Farmers and Raid Bosses

Just wondering...

Is the problem with Raid Bosses and farmers targetting them moments after they spawn just a problem with organization on the part of the non-farmer. I only ask this because everytime I've ever been invited to a raid, it took almost an hour before we got everyone situated to fight. People have to walk their dogs, check their mail, grab some pizza, reboot..etc. Farmers usually have to be at a certain point with no excuses. Is it that hard to organize a non-farmer raid and just take back the Raid Boss you're after?

Da Smookster...
yeah you can get a few
but if i learned anything after the last bauim spawn its that waiting 7 hours for a boss to spawn is quite hard for real players, but farmers dont seem to have a problem with it
In a way, it is - they're not using any means not available to legit players to get to the raids (scouts mostly), but the problem is that they have all their people on call at a moment's notice all the time. And that's something that you can only achieve with professional players.

If a real alliance raiding half of Aden out from under the rest of the server, that's props to their logistics and dedication. If farmers do it, they get paid for it and should rot. :p

True, so true...

It really seems that many "normal" players have really short attention spans and also no real clue about when you kind of HAVE to stay at the computer so that you do not keep 30-40 other players from doing something.

some of my favourites:

"Come to xxx spot now, we are going to raid". Fifteen minutes later, lots of people are waiting at spot xxx, some are missing. "Where are you guys?" - "Oh, we are in the arena, we will come in a few minutes". So everybody has to wait because you just HAVE to pwn a few newbies in the arena right now?

Everybody is on the way to the raid boss, and then one of these happens:
- "Oh, I have to go to work now, sorry" - you did not know this ten minutes ago when parties were formed?
- "I am hungry, I am going to cook something, be back in 20 minutes" - you cannot wait for a few more minutes until the boss is down?
- "I am not signed up, I cannot port up to TOI / enter the catacomb / port to the priest of dawn port spot" - why have you not signed up? In a clan/ally everybody should sign up for the same side so that you can prevent EXACTLY this.

People were told to log on at x:xx time and meet for Antharas raid / other big raid. Time now is x:xx plus 45 minutes. Player logs on and asks "are we already meeting somewhere for the raid?"

People are on the way to heart of the lair to port in to Antharas. Some idiots fool around and fall of the bridge, so that they have to soe out and walk back into lair all the way AGAIN, while everybody has to wait.

Some other idiots cannot sit still for even one minute during buffing at the raid boss, misclick and accidentally attack the raid boss.

Some other idiots cannot sit still for even one minute during buffing at the raid boss, flag on other players there and accidentally kill a SH/Necro who was on low HP for CDL.

Player decides to go AFK while on the way to the raid boss, puts AF on somebody else and leaves to prepare some food. A minute later, his toon gets stunned by a mob and AF breaks. Everybody has to wait there for the player to come back ten minutes later. Using AF while on the way to a boss and then going AFK should be a punishable offense imho.

Ah well, there are so many others. Bottom line, though, is that organizing normal players for some big event and expecting it to work out flawlessly, without delays, is impossible. If you tell them to be somewhere at time x, they won't be there. If you ask them to make sure they have time, something will come up. It's just how it is.
Well... Varaya,

You make this all sound as an army... If I would like that, I will join the army.
I am playing this game for fun... and if RL issues arise, they will have always an higher priority then anything that happens in game.
Sorry to say so, when I see those "army-like" alliances/clans/players I have to laugh. But then again, I am only a silly roleplayer :p
If you want to raid you have to follow the leaders commands. Thats it Plain and Simple. You have to be there, and if he says JUMP, you jump.

That is evry other one is here in the Raid to kill the Boss and get the Loot. If you just say 40 other People and their time is less important than you, you deserve to be Kicked.

If you join a clan who is raiding on a organized level, you have to follow.

Even as a Roleplayer, i bet you would like to do Raids. Try to organize them and get your Clanmates togeteher, with something like *A great Danger has arisen in the Lands of Aden. A Mahun Leader has ben spottet to rally the remaining troops of the Bandits Stronghold. High priest Leopold has asked me to take care of the Matter. He is holding a mass for the brave Warriors who will go out and remove this Menace to the People of Aden at 20:00 in the Church of Dion. I expect evryone of us to be there and go out to slay him. *

Try it, and then tell about your success. :)

Falexi SE
Taska's clan has and does raid - just on remote bosses and more spontaneously. It's quite possible.

However, I do have to say that raiding in a well-organised group is much more relaxing and fun.
As Maline already said, we do them... and mostly indeed spontaneously.

