And this:
LineageRadio.com is hiring for all positions.
Published: June 7th, 2006
LineageRadio.com will be broadcasting soon, and we are looking for the best DJ's and news team to work on keeping Lineage Radio the best community source for Lineage II. If you love music, talking about everything Lineage II, and hanging out with the Lineage II community, then this is the perfect job for you. We have listed our available positions on the front page of our site. Simply click on a job title to learn more about it, and how to apply!
I spent some time in thier IRC channel today talking to them about various things. Players may request songs so you can try to hear whatever you want to hear. Some of thier DJs on their other stations seem a little..new..to the job(lacking polish, but otherwise good). Plenty of music played, not a large over abundance of chatter and seemingly little in the way of advertisements. Good energetic people, a few of them play Lineage, the rest are starting to get into it. This could have a good future.
*EDIT* Forgot to mention, not all thier songs are fit for minors, so the parents out there should, as always, monitor what thier kids are listening to.
Hmmmm... Volunteer huh? Well, that's ok.. just consider it "open source". You still can get some quality.
Hmmmm, not quite. Open source involves you let peeps develop whatever they want, and at their own pace.
Did you check out the descriptions ? You have to give a minimum of hours (just like a job), you must be available monday-sunday (just like a job), must pass an audition (just like a job) but you don't get paid (UNLIKE a job).
If these guys have NCSoft as partners, they should get some swag to hand out, if you don't give anything you'll get crap, and it will never lift from the ground.
When you guys are serious about this project, come back and see me. In the meantime, I probably wouldn't say no to an interview, but nothing more.
The "Aden Times" announcement came out a little after Prelude, all I remember was that there wasnt enough interest in being reporters for a intesely pvp game. So NCsoft scrapped the idea
I'll say this, I was listening to thier DnDRadio station last night while grinding on a new toon, they played lots of good metal, and a bunch of funny sketchs/songs. I got laughing so hard at one of the sketchs that my toon died cus I didnt heal potion.
Helllooooo everyone!
Jester here - Im what you could call the "community guy" for TMSBroadcasting, ontop of that I get to make sure that our guys are making you guys happy!
Thank you all for the warm welcome. I'd be more than happy to feild any of your questions, feel free to pop on by our website at www.lineageradio.com (http://www.lineageradio.com) and visit us at our IRC channel at irc.mmoradio.com #lineageradio
I look forward to meeting you all - I will be scouring these forums like a hawk for the next few weeks! Feel free to contact me!
Just like Lineage DM, they have every right to remove purely negative posts.
They are GREAT people. I have been chatting with them for 2 days now, and already consider some of them friends.
Here's what makes me REALLY like them. They are PASSIONATE about video gaming. ALL of thier DJs will be Lineage2 PLAYERS. Even thier current staff is playing Lineage to get a better feel for the community, and to make sure they are playing, and understanding everything they can.
Just like Lineage DM, they have every right to remove purely negative posts.
I know. Why do you think I made that Mod6 comment ?
Fact of the matter is, it wasn't negative. It consisted of positive feedback about registration, a small bug report about avatars, and an opinion about volunteer DJs.
So I figure they pushed a bit too hard (specially if you're trying to get folks on your board). By the way, I was eating their posts up on views...
My first impression of them : If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.
Maybe you could do some kind of congestion report, like normal radio stations do for traffic.
The only problem is that there is no traffic in Lineage2. I wonder if you could find something in L2 that there is a lot of, always seems to appear in the best spots and is very annoying.
DM, Warcry was run strictly by Volunteers for a LONG time. Look at Simutronics(another gaming company) 90% of thier GMs are volunteer and they were one of the leading online gaming companies for much of the dark ages.
And if you paid attention, they already HAVE 3 radio stations running with volunteer staff. This will be thier 4th.
We do have an "incentives" program that we do give our staff. The details of which I will not be discussing as it is for staff eyes only ;)
Before you start critizing the team, and the practices we have. Id really wish that you give L2R some time to form and be molded. Keep in mind the direction of our stations goes in the direction that the community (as a whole) wants - from music to formatting.
Thanks for the imput.

Greetings,
Ok, field this one, L2 radio community guy...
How is it that you hope to reach your objectives with the ressources you deploy (I mean, you hire people and don't pay them) ?
Also, you're hardly a hawk. You know the worst thing to say to a Troll when you walk on a board is to say you're a Troll.
If you have any questions, ... Feel free to contact me!
ROFL, you should trademark it. You'd make millions off the royalties.

Look buddy. I'm a black box tester. I don'T give a [923] about what you sell. I'll test it. Then I'll give a real critical view about it.
Either you can take it, or not. Forming, modeling, are things I do as a job. And then, during my leisure time, I like to do more of it... For free... Oh no wait, I pay to post around here.

Any suggestions anyone?
;)
The Daily Karma Report!!
who is red, where, why. and what armor they're wearing.
eidt: (not much to report about b*ts, karma report could actually be useful)
Sadly, I don't think I have any music that people would want to grind to.
"And now, to get you on your grinding way, we will listen to the the 1956 recording put out by Verve: "Ella and Louis" where Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong team up for one of the most memorable performances of their careers.
Sit back and take in "Moonlight in Vermont" and don't forget... watch out for those reds!"
First this isn't Sqally its his girlfriend he let me use his log in so I could post, cuz this sounds really awesome. I wont do it again I promise.

