes some change to the game, it is a ****. if an end-user (same as above) uses a program designed to alter or automate the game that was not produced or speciffically allowed by the designers of the game, it is a ****. if a **** is used, the client it is used on is considered to be "hacked". players using hacked clients should be banned. hopefully that should be pretty well-drawn, im not an artist  if however, a player wants a change, they have suggestion forums and /gm to provide their concerns to th developers so that the official rules of the game may be changed for everyones benefit. if the developers dont want to allow you to zoom out to infinity, im sure there is a reason for it.

I sure would like to stand a chance, at least to run away, against a hero that feels like killing people 70 levels bellow is funny... Yours is the typical noob point of view. When (if) you learn a little more about the game, you might understand what I wrote (maybe not, everyone has his limits).

If your 70 lvls below a hero you shouldn't stand a chance. Not even a remote chance. Not even a chance to run away. Meaning if you 70 lvls below a hero he shouldn't even be bothering with you to begin with (70 lvl's below a Hero is a NEWB). Unless you said something in game you shouldn't have. Personaly I haven't ever seen any hero in newb areas. If your 70 lvl below and in Giran talking smack you shouldn't be in Giran to begin with and in this case deserve to get whacked hard with no recorse. Just because its a game doesn't mean we should be able to do or say anything we want ingame and expect to get awy with it.

Also that hero shouldn't be able to do it either. Hero's are not invisible have killed a few of them. But this is a pvp game and lvl/gear make it easier to be a jerk. What comes around goes around. One day you can be in newb town killing little defensless newb the next day getting pwned in your lvling area and loosing a 200mil helm.

Karma can be a killer.

its not what the **** does but the fact that it is a **** that counts. in order to get that message a different color you had to rewrite some file. the process of changing the client is the **** itself, that is what you would get banned for. having this message show up in some color other than grey would be awesome, but have some patience and make a post in the suggestion forum.
lol, if real life worked like this.

ban people for using the nude patch

WTH? Nude patch of Official Servers? Not that I ever care for modifying my client or using anything 3rd party, but are you saying it works? and people are able to get away with it?

By get away I don't mean just because it's nude, but because it's a 3rd party patch thing as this is an official MMO server, not a Quake 3 or something.

Sure they get away with it, just like they do with botting or packet sniffers and whatever else there might be.
Although it would be rather easy to detect such changes, but you know its NC Soft.. ^^
The difference here is that there aren't a few thousand other customers who paid for the right to all be driving the same car.

Personally, I couldn't care less for someone applying cosmetic changes to their game (as in, patches to text colours or textures that do not distort gameplay, unlike the zoom ****) - there are more important things to bother about. I can, however, see why it bothers people: I know it makes me vaguely uneasy to think that I'll be appearing on someone else's client in a different way than I see myself.

But then, indeed, where do you draw the line? From a policy point of view it's obvious, but I don't think that's what's being discussed here.
Auto Assault (NCsoft game) checks every single game file before it lets you load the game, every single time. There's your solution.
Alot of you don't seem to realise that although Zoom **** does allow the user to zoom out as far as he/she wants it doesn't increase the draw range of players / npcs. So really it's just the same as using an unmodified client although you can zoom out a bit further.
wrong

It allows to see thing like over walls hills around corners etc u cant do without being zoomed out.

Also in sieges it allows u to target people on top walls you cant see especially in goddard.

And having to bear this whole process for a color change is what makes the whole thing pathetic. How about i'm color-blind and i prefer to have colors in a different way arranged then other ppl do? Oh right... i have to msg the korean developers and ask them if they could make a special version for me. Guess what, those developers from World of Warcraft or Everquest have understood the fact that it is the best to make the UI customizable for each person individual needs. It is simply stupid to have to '****' even the most basic changes.

lol, if real life worked like this.

You do realise that once you buy a car it is fully yours... however with L2 you are just leasing the right to use their software...

This makes no sense. First, I own my car, I can paint it any **** color I want. Second, I don't own L2 or anything to do with it. So you're saying I can't paint someone else's car?

I own my car, I can paint it any **** color I want.

Are you sure it doesn't break your warranty? It could.

I own my car, I can paint it any **** color I want.

It may but bottom line is that I can.
Can a GM please give us a official answer on this ?
Simply stated, any modification to the client files is a violation of the Lineage II Rules of Conduct (http://www.lineage2.com/legal/rules.html):

You may not modify any part of the Lineage II Client, Server, or any part of the official Lineage II website.

I want to make one thing clear.

The zoom feature is a fixed distanced based on ratio demension on the resolution used.

AKA, you run a 4:3 ratio (800x600 or 1024x768 or 1600x1200), your zoom distance is full, If you run a 1:1 ratio, that's about as far as you can zoom, any other ratio starts making it nearly impossible to play the game as (aka, narrow screen = messed up and hard to play)

Now, a 5:4 ratio (1280x1024) produces a slightly reduced zoom.

a 16:10 or 16:9 ratio resolution (HDTV ratios such as 720p/1080p/1600p as examples)

anyone ever try playing at 1280x720 (720p) or perhaps 1400x900 or 1920x1080 or 2560x1600..