A sign fro that something seriously is wrong when is the group-leader puts you on ignore because you said something he/she didn't like, then I know enough. No group for me (I was rolling over the group from laughing when Skud placed me on ignore).

I am not so much annoyed if "RL issues" come up, like having to walk the dog, or answering a phone call, or running out of the house because it is about to collapse. And I am also not a raid coordinator myself, I am just a standard participant. But it really annoys me when somebody apparently just does not care that his own behaviour causes thirty other people to stand around for fifteen minutes, waiting for him, just because e.g. he had to go get a sandwich RIGHT NOW and not, say, a few minutes later, when the boss is dead. So there are RL issues where anybody will understand that you have to go afk, and simple "ah, I would like to do that right now" stuff where others will - correctly - ask "did he have to do that now?"

And when you have something really large planned, like an Antharas raid, where over one hundred people are on the way to port in to the boss, with many people from different time zones and only a small "time window" where everybody really has time to do the raid, it is just plain courtesy not to pull some stupid stunt that causes you to have to soe out of lair and come back all the way from Giran, possibly with a whole party (who also has to soe out then) to help you come back through all the deep lair mobs.

Really, I hate military style "do what I tell you" people as much as you do. I once decided to help out at a lowbie raid with my SE and simply soe'd out after a while because the raid leader obviously thought he could order me around "why did you not buff this? why did you not recharge? Do this and that right now!".

But I also hate people who quite plainly just do not care when other players have to sit around doing nothing just because they have to wait for them, or people who are so hyperactive that they just cannot sit still for one minute and have to flag here and click there until disaster strikes (on one of our Antharas raids one of those super-hyperactive players actually ported into Antharas' lair early so that the timer started ticking, and several parties who were still on the way to the heart could not join the raid because of that - even though people were specifically told several times to not even LOOK at the heart of warding for this very reason).
I agree 100% with you. It's never OMG the baby is on fire I have to go, it's usually

brb drink
making food
bathroom (which takes like 15 mins for weird reasons)
phone
arena fights
I need SS/SPS

or those things you should have known about ahead of time ... such as the guy we use to have who would beg for a party for 10 minutes and once he got in would say "sorry just forgot I have to do something bye". ALMOST EVERY TIME.

When all those little delays make you lose the boss, especially when you see it drop a maj helm or something, you start to understand why army like mentality is really needed.

Lol Reminds me of ToI.

get a group going get up to lvl 5 and every thing stops dead cold there, after you get to the middle. like 2 people say they got to go! Agggg!!!

Ellie did you get my last PM?

This person should not be asked to raid.

In my clan, once we have enough people for the raid to go it happens. Very little waiting for people. They can allows get in on the next raid, since we do several in a row.

lol yes, happens always in the "no porting" weeks. You get a group going, you run up TOI, and then - for us usually not at TOI5, but instead on 8 or 9 - somebody suddenly has to leave for work or school, and it's usually the BD. Then you have to fight your way back down to 5 again (of course the one who left soe'd out immediately and did not stay to help get down), pick up a replacement, and once you are finally up on TOI10 and about to start, somebody else suddenly remembers that sorry but he has no time left now after all of this and he has to leave (and of course only then, not when you were back down on 5 the 2nd time and could have grabbed a replacement easily). I always wonder why people join a TOI 10 party in a no porting-week when they only have like 1 or 2 buff rounds of time.

Argh.

Are you SURE about this?
I had the occasion with an alt the other day to watch something interesting to me. A player I will call "hghgf" was farming only the little silvery cougar beast things by the spider's nest (DE land). I was questing for the spiders so we occupied the same space. Normally I steer clear of those folks so I have never observed them closely--not once in 6 months.
So, we are nearly together.
Every once in awhile I kill his beast when it spawns next to me (they respawn really quickly). In the area we stood there were generally 3 beasts--he killed them, they respawned and sometimes I killed them just to make him stand around (lol).
Then I noticed that although all mobs were within my sight window, he started running to the next mob BEFORE IT MATERIALIZED. And he was right every single time. He arrived some distance away just as the beast solidified.
It sure looked to me like 'hghgf' could "sense" the respawn location before I could see it. I absolute saw this happen a few feet from me a couple of times...'hghgf' runs toward me from quite a distance.....as he arrives at a spot near me the beast materialized and he killed it!!!
Maybe you all knew this was how it worked but I sure didn't!
It even left me wondering how they could have that level of code detail in the program?
So, I'm not sure all 'players' are using the same approaches to locating raid bosses. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a mechanism that alerted certain folks the minute a raid boss was GOING to spawn.
Just me being cynical and paranoid..........

and, yes, i did file a petition.
Was that a raid boss scout though? The RB farmer clans usually try to keep their accounts clean to avoid bans - no bots, no direct involvement in the money trades, etc.

