The answer: No. This is Lineage2, not some soccer game. NCsoft is currently developing a streetball soccer game, which was presented at the E3. Wait till that comes out, then you may have soccer events.

"All Americans"? I am American and I certainly don't think that for a second. I have made in-game friends from all over the world and that is one of the many reasons I love this game.

Technicaly all servers are located in North America, the deevelopers are in US, servers run on central american time (all but Teon), so what do you expect? Events dedicated to Chinese new year? i bet there are as much Chinese IP's here as there are Europeans, no ofence to anybody.
There are not enoughf developers in NCNA team to make more events so there will be Eroupe only dedicated events.

First off no we don't think everyone celebrates our holiday's and could care less if you do or not.
Soccer is the #1 proffessional sport everwhere around the world except the the United States. L2 in Korea is having a event for the World Cup so I can understand why the OP asked this question. Specially if he is a soccer fan.
L2 NA is hmmmm let me see for North America. The servers are run out of hmmmm let me see Texas. So it makes sense that they would run events around our holidays.
Now would I come out with such a stupid comment if they ran events around holidays from other nationalities that play on NA servers. No I wouldn't actually I think the NA dev's should look into doing it.

I didn't even give it a second thought that Independance Day is an actual holiday. Actually I don't remember which of the events it was, but I'm pretty sure it didn't have the first thing to do with Independance Day.
It would be kinda neat with a chinese new year event. I'd like that :) With dragons and chinese lamps and stuff.
But if we get a world cup event !! I will not log in that day (gonna be tough if it's for several days :p ). I [censored] hate sports and everything associated with it. I just pray that we won't get any souvenirs, so I won't have anything in game associated with sports (like footballs or giant foam hands).
TBH, if it weren't for the movie "Independence Day", I would have no idea, which day it actually is. (That patriotic thing, where some US guy finds out, that the aliens are using windows computers without firewalls :P)
Seriously though, who cares about the national holidays, outside of the respective country ? Does any american care for the "Tag der deutschen Einheit" ? Would anyone know, why we changed that date less than 20 years ago ?
Valentines Day is coming up in europe in the last couple years, but when I was young, I never heard about it. I believe, it is just a commercial thing, invented by flower and gift shops.
Personally I would more like to celebrate the "Day of the King" or the "Day the World tree was chopped down" or "Maphrs Day of Creation" than any national holiday.

Actually, like Schmusekatze suggested, events relating to the history of the game world would be far more interesting. Look to the left side, in the "game background" menu, under "myths&history". Why not create events about something from there? Why not create race-specific events? Why not have some offspring of some historic figure come back for revenge?
I just fail to see why we need some World Cup event when there are so many other possibilites for events which are not as awkward. What's next? A McDonald's event where you can collect rebate coupons from mobs?
When I am in game, I want to get away from the real world stuff for a few hours. There is enough World Cup coverage everywhere around here, I really do not need to hear about it in game, too.
