AOE GRINDING

Player Questions Started Last reply 11 posts
Hello i havent seen many AOE grinding posts on the boards, my question is Im a shaman>Overlord to be. Ive seen many overlords paired with sorcerers varriants (for there mass sleep and aoe spell) make large scale trains togheterh, the orc mass roots and mass poisons while the other sleeps the catch any mobs who escaped the root, when all mobs are down the sorver does and aoe finishing them all of at once.

so i was wondering if anyone farmilar with this syle of grinding could share some tips, and locations based on level ranges, so far i think the best mobs to grind this way are the halp hp ones, like outside of oren, beehive field of wispers etc, can anyone share more locals with suggested level ranges for them and any oterh mass aoe/train tips thank you very much
Ancient battlefield.
AOE got the nerf stick in C4. Its only really good when you can get 25+ otherwise it takes too long to do for such a large amount of mp used.
I dont suggest poison its far too slow, I would do your AOE hp drain thing, looks like bleed. there are the spiders west of gludio for that lvl range, the half hp mob guys west of giran (look like silenos) the half hp mob guys south of Oren (looks like cave beasts) AB and so on. You need a tank a healer or two a moss root and sleep and you should be set.

AB is dead. They nerfed it with a Sledgehammer. AB was absolutely *crazy* XP back then, but now

a.) as was already said in this thread, you can only affect 20 mobs with AOE nukes+AOE sleep AND with AOE hate, meaning that you cannot pull more than that or you will simply die, because every nuker AND the tank will affect different mobs with their skills, so mobs will be left unhated and go on the nukers, and it will take a ****load of nukes to take down the whole pile because mobs will be left unaffected by some of the nukes. So it is no longer good exp/time, since you have to pull small trains.

b.) they modifed the mobs themselves, too. If you have a close look at them, each group has at least one matk resistant mob now. So even if you pull only 20 mobs at a time, you will need far more nukes to take them all down than previously. Meaning that you will eventually run out of mp and have downtime. You never had downtime in C3.

c.) they even nerfed Warsmith AOE via big boom - you cannot take down a whole group with one boom, but the mobs will now run after the Warsmith when the first boom went off. And that is deadly.

End result? AOE in AB is dead. Go there now, not a single legit player around. Not even the pole users who cried so much about everybody taking "their" mobs in C3 - they are all in the catacombs, because exp is better there. One huge area on the map completely unused, because it is simply not worth to go there anymore for anybody.

We tried it (nuker aoe+tank) out once with a small party and pulling trains of 20 mobs at a time. Exp/time was worse than in a standard grinding party anywhere else.
Oh right I forgot about that whole C4 thing they loaded on the servers ><
The Overlord seals are extremely usefull in melee aoe, they reduce the damage taken and increase the kill speed. If you are planning on going Overlord make sure you become friends with the pole users around your lvl.

The overlord really shines in pve when you place him with a few polearms.
For your class, doing AOE's is a very good way to go, even after the C4 nurf on AOE.

I built a WC'er and did AOE from lvl 25 to lvl 45. There are some things you should know first though. You will die, you will die a lot. Not that this is a bad thing, later on you will really need that extra sp you get. Loseing 4% is not that bad though, I was getting around 4% plus per pull so I didn't mind dieing a few times a day.

First thing you need to do is find someone that can pull the mobs for you, and that can handle the damage the mobs will give him for a few mins while you root them. It is not good for you to be pulling the mobs, since they will most likely cancle your spell before you get it off.

Most of the times I would find a good place out of the way where there is no one else around. Have your tank or who ever pull around 15 single hp mobs. Root > Blazing Quake > AOE Posion > Root again > Blazing Quake > AOE Posion....if you feel the need you can do one last Root. By this time almost every mob should be down to around 1hp and can be killed with one hit. I kept a very cheap pole arm with me to take down all the mobs.

At this point you will think that your getting a lil low on mp, but if you sit down right away, and wait for the next train of mobs to show up will be almost full on mp again.

There are a few things to watch out for. Root will make almost every mob agro on you, so try to find mobs that don't have range atks (ie: archers or magic mobs) since they could cancel a root before you get it off. Also have a good friend that you trust with your gear. Every now and then root will only land on a few of them mobs and the rest will agro on you and kill you before you can breath.

A lil side not on your root and aoe skills. The higher your M.Atk is the better your chance of them landing are. So go with a mage weapon and if you can get robes that give you more casting speed is a plus too.

Oh and if you can, do mobs that are green to you. White mobs are ok, but I just find with green mobs your aoe skills land a lot more often.
i dont know about the 20 mob limmit on aoe thing,, ive seen people in tanor canyhon round up about 65 mobs at once and killl them all in one aoe spell atack, i think its the adena farmers but nonetheless ive seen it done
Yeha this style works preatty good, I newst to help a OL work on mobs in AC.

I was 61 at the time, and I ran around collecting the mobs for him then he did all the dmg, I just used battle heal to keep the argo on me, and even as a nuker I evaded most of the mobs. sdo he didn't tak etoo much dmg.

It worked out really good.

ABG has been hit with the nierf stick, But I did a AoE group there on the PTS. wasn't too bad, was a scor, sps, SR, my SE side kick, and a bishop. and some kind of tank, for hate but he wasn't really needed.

The sps and my self (the scor) got the AoEing down to the point where I'd hit he'd hit and then my next hit would finsh them and if not he got the last 1 or 3 mobs off my back.

If you have mobs you can kill with one aoe attack, and if you have several nukers so that chances are good that you will more or less "cover" all mobs with several aoe nukes at the same time, it might work. But if you have matk resistant mobs among them, and if you need several nukes anyway to kill them (like the AB mobs), it will get VERY dangerous indeed, especially since the tank will not be able to hate all the mobs back onto him (hate is limited to 20 mobs, too).

The only reliable way to AOE nuke is via summons (unicorn merrow). They are not limited.

Here, straight from the C4 patch notes on the official website:

Changes to Area Attack Skills

1) Physical/magical offensive area skills used by players are now applied to limited number of targets. However, during PvP, all players within the area will be affected. The skill effect is limited to 20 targets and it is unaffected by enchantment. The area skills of monsters/summons are unaffected.
