So there i was cutting across the fields in elmore to save some time, and i jumped off this mountain only to land at the feet of a grizzly. I thought no problem it's dark blue....
Two seconds later there i layed, face down the pure shock on my face was priceless. Then it dawned on me....

Yep, I had one of those moments last night although I didn't die.
While soloing I use BW heavy but carry devotion set for buffing. After a round a buffs I forgot to switch back to my BW and immediately went after 2 Royal Cave Servants. Once they were dead, I was shocked to see I had less than 500 hp left. Ordinarily, I would have 1,900 to 2,000 left after an exchange like that.
I called myself stupid...then lucky...swiched to BW and went back to business. Had I died, I would have freaked.
I was two boxing my SE and Warlord in Skyshadow Meadow when I loaded up my SS and went charging some Innersens and Pobbies. I made sure I had three good groups following me before I turned around and started attacking.
I was surprised by the fact that I wasn't cutting through them like I normally would and even more surprised by the damage they were doing. I went to use my revival skill when it dawned on me....
I was attacking with the SE!!
As I died I looked over my shoulder and saw my Warlord standing in the distance looking at me as if he was saying...

Yes, same thing happened to me. But different end result
I ended up going in a necro and was swimming down when I noticed that all my hp's were gone. I didn't fall down the necro shaft which has happened before. I started downing healing potions just in case.
I have a lot of moments like this - they usually involve the fact that for the longest time, Unsummon was on slot 11 of my pet commands bar, while slot 11 of my normal bar holds Servitor Ultimate Defense.
Needless to say, when I UD it's usually so safe after that that I don't mind letting the pony run back to my feet - while my cleric was picking up the drops, I could only really wonder why Unsummon trains never switched aggro that well when I'm trying to train bots or farmers.
I knew a guy was comeing to kill my red se. So i buffed up and healed myself to full and waited for him. (i had been cdling) When he came back, I logged the se and flagged on him. He flagged back and we went at it. He didn't drop as fast as I thought he would and he had just finished my cp when I started to get scared. I was scared cause I assumed he was a lot higher than me.... then he crit me down to like 100 hp and I nuked him one last time and he died. Suprised as hell that I killed him I looked at damage logs and realised I forgot to switch hotbars and was cdling him.
Fall damage was bugged for a long time, still is IMO.
I remember my first encounter with fall damage that killed me..
I was leveling my lil Orc fighter, and was doing the Butcher quest, the one where you have to kill a mob 3 times, just across a bridge. This was during early open beta, so there was a queue of like 10-15 people, and we were all bored out of our minds! So occastionally one of us would pull a mob that we would all kill together (overkill?).
I was on my way back, and I tohught I'd bring a present to my fellow orcs, got a bear following me, running over the bridge.. then I ported up and down a couple times, and ended up on the other side.. with 1hp.. HELP!! Nice run from town again <.<
Ever since I got my subclass going, an SWS, I've had problems remembering to put on the right grade jewerly, main is 77 and the sub is now 63. So I was going into PVP, switched back to my main, happily changed all my gear, I thought.. All ready to fight I started shooting arrows, scared away some SR's then had to advance in the other direction, there was a Necro after me as well. Necro started his Dark Vortex, I started to use Stun shot. I was at like full HP, around 5k, then BOOM! There I was face down, *** up in the dirt.. the necro had done 13.2k damage to me, and it wasn't a crit! Yep, no jewerly HURTS! Happened a couple times to me, both on main and sub :p
C2 I believe... you didn't take falling damage for the longest time. You also didn't drown, I wrote up an old class change guide in C1 where I mention sitting in a river to rest, you can't do that now.
Early C2 I ran through field of silence and 8 shaman lizards (dark blue to me) brought me down in seconds by spamming vamp claw. That was my introduction to C2 and the need to upgrade from elven jewlery.