When you run at those resolutions... those ratios... your maximum zoom basically goes as far as only seeing your character.... the it basically fills up the entire screen.... which freaking useless.

And then lets get into some seriously wide screen action.

Click the link below:

Now at 3840x1024 (that's the resolution used .... 3x 1280x1024 ... yes.. across 3 displays)... without the zoom **** all i would see as far zoomed back as possible, would be the crack of my DE's ***....

http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/362/triaceral1951lineage2full8un.jpg

frankly that's useless..

This is where i had to do a little research to remedy the issue.. and i've made several posts and messages sent to NCSoft's technical department showing the problems in which many people are having with screen ratios and whatnot... The responce i got was:

"The zoom distance within the game is preset, there are no future plans to make adjustments of the feature." And then the copy pasted information pertaining to thank you for playing l2 and continue playing.

So the only avanue left to try, was to see if there was some way in getting more zoom, more messages where sent and the responce back was always the same, no changes could be made..

A little fed up, did a bit of googling and low and behold, half the population using the zoom **** are ones using it to "cheat" purposely... the other half is just trying to get some kind of ability to keep the focus off there characters [censored] in widescreen mode.

So, in my testing, fired up the zoom **** to see how it worked.

This is my conclusion:

The zoom feature should be extended based on ratio but not a set determined value. Also, the distance zoom should NOT be infinite (the zoom **** isn't infinite, but it'll let you zoom so far out, that the load zones are seeable, and won't load until your character physically gets within it's range.)

Also, another thing is, the draw distance on characters and NPCs not to mention objects are based on characters physical position to them. Depending on your set NPC/terrain range, that's how far you'll be able to see over walls.

IMO, the zoom **** is useless otherwise, you zoom far out to see anything, you can't even click on them cause everything is so **** small..

ATM, i don't use the zoom ****, i only used it to try and fix my widescreen and super widescreen problems. If you game at normal resolutions, i don't deny that a smidge more zoom would be quite nice to have, but it's isn't going to kill me. Where as at the super wide and widescreens, full zoom = can't see didly crap all.

They need to fix the zoom feature, they need to implement a method to prevent others from modifiying it. If they would at least provide some kind of "Widescreen Mode" switch so those on widescreen can get alternate zoom mode so that we can actually see something... i think majority of the zoom **** users would stop really needing it. But i'm sure the other half will continue to try and use it.
And again...meaningless if it's not enforced. Like so many other "areas" of L2 this along with other "rules" are unenforced or unenforceable.

This is the only conclusion we can make after seeing the state of the game now. Zoomhack is the least of the problems facing real legit players. So quote the "rules" all you want they mean nothing unless you actually "do" something about the violators.
You might want to edit that part out about you actually breaking the TSA to test something out...

I know it makes me vaguely uneasy to think that I'll be appearing on someone else's client in a different way than I see myself.

And for all you know they could be screenshotting you from all kinds of dirty angles and god knows what they do after that.

So really, just totally silly to worry about.

The difference here is that there aren't a few thousand other customers who paid for the right to all be driving the same car.

We aren't all "driving" the same client. Each one of us have a copy of it, just like each customer has a car like the other.

You might want to edit that part out about you actually breaking the TSA to test something out...

Testing out in terms of showing proof of problems and plausable solutions..

i work both the beta side and the official side of various products, hardware/software. Plus, i've been warned about *.ini modifying, only to shortly thereafter watch as several.. if not everyone post the same methods i did on attempts at solving problems for others.

I'm an asset to ncsoft, i fill out more bug reports with plausible solutions then i play the game (although last 3-4+ months of lag has made things quite difficult in the actual playing portion)..

I in no way played the game with the zoom ****, i only tested the client side of it, i personally didn't make the modifications.

There are probably half the posters posting about this **** using it right now, although alot would consider it rather stupid to post such a thing i did, they are not in the same position as i.

I haven't provided a file/link to such file, nor do i have such file even on my machine. I'm not using it. As i said, it was to provide assistance in a solution to the problem, hell i even sent the file directly to NCSoft's technical support through the emails going through, through 2nd tier and i beleive i was moved to and even higher teir then that over hte matter.... if i were to be banned for it, it would have been then, if i'm banned for it now, there would be some rather large difficult things to sort through since those results were sent in well over a half a year or better ago.
And of course you have to enter the "care" factor. They don't and you don't use it anyway...end of issue. (I believe you more then I would if someone, anyone, from NcSoft saying that they actually "look" for things like this...you'd hope they'd be after the bigger fish... )

This is small potato stuff anyway.

yes it's quite small.. but the widescreen problem is becoming more prominent everyday.

the **** itself isn't all that big of an issue either.... there is a very very very small advantage over that of standard zoom distance..... this being a bit better feel, or in the case of soloing, you could easily pick the best mob next for the fastest and easiest route through the mobs and back again.

I do however beleive an infinite zoom shouldn't be available.. but soon, they should really implement a means of allowing us with widescreens to "Check Widescreen box" to enable us to get similare zoom features as other users.

