Event Ideas

Everyone complains about how bad they think events are, so I figured I'd start a thread about peoples' ideas for events. *Note, this is a discussion thread :p*

My idea would have to be that for 24 hours *this is a chaos event idea so I know some people wont like it* that waves of mobs will constantly attack a designated town *or try to siege a castle?*. I say designated, so that people would know not to set up shops there for that day. Like I said, its a chaos event idea, not a fair one.
my idea.

GK strike! All gk (including clan hall) are on strike. The priest of dawn/dusk will not go on strike, but since the gk are mad they will interfere with teleports and you will be teleported to a random location within a certain range of where you were suppose to go... so instead of porting to the 10th floor spot, you could end up on the otherside of the wall and fall 10 floors down to the ground... or maybe go into a room full of agros...

This event would benefit nobody whatsoever. It should last 5 years imo.
I think the problems aren't the events themselves but the rewards.

I think an event celebrating Maphr that drops base materials would be very cool - preferably something with a fair mix of running and killing, but not too much of either (but then, that's easier said than done).

I guess breaking in the prices on A Grade recipes would also be nice - an event that gives quest items at increased rates from various event mobs might be pretty cool.

This event would benefit nobody whatsoever.

LMAO. Sign me up!

This idea reminds me of Suikoden. One of my favorite games. But it would be fun to see it for one day. Like you got 9 people ready to gank 3, you teleport in the right spot and the other 8 somewhere else :D. You get owned lol. That would be funny. Or a lvl 1 reroll in TI teleporting in a room of aggroes in some high lvl cata's or necro instead of Gludin. Fun times.
Wanna slow down the automated friends for one week? Make an event where every single mob in the game is ****** off and aggroes.. They can invade towns and kill AFK shops.. Hell, make even the raid bosses aggro! :p
I think a fun event would be where everything turns wild for one day, with no lasting consequences. For example, during those 24 hours, everybody is made a Hero with 10 million adena (to port around). All of your regular gear is gone and replace with top gear and undroppable. Towns are not safe zones. After the 24 hours, everything returns to normal.
I like that idea! And you cant get XP and can't lose xp? And PK count and PVP count doesn't change (but you go red?).. Cool!
I think a few-weeks-in-prelude event might be cool, where they open an alternative server for a few weeks which is run on a prelude build. Rewards for their home server go to the highest level player of each class, the richest player, and the winners of some sort of PvP tourney at the end.
A Polymorph event like Lineage I used to have would be a blast. Morph into one of various creatures and take on their attributes for a day. You would still retain your patk, matk and other critical stats, but you may run faster or slower, or attack faster or slower depending on the mob you chose to be.
That would be awesome! I'd love to be an elpie summoner, or maybe even a Unicorn so I can be in tandem with the pony. xD
Days of Maphr.

The players are able to get a Days of Maphr quest appropriate for their level (which is done to prevent players AoEing dark blue mobs for the benefits to themselves). When running this party-type quest, every mob killed has a chance to drop quest coins. The players can exchange the coins for additional XP and/or SP (on their choice) for their toons.

The dwares receive twice more XP and/or SP than other races. Alternatively, the dwarves can exchange their coins for the basic mats of their choice. The exchange rates shoud be mostly benefitial to mid-to-highlevel dwarves, but low-level dwarves should get some benefits, too. The exchange rates could depend on the class of the dwarf.

The risks to address are:

1. Overall exp/mats balance issues.

2. Powerleveling of low-level toons by high-level toons. The possibility is not bad by itself, but can be abused with RL money transfers.

3. Automated dwarves getting some benefits in tradeable items. Well, they will get these anyway. Just make sure that non-automated dwarves are getting these, too.

GK strike! All gk (including clan hall) are on strike.

Given the number of people I see attacking gatekeepers on a regular basis, I like this idea.
How about an event where GM's can take the form of some kind of creature and go around buffing and cursing ppl. If you have been good, you get buffs. If you are suspected of being bad, you get a curse.

This to help ppl that actually play, and to prevent automated or cheating ppl to have an advantage.
How about a MOB fest week. Where larger numbers of the regular mobs spawn in the usual areas. So people can XP for a week without having to run all over the place wasting time between kills.

I know it's lazy..but hey..it's an event, right...