As far as running towards unmaterialised mobs goes - you do not see the mob the instant it spawns depending on your lag. I can't tank well in US parties because they get impatient while I'm waiting for mobs to turn visible on my screen - eventually despite playing tankish, I had to start assisting off someone who could see them sooner. :p
Don't raid bosses spawn on a set time schedule much like the blacksmith and merchant of mammon? A better question....Is it possible to map the times that Raid Bosses should be up for each hour of the day?

Da Smookster...
hahaha my last post into this one was deleted by mystrail!!

Cause I blow up curseing out the idiot that posted another stupid thread about bots and farmers, like as if there isn't enought of them around!!

GG people stop it with the 20 threads every week about bots and farmers. get off your lazy butt, organize your server and go on a all out rampage on them.

Oh wiat you can't cause then you'd not have any gear.
I aslo get slightly annoyed when parties and raid bosses take forever to organize....
Living in Lineage 2 addicted familly the time on the computer is restricted >< I normally can squeeze in 1 to 2 hours of gameplay every few days... I log on, ask if there is any party going.... someone starts organizing a group.

-"Meet up at XXXX" he says
Of course me being at the other end of the world have to pay 30-50k in porting fees (did I mention the only cash Im "allowed" to keep is the money I make while hunting... so Im broke >< )
- "Where is everyone"
- " brb have to do xXXX, food, have to go get SS, phone " whatever... I do realise that some things cant be avoided but >< dont take 1 hout to do it.
- So a few of us are waiting at location XXXX for party or raid boss. 1 hour goes by.... and I only had 1 hour to play...
- Then I have to say " G2g guys, somone else wants computer" and if I dont log out asap ( as in soe and type why Im soeing while im im porting)... I swear that person will unplug the computer from the wall><
- I just wasted the precious little money I had porting in hopes of being able to lvl ><

PLEASE DONT MAKE PEOPLE WAIT AROUND
I said at the beggining that it annoys me.. but in truth I hate it. Some people have no respect for others.
YOU might have plenty of time to waste joking around, wasting your time... but I dont! and im sure im not the only person in this situation. So dont f*** around, get to it and act like adults! I swear organizing raids/parties must feel like babysitting preschool kids.

It is for this reason what my toon that I can play on my own personal time has only gained 1 lvl in 3-4 months (mid 50s so it should be easy to lvl up ><) No Im not complaining at my ally members, Ive recently swicthed clan/ally. But with pvp gone wild on my server its hard to find a random group when you in war

I am done *****ing now
So then to actively organize a Raid...and to make sure you have a good go of it. What do you think you should have before you start recruiting people? Me personally...I think that anyone that's shouting for a raid should already have a tank and two healers available. Plus, it would be great if everyone would not try to get buffs before they come to a raid. I have never been in a raid where the buffs I had when I got there were still active by the time the raid started. I kid you not....it's always an hour before we get started.

During this Seven Spirits event we had an event boss raid over on Alligator Island. I promise you...we started organizing the raid and l left my computer and laid down and took a nap....I woke up 30 minutes later and it still took 10 additional minutes before everyone showed up. It's pretty sad when you can do this...

What do you feel is an absolute must to have before you will join a raid party?

Da Smookster...
Anyone?
Depends on the party.. I used to have a regular raid train a few lvls ago.. Everytime we had the basic core of the raid party online we would go scout at least 4 bosses AND THEN PM ppl that were in our friends list. The last option was recruiting in town, bc thats what takes long. It was not rare doing 10 bosses in 3 hours, and even 2 bosses in one buff round.. Fun old times..
Reminds me when it took me 16 hours before christmas to get 1% in TOI, simply because people just constantly did crap like that and either ruined the party, had to bring in new ones, got me killed or whatnot.

Me: WHY THE HELL WEREN'T YOU HEALING???? 3 OF US DIED!!
SE: Oh, I was hungry and went for a bite to eat.
Me: Next time tell us if you're leaving.
SE: I guess.

¤)()"#(")#"=)¤#!!!!

What do you feel is an absolute must to have before you will join a raid party?

A tank and depending on what lvl raid boss a resonable amount of healers that will heal tank and arnt there for recharging duty. Raids just go downhill if your healers/rechargers/nukers are out of mana. So dont forget you need bishops/SEs/EEs
I've been leveling in the same field in DV for a week staright and noone has even touched the raid boss there while I have been around....Witch something.

Is that because she is too high or too low?
Probably doesn't drop anything interesting or is too low level.
I think she's too mean.. :p