Hacking it bad... don't do it ;)
It would bother me much more if my toon was displaying in majestic heavy on someone's screen than if they were ogling at her (ugly) panties. But of course, you know that you quoted a part of the paragraph that did not need your reply due to the rest of the whole thing, so let's leave it at that. As I said, I agree: In the end, it doesn't matter how things look for someone else, except if they're only seeing tables, dropdowns and numbers. THen they need to go away.

Customer: "I don't like the color of my car"
Car company: "Well, post it in our suggestion forum and be patient"
Customer: "But I just want another color on my car, can't I paint it"
Car company: "NO, if you do that we will take your car away from you"
Customer: "What about changing the wheelcaps? I really li..."
Car company: "SUGGESTION FORUM, and be patient!!!"

as others pointed out, the right to change the car, in this case has been reseved by NCSoft. if you painted a rented car, the company that own it would consider it vandalized or otherwise damaged. damaged software is known as "hacked".
Well, yes, because software companies take alot of liberties they wouldn't be able to get away with in any other field.

And btw, I can change my client and its not illegal at all, its simply against NCSofts rules.
1. The Zoom **** dosen't need you to bypass the updater. It isn't detected. The only way would be done with a full update. Do you guys even know how the **** is written, sheeshh!

2.) The Zoom **** exists because people have asked for a longer zoom range since the game practically begun, NC didn't do anything, so other programers did.

3.) This goes for almost all 3rd party programs. Many people use a bot to sell things AFK, the only reason they do this is because it takes less system resources than running the actual client...this is the 'light' version that everybody has been asking for for practically the last year!

4.) IMO I am getting tired of being the legit guy and have a crazy disadvantage over the "unlegit" guy. I want to follow the rules of the game, becuase that in my mind is the way it was designed to play, and I like to play things the way someone invisioned it, at least until I turn away and never come back because I can't stand that vision anymore. The easiest way to fix all botting, hacking, and 3rd party usage of any kind would to just have NC make it all legal. That way they don't have to do anything, and it isn't an advantage anymore...EVERYONE can do it if they wanna!

The End!

Oh yes, and I do agree...the zoom **** is the LEAST of the worries of L2. I would rather them put resources into other aspects than try to find a fix for something so petty as the zoom ****.

The easiest way to fix all botting, hacking, and 3rd party usage of any kind would to just have NC make it all legal.

Yeah..that's how we should win the war on drugs too.

take away bots and zoom **** but dont touch my greens!

high+ exp = hoho fun
I weep for future generations.
heh...I was not 100% serious when I said that, there was some sarcasm in there. But really, it sadly is the truth.

Yes, and you can win the war on drugs by making it legal...lol...there would be no war. Those that choose to stay drug free will do it for personal reasons of health and whatnot.

Did you know it is easier for a kid to get his hands on a doobie than a cigarette...interesting isn't it?

Well anyway, I don't really wanna get into a political discussion. Cause if ppl flame really hard over L2 politics and whatnot, I don't even want to imagine how it goes when the real world is involved.

Nice try, but untrue - if it's not been locked for a few days, it won't get locked afterwards either unless it gets hijacked.

I dont think so. alot of threads about ncsoft not doing anything to solve the problem of farmers, bots and hacks had been locked when the threads had not been hijacked.

Well like most of the people in the forum, i dun think complaining in the forum will work. Ncsoft never listerns. Not to players in North America server anyway.
Not to get farther off topic or anything, but it sure would be nice to get new unique textures for armors. Kind bothers me that some character models (particularly Orcs and humans) have so many reused textures. My prophet looks exactly the smae in NM robe, light, or heavy.

Perhaps if the game had more diversity in armor looks, people might use less texture hacks. Of course the fact that the normal underwear textures were somehow censored or whatever still confuses me. My SE has tallum robe, she's in her underwear anyway :p

But technically speaking changing an ini file isn't really a ****, it's more of a mod. I never modded my ini files, but really if they don't want people to change it, they could easily remove the option from the ini file.

3.) This goes for almost all 3rd party programs. Many people use a bot to sell things AFK, the only reason they do this is because it takes less system resources than running the actual client...this is the 'light' version that everybody has been asking for for practically the last year!

Yeah, thats actually a big problem for the people who don't have extra machines, because gameguard messes up many other programs and games so they can't run at the same time as Lineage 2 is up, so they can't sell things in town.
I am beginning to see something of a trend when it comes to NCSoft. I was told that the Koreans do not like to use the word "no". This goes against their culture so to speak.

So with that premise in mind, its easy for them to say "NO" with the EULA as most companies do. Then "ALLOW" things to happen by turning their heads to 3rd party programs. Or censoring topics that come to close to the reality of their thinking.

What most of us would like NCSoft to do is make a statement and officially allow 3rd party programs that benefit this game. This would make the playing field balanced. We all know that nothing is being done to 3rd party programs.

Be the first company to actually allow 3rd party useage and see if consumers will increase. I read all the time about companies banning such useaged. And in most cases, retail sales suffer as a consequence.

I have said this from the very beginning. Reduce the grind and increase drop rates. You wont need 3rd party programs if both of these issues were addressed.
This thread is turning mainly into a discussion of third-party programs and other violations of the User Agreement, so I am closing it now.