Da Smookster...
Days of Maphr:

Whenever a Dwarf picks up anything, they get a random buff.

Whenever an Elf picks something up, they loose 50.000 HP. In case, they have less than 50.000 HP at that time, they loose the rest in adena. If they do not have enough adena on them, they simply die and drop as if they were red with 6 PKs.

Whenever any other race picks something up, nothing special happens.

Oh and the mother world tree would be burned down.

or an event where all dwarfs are red with 6pks that can't be worked off! REDISTRIBUTE THE WEALTH!

I guess there is no other race, ma'am?

Something tells me that Wanderer Dorf was right. Scrap those Maphr events, let's go Eva ones. The whole world is a peace zone, all the mobs are passive, all the teleports are free, noblesse and Seven Signs teleports are available to everyone, no raid bosses and no spoils.

As long as there is no crafts too, and all the craftable consumables can't be used.

Sure there are other races.
I only mentioned the mighty Dwarves and the wimpy Elves.
That leaves the strong Orcs, the versatile humans and the bend over Dark Elves....

Make an event that would actually be profitable to starters, like people under lvl 20? i just started playing during the event, im quite disapointed to see that i'll never even see a special mob.

I seen event mobs in starter areas too, for my lvl 22 there were green to deep blue mibs in 1 spot in orcland.
Days of Maphr.
giant earth-wyrm gods spawn randomly in the deepest part of the mithril mines, when killed they drop stuff. (this wyrm is mentioned by the preists of maphr but not in game >.<) players can sign up with the preists of maphr for the event, and coins are gained sometimes when yellow mobs are killed (its to my understanding that bots rarely kill mobs that are yellow to them, since they would be easily trained, if they did start killing yellow mobs, FD > bots). also since mobs are only yellow for like a level, it would be difficult to organize parties for the event, and maybe some people would work together that dont normally. trade the coins in to the NPC for mats. one coin for basic mats like bone or varnish, and 2 coins for rare mats like eria and mold glue. 10 coins can be traded for a keymats for a Dgrade weapon, 50 coins for a C grade weapon keymat, 250 coins for a B grade weapon keymat, 1000 coins for a A grade weapon keymat, 5 coins for Dgrade armor/accessory keymats, 15 coins for C grade armor keymats, 45 coins for B grade armor keymats, and 165 coins for A grade armor keymats.

...and there would be a lot of confused bots standing exactly on top of each other trying to teleport into the necros ;)
Bloody Festival of Gran Kain: All mobs are aggro, pk without penalties, no exp loss, no karma. Mobs drop becomes 2x, exp becomes 2x. LoL, now that I think of it, that would be completely chaotic...*mr. burns' voice* - "excellent".
CHAUS WEEK!...heh

I want a dorf tossing event.

I second that.

Toss a dwarf to see if they leave a ground zero upon landing, depending on how big the crater they leave, the more L2Day scrolls you get. Of if you toss a dwarf and hit another dwarf, then you gain 2m XP and a full weapon drop(grade appropriate to the thrower, ofcourse).

this is completely absurd! the grade of the item should be based on the level of the dwarf thrown.
ROFL
what if you thow the dwarf at ten elves, and knock them all down in one throw?

Well, if you can get the 10 Elves to stay unmoving, and the dwarf knocks them all out, you get a selection box pop up with grade equipment, where you can choose any 1 item for free and it can never be dropped on death.

It would be even cooler if they add a new Temporary Skill called: Homing Beacon. Which would be a cone style Hat with a glowing red light at the top of the hat. Worn by the dwarf ofcourse, to help them improve the accuracy of the landing.

Sure. Let's have it. Except, of course, common craft.
Flood the market with 11 12 13 soul crystals and take away the farming of HIGH level raid bosses. Plain and simple!!!

This would be exelent if it was done every mouth for 1 week.

Then it would really put the grind down on the RB farmers, and the bots!!

Those it might help them, it has a chance to hinder them more, keep them from actully doing there job cause if they go out side of town they get pked, and it wont hurt the PKer.
I would like to see an event where the XP/drop rates rates were increased for a week just like the PTS. Lets face it, everyone hates the grind and could do with a few more levels and this would be of benefit to everyone. I might decide not to quit if this happened :P
LoL, I hear ya on that :p

Oh and the mother world tree would be burned down.