u could always drown in the ocean afaik. Hut not the rivers... I once ran from floran to de village in the rivers cause I was scared of mobs.
well, I was fighting an archer mob ( believe it was a taik orc archer, shortly after I became a warlock) with my kitty. archer mob backs up, and goes over the edge of the cliff, kitty goes over the cliff after the mob. I, not thinking, follow. since this was c3, and thus no pet shots, kitty hadn't done enough damage to take agro off me. so, I hit bottom and roughly 1 millisecond later I get hit by an arrow. couple of seconds after that, my kitty finishes the orc off, to stand next to my flattened corpse.
I've since learned that if an archer backs over terrain I can't follow, run in the other direction. either he'll come back after you, or lose interest.
I was running from 3 MOBs that were about to kill me. I thought if I ran into another server line they might drop aggro so I was going to short cut it across a body of water. I start swimming and of course my speed drops, no worries the MOBs speed will drop too. Nope. MOBs dont lose speed in water like players do so now I have these 3 MOBs beating me down and I don't make it to the server line. Mental note: Don't use water as an escape route.
Darke blue MOB chasing me as I approach a cata. No wrries i will swim down and port through... I didn't feel like stopping and swinging twice to rid myself of the MOB. it just simply wasn't worth the time. I fall through the water hit the bottom and have 0 HP. Dark blue MOB one shots me. Mental note: take the time to rid yourself of MOBs while you have the chance.
Giants Cave. Me and an EE partied together and we pull a beast lord when she has no mana. Oops! I am yelling "Party Recall! Party recall!!" She says, "No mana!" we run together with the entire Beast Lord crew in tow and as soon as she build enough mana to Party Recall she activates Recall. She says, "Sorry I hit the wrong button." I say, "OMG you left me!" I activate guts and run until I lose aggro. I lived! I walk back to the Beast Lord crew and set up a shop in the middle of them titled "Pets For Sale"
First or second day playing the game I ran over an edge (wanted to get a closer look, didn't think you could fall, just came from a game where there was no falling.) Hit the bottom for 5k damage or something like that...was astounded I lived, until I got hit by an aggro inside SODA.
Also died running through a few dark blue aggros and having a huge lag spike, huge. Nickel and dimed to death :(

Duh! I think everyone already know this trick. It's been around forever. The main problem with it though is that it doesnt work until midnight CST after a server maintenence. So thats about 12 hours where you don't have safe out using that trick.
Yep happened to me too just the other night. There I was with my Destroyer running around just outside Hunters (where the Larkings and Wierd Wyms are). Just across the bridge I spotted the RB (really big guy on his own can't remember name). Well I wandered over and decided to try and get a group going. This was going along nicely until someone asked me it's name. I clicked on it to check ........
Guess who had already done that???
Next thing my little orc is running in all guns blazing and clobbers him one. mmmmmm now in a rock and a hard place situation. Do I let him kill me or jump (knowing he'd jump too so probably pointless). I jumped, which would have been ok except it was all the way down to Catas of Forbidden Path - a llllooooonnnnggggg way down. Guess who died.
I won't ever check a name again without being sure I've not already done that. lol
ya know, first time I started playing and got knocked down low hp by a mob, I jumped in the river to get away. I thought that either the mobs couldn't swim, or at least couldn't swim very fast and I'd get away just fine. turns out I was at least partially right. mobs don't swim one bit. they do, however, run underwater just fine.
i think everyone when new has done that at least once.
I've also jumped off a cliff on purpose when running from a mob. my thought was if I take 5 zillion damage from falling, so should the mob, and then it is simply a matter of who hits who first. so, off I jump. I go from low hp to 0 hps. mob goes from half hps to, well, half hps. ARRRRGGGGHHHH, run FASTER!
Ohh, that reminds me of when I started my first toon! My orc! :D
I was very very new to the game, and for the first time I saw the ocean. The ocean has always been special to me, even the virtual kind :p So I jumped in! :D ...But I couldn't get up :confused: -You couldn't swim back then, so I ran around on the bottom of the sea, trying to find a way up. But there are no beaches in Elmore. At least not on the orc side, I don't think. So I drowned :(
And then there was the time on C3 PTS, where I found the Oracle of Dusk...And I jumped in. And drowned. :confused:
Just walk out the south gate and down the hill from the orc village. Take a right at the bottom and walk straight towards the water. It's not a huge beach but its there. There is another one to the east along the southern coast but again it's pretty small. Both are more of a 'cove' or 'bay' than they are the typical 'beach'.
I jumped off the edge of the cliff outside of HV so I could go to FP Cata. I got in and was standing by the GK waiting for the rest of my crew. Syn and NM start to PvP around us and I am watching, quite entertained. I the NM person drop dead and drop quite a few items, including a +3 DC Helm. Which was odd cause she wasn't read and they were at war.
People in my party that aren't there yet keep asking me what happened and how did I die. I tell em I am not dead I had just jumped off the cliff and hadn't gotten my HP back yet. I chat with other people and in a few minutes (people still asking me why I am dead) I went to move and saw "Retun To Village" button wtf? I really am dead!!
So I start asking people why I am dead and when it happened lol I was there the whole time, but never saw it happen. The NM person accidently targeted me and because my HP was so low they one shotted me with a force attack macro, she went red and died. Before I could even see that she turned red, upon her death she went white again and dropped all her stuff. I felt bad she lost her stuff, but was more in shock I had died and didn't even know it.
She was kind enough to give me a Brez, which had to suck even more for her cause now she didn't just lose her +3 DC Helm and other stuff, but she lost 1.4 mil for a Brez.