I'm like you Sovrath, I would love to be a dj just can't see people grinding to Toby Keith, or Gretchen Wilson. Well I do, but I love country music ;)

That's just like saying you won't cheat on your boyfriend.
This reminds me of a story about chimps.
A female chimp was foraging the ground for food, while her male chimp companion was closely watching her from the comfort of a tree branch.
And then, another excited male came and sat right next to the female, carefully hiding his erection to the male watcher, but showing it to the female.
And then, the male watcher turned his attention for a short while. The male intruder just had to put his hand on the shoulder of the female, and she quickly offered herself to him.
The moment you let your guard down, another chimp is bound to get your prize.
Amusing story. How does it relate to me allowing Fyre to use my log in to post on a topic that interested her??
I'm glad you liked it. It doesn't relate all that much to your girlfriend using your log to post, but more to my ability to trap wrong doers before the official instances could.
she has one but she just moved and is getting a new job and had to let her account lasp.
She can do whatever she wants because she likes me.
Sorry Sov, actually what she said was "I'm like you Sovrath". Bit of a difference... :(
:o
Uh... oh well.. time go get glasses
Hey, it's no big deal. I can't tell you the number of times I thought a woman said to me "Wow, Elro, you are such a he-man that I would love for us to roll around like naked monkeys in my hotel room all night long" when actually what they said was "SECURITY!!!"

The way it's looking and i know i've asked.
It will come out the same day as server transfers :)
so what, only 923 days from whatever day it happens to be? doenst sound so long. sorry you didnt get accepted :(
really, it makes no sense. they ask for volunteers and then deny them because they havent worked as a web radio host before? really, how many people have? (my guess is 30 worldwide) and of those people, how many are deeply devoted to playing L2? (my guess is 1, who came up with the idea) and of those people, how many have the time? (my guess, 0) id much rather listen to someone who skips every other word, forgets what their talking about, curses between skipped words, and has a genuine passion for the game, than someone who has a PhD in how to use a microphone, and has nothing to say. its L2 Radio, not Radio:L2.
The station manager and I have thoroughly gone through each and every of the applications and have selected yours for an interview to become part of our team! Please respond to this email with times that you would be able to meet for an interview during next week. I would ask that if at all possible you try to keep it after 5pm EST, if this is a problem then we may be able to work out something special for you. Expect the interview to last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. You should be familiar with SAM Broadcaster and have some music that would be appropriate for the radio. We are looking for exciting and interesting DJs to fill our ranks and want you to be as comfortable as possible on air.
And this is where i feel the whole thing was unfair.
Here are the
Requirements:
· Must be available Monday - Sunday
· Able to DJ at least 9 hours a week.
· Must be 18 or older.
· Must be willing to work in a team environment.
· Must be able to pass an audition with a TMSBroadcasting & NCsoft Rep.
· Passion for Lineage 2.
No where did i see anything that was a requirement
You should be familiar with SAM Broadcaster
The whole impression i am getting is only those that have some form of DJing experience are selected.
From what I hear, they had a very good amount of people apply for DJ positions. It is not surprising that they had to turn down some people. In any hiring process, you take the most qualified people whenever you can.
Splatter, you yourself said in thier IRC Channel that your musical tastes probably didnt fit what they were looking for.
You people make so little sense to me "wah wahh! the station isnt up fast enough!" "Wah wah! They want people with experience!" So conflicted! Experienced people need less training, and allow them to get the station up and running faster.
According to everything I've seen so far, it's classified as a "General Rock" station. Now, that means about nothing, but it's supposed to be a PG-13 range broadcast.
can not wait until lineageradio goes on air. Wonder what music is this station going to play.
Did they even announce a date? Many web design guides say that it is bad style to release a site without actual content. - Or would you consider this unfair criticism?
not interested that much in the music. But i liked to see it similar to lineage2 ingame musci not some op rock or metal . dosent sound proffessional for l2 game. Must be something fantasy and chill like for a relacked gameplay, dont need any violance related from the music, because of the feelings that some players might get from a rock like music.
if you indent to do this, make it right.
but at most i am interested in the news, interviews and other stuff it will have in it.

So Basicly its going to be like listening to 103.7 while playing L2....... Hate to be a downer. But the only thing that could save this project is some good DJ's cause it looks like the music is going to be more generic crap

It's classified "general rock", but lineageradio seeks to be a station for the community. As people determine what they want to hear, the playlists adjust.
Well what is seeks and what actually happens are yet to be seen. I will check out those other 2 stations when I get home from work. But I read earlier someone said one of them was mostly Metal.
The only thing I can think off that I would label "Fantasy" music off the top of my head is Blackmore's Night - and in all honesty, they probably also fall into one of those neat little music categories the lot of which I can't distinguish.
Well, who says rock or Metal (a very very wide music category) doesn't have some Fantasy Stile songs, too? In fact "fantasy" in itself can be interpreted as a very broad catergory, too. For me fantasy doens't just mean dark forests with glittering seas in it where unicorns live but also cruel battles of epic sizes and very much action in it. Regarding the music that means that in my opinion not only music like most of the l2 ingame songs, but also faster songs that make you feel like beeing in an huge battle of epic scale can be called "fantasy" music.
Ok, back to metal/rock and fantasy
I dont hear that much different bands and thus only know a few songs, but I could right now tell you at least 20songs that fit into the class "fantasy". To tell only two there are "Nightwish - Elvenpath" (makes me think of L2 everytim i hear it..) and "Hammerfall - The Dragon lies bleeding". In general just listen to a few Hammerfall/Nightwish/Rhapsody songs and you will hear a lot of Fantasy..
Sure there are a lot of songs that are "fantasy style" and not rock or metal, but that doesn't exclude fantasy style from these two musical genres.