<puts down the torch>

Get out of my mind, Kitten.
Hmmm some ideas

Monster Hunt -

Some story about a mad wizard who added magic to all the mobs in the lineage world.

Goal: Kill as many different mobs as possible. For each different mob you kill you receive a magic fiber collected from the beast. At the end of the 7 days turn in all these items for some prize of sorts.

The event basically has you exploring the L2 world and killing as many different mobs as possible. Only one item given for each type of mob. There are hundreds of different mobs and the bots wouldnt even bother with this event because they stay in one spot and just farm.

Event: Return Home

Story: A great light flashes in the sky calling each race to their homeland. Each day one star will shine brightly in the sky towards a races homeland. The strange rays from the star cause the monsters to behave strangely and attracts powerful monsters from far away lands.

Goal: Each of the 5 days a star shines over one races homeland. One day for each race Orc, light elf, dark elf, human, dwarf. Only races from those specific areas may participate in their homeland. More raid bosses and stronger mobs appear randomly in that races homeland and have good drops etc.

Days of Maphr:

Whenever a Dwarf picks up anything, they get a random buff.

Whenever an Elf picks something up, they loose 50.000 HP. In case, they have less than 50.000 HP at that time, they loose the rest in adena. If they do not have enough adena on them, they simply die and drop as if they were red with 6 PKs.

lol you have such a chip on your shoulder, we need to get a few drinks in ya to take this edge off!
Howabout Doom Week...

For a week all mobs have a chance of dropping StimPacks...

You pop one and become zerked to heck and back...Increasing patk by 1000 and reducing HP by 200 points per second for 10 seconds...

And add in a different shotgun for each race....crank up the undead spawn rate...

Da Smookster...
How about you add some REAL storyline to the player character world?

I like the 'Return Home' idea above, and to expand the beginning, I think that every race should be summoned back to their starting village and surrounding area.

Then War begins.

Every race on L2 is supposed to hate each other, and so the whole co-operation thing is a little unrealistic. So, for a fortnight, a clan war type thing is declared between each race. Mobs are still around of course, but if you go after standard mobs you have to try and hunt them without running into a member of another race, and accept the lack of drops and 1/2 exp fro killin mobs. However, to kill the player of another race, you get triple exp and standard mob drops, at no expense of the victim. Groups and teams form to wage war in the mainland. Factions and orders of knights, oracles, etc, or mixes between all of them. Real battles on hunting grounds commence, between huge groups of same-race players against same-race players. A player killed by mobs loses no exp, but can drop items. A player killed by another race loses standard exp, but no drops.

No GKs. All must walk/run, and go across water via boat. Travel in large groups/packs for safety. Pick off any idiot stragglers. Claim castles for your race, invade other starting vilages with huge forces, or just skrimish in the vast terrains of Aden.

REAL war. Between Races. To see the REAL dominant species; DarkElves, Elves, Humans, Orcs and Dwarves, all going head to head, for 2 weeks. They have that time to prove their strength as a race, and stand as one. The armies of the races actually unite, perhaps as one, or perhaps as many smaller splinter units. Real clans/alliances put on hold, for just two weeks.

But who would win?

In my opinion, there is one way to find out, and I think game developers need to seriously look into this one. It could be done, and should be. It would be the biggest, most insane and in-depth event they could possibly do. Competitive for the headstrong players, co-operative for the teamers, difficult for those who like a challenge, actual Role Playing warfare for those who like RPG storylines and War games.

And immense fun.
I like this idea.
Thats not a bad idea... people should also be forced to play only their main class. can't swich to subclass while in the event time.

That would stop people who are DE's playing necro (a human class), and so on.

Any one on their subclass sould be foced over to their main class.

And you can only pvp people that are the same grade as your own. even if they are the other race! (so no one thats 76+ can kill people thats 75 below, and no one 61+ can kill any one thats not atlest 61.) (that would slow the griefing that happens on lowbies, make things more fair)
Make an event centralized on the grinding, after all it's the majority of the game...

Example : A sudden invasion start(kinda like the previous event). The event could be Based on /time, different mobs with different abilities (night : dark, day : holy, with variations.)

