The rogues and assassins association for war and revolution (RAAWR) has decided to voice itself and has put their best mathemagians at work.
I mean, have you seen treasure chests suck so much ? Mathematically they have been on a downfall since their arrival and now they just reached rock bottom.
And what is rock bottom ? Well, after you get around all the mimics (50%) and all the misses, you finally open a chest and use 2 keys (over 1K adena each) to get.... 674 adena. WTH ???
OH ! Of course, they added enchants to the equation, so basically it's a mathematical adjustment to loot to respect the laws of large numbers. However, your mathematics are borked.
So RAAWR now demands that you put mana potions in chests in C5. If our demands are not met by this deadline, we WILL begin to put serious preasure on mathemagicians everywhere.
It's not enough that you sold off our skills with keys for all professions to use and cheat us, you had to make chests just an idiotic venture for a rogue.
Heh well if mana pots are ever added, it would be something like shadowbane. only 1% mana is regened over time while sitting down but stops once you decide to move. But maybe...
I have preferred the use of a spell or arrow to open chests from a safe distance. They make excellent fragmentation projectiles for dealing with those who would ignore the rights and rules of hunting afield.
After all, two keys for 674 or maybe an enchant scroll, or one well-placed arrow and the luxury of someone else's hard-bought gear that will not complain about the loss?
The Mischief Event is good for this. Archer has 187 keys from xping in Heine and Partisan Hideaway at lower levels. Figured while roaming the land for event mobs, I might as well burn the keys. 120 or so keys later I'm roughly 5,000 adena richer. Oh, I did manage to get an Enchant Armor Scroll (C)...when out of frustration I decided to use an arrow instead of a chest key to open a treasure chest. Who knew mimics drop the scrolls? (That's more scrolls than I've had from ALL of event mobs.)
Attacking chests doesn't actually open them. It kills the mob versions and forces the treasure versions to disappear.
The trick is to one hit them. While in Cruma I could 1 hit the chests and came out with about 10 armor scrolls in 2 days, as well as getting 1000 adena + from most of the chests, which was nice profit considering 1 nuke = 315adena. Then while CDL in the cemetary from 52+ I found I could again 1 hit chests and got a few more scrolls + lots of adena :) So it seems 1 hitting is equal to opening with a key, but costs less and is less dangerous because the mimics can't get you.
hm, you really can't kill anyone with an exploding chest anymore. at least, not like you could pre-c3. in those days, an exploding chest had some range, and man did it do a whack load of damage. funded my d gear off bots in the execution grounds that way. nearly got pk'ed for it too by a couple of people who turned out not to be bots after all. whoopsie.
They may not explode, but the mimics sure wallop a good punch as their first strike. Growing up 20-40 as my Assassin, I got better drops from killing the mimics than opening real chests. I gave up even trying eventually, but my very first chest I succesfully opend dropped a Recipe:SSD. It took a great while to give up hope that I would get anything else from them.