They would spawn anywhere alone or in packs of 3-5 and would drop 2 things :
1. Lumps of items(from what i heard the previous event made sense)
2. Quest items (" Proof of killing"?) that you could turn in much like proof of fishing BUT NOT TRADABLE. these could be transformed using common crafting and then turned into extra EXP(accoding to the degree of proofs.)

Some mega groups could also spawn like the previous event always with a raid boss THAT WOULD MAKE SENSE.(Heard ramblings of raid boss of lvl 43 with lvl 20 mobs...)

That'd be my kind of event. Not only it could be profitable, the mobs wouldnt be static but everybody could encounter them at any time(Much like the previous event's announcement was saying(lol.)), but also would add another dimension than farming to resell.
How about a such for NPC event..

say you got like 5 days to such and talk to every single NPC in aden and godad... the top 15 people of each race gets a prize. that talked to the most NPC's.. including GK's and the like.

This could be used to force people to get to know there map!

A game that any one could play, and don't benifet the automatic players! (yes it's simular to arrow head run event)
Hunt mobs for coloured gems:
- 7 different colours
- all equally gettable

When you get enough you go to a town with the gems and use them to play mastermind:
i.e: a hidden combination of the 7 colours is in 4 slots:
the quicker you guess the right combination the higher % xp scroll you get:
right first time: 100% xp scroll
right second time: 50% xp scroll
right third time: 30% xp scroll
then reduces by 5% a guess down to nothing

After every guess it tells you how many gems are in the right position or the right colour but in the wrong position

*gems are NOT transferable - can only be used by the person that hunts them (sorry farmers)
beg pardon, it was off the top of my head and i had no idea someone else had already suggested it. theirs is more thought out too I see.

however, this just supports my belief that something like this SHOULD happen. even if it was a seperate server that disallowed Alts or something, one purely for inter-race pvp.

but who knows? maybe its like when people debate global pollution or something in a geography classroom- you can have as many potent views and good ideas as you like, cos at the end of the day, its not up to you what happens.

all the same, a guy can dream, haha :)

Except INGAME LORE states that those who have obtained a subclass have tempted the gods themselves and torn asunder the limitation of race and class placed upon them by the gods.
So plz lets keept his straight with the lore of l2.
Then anyone who has subclassed is not welcomed to such a god-driven event, since they have fallen out of grace.
I'd like an event where GMs that were either not blind, or not ******ed (hopefully both) logged onto each server for 24 hours, took a look around, and did their **** job.
I would like to suggest we have BOT WEEK.

The idea is very simple. Everyone has free reign to go out and kill as many bots as possible. There will be no problems with going red, karma etc as during this event normal rules will not apply.

As NC don't seem to remove them for us maybe this could be the solution. Kill as many as you can as quickly as you can. The rewards might not be huge drop wise but how good will everyone feel as yet another &84%@$* BOT is destroyed!!!!
the above two ideas are very good.

but both are things that should be addressed day to day, not necessarily in a single event. the first is common sense- GMs are there for a reason, so they should act like it. if i was a GM i'd never stop playing (lol, for real).

the second idea is one that relates slightly to the first. BOTTING is illegal, is it not? A punishable offense, so you say? then, [censored], make it punishable. If the GMs wont, let the players punish the [censored]. the only people who will oppose this idea are people who Bot themselves... ideal for cathing them out. there should be a system introduced for players to be able to kill bots without going red. Maybe a 'Pose Question' hover command for each player, like speech on NPCs and shops, where a little box pops up on a player's screen with a time bar (just like for trade requests and other questions) and a Yes/No option: Are you an Active Player?

No response in the allotted time, or 'No' (haha) means you can kill them without going red. This option of questionning a grinding player is disabled when they are sitting down, in case someone is AFK. A way to effectively weed out and disrupt the Bot system... and also exceptionally satisfying.

but maybe this is impractical? who knows- i just want a way to kill the [censored].

Any GMs who read this... good. Lets see some response. I apologise for my language, but lets face it- its an idea we all feel rather strongly about. and also, respond so we can see you have an eye out for things... if Lineage rarely (if ever) listens to the people who actually keep it in business, it'll sink.

There are some good ideas in this thread... but maybe, after the event we just had, they just *seem* better.
Small problem: Anything that they identify to their purposes as a bot would already be banned.

If that wasn't the case, botting wouldn't be a punishable offense, and then making it punishable by event wouldn't make sense either...
