I just got the game few days ago. I'm lvl 12 Dark Elf. At this point I'm using daggers.
My question is if there is anyway to shorten the downtime between killing mobs. As it is now I can kill like 2 mobs then I have low hp's and have to sit down for a while.. just sit there and watch the hp's slowly rise.
Is there any way to boost the hp regen in any way? Like.. regen potion or anything? I've seen the heal potions in the shop but they're pretty expensive and I only use one if I'm in deep trouble.
Yeah I did look in the weapon shop.. Heh.. I didn't have anything near the money to get the upgrade for a new dagger.
Guess I'll just troll the board inbetween the mobs. Maybe I'll bump into a suggestion along the way.
Hunt mobs that are lower level and as long as you have no VR and/or Drain a Bow would be better then a Dagger to keep going. Regen wise not much you can do.

Errr.. VR?
And I've used all my SP on dagger special attack thingy

Its the shortform of Vampiric Rage buff, which Shillien Oracle/Elder and Warcryer get later in the game and is also a newbie buff from 13-21 for Fighter. With that your downtime will reduce drasticly. I think you get VR lvl 3 or 4 which means somewhere around 10% of the damage you deal with melee attacks you receive back as hitpoints. Specials don't count. Oh and in case you didn't knew: Might Mortal has the highest chance to land if you use it from behind a Mob.
for starters if this is your first character you will want to take advantage of the upgrade system and the newbie buffs. for the buffs locate the "newbie guide" in your village and ask for the assist magic.
for the upgrade system, consult the weapons and armor shop vandors when you have a bit of cash. mind you wont be able to upgrade from the stuff you STARTED the game with, that actually has to stay in your inventory, but anything you buy from the store you can upgrade to the next item for a fee. it works out to be JUST BARELY under the price of buying that item outright from the store, so it works only if you intend on using the item to grind with for a while.
if you cant afford the top weapons or armor from the shop, pay a visit to lineage2.stratics.com and find their compendium of quests.
take a couple quests to boost your bucks, and try to upgrade what youve got.
the buffs will make grinding a BREEZE, not to mention the bonus free soulshots (when used double the physical damage done by your hit -- excludes skills ) you get from the newbie guide.
good luck, and hope you can do better at your grinding until level 20 and your next class transfer quest. im sure youve got questions about that.
There should be TWO weapon quests in the DE Village. One at level 10 and one at 12. They might not be easy, but well worth the effort at your level. You can sell the worse weapon and keep/upgrade the better one. Try to get a weapon that can use soulshots and use those. You should get something like 12000 of them from the starting quests, if you're a new player. As others advised, take advantage of the newbie buffs.

First off, are you killing mobs that you can dispatch in a few hits? So mobs that con green for instance?
I consistently see new players strive to kill mobs that yield more and more xp. The problem is that it is better to get less xp but to be able continually hunt than to get a lot of xp and have to sit every mob.
Hunt greens or even light blue mobs if needed. At lower lvls green should be fine.
eh, with the newbie buffs, for fighters anyway, once you get VR you can hunt whites nonstop. especially with the 100 free helaing pots you end up with.
Newbie quests will give you soulshots and healing potions. With those and the newbie buffs, if you have downtime, you're seriously doing something wrong, and should probably describe exactly how you play so we can make more detailed suggestions.
level of quest : person to talk to (R = repeatable, W = weapon)
you are at a severe dissadvantage if you do not do all he quests of your hometown and do the repeatables ones a lot. also note that the that person that suggested you "farm in dwarf town" is complete BS. you cannot use the manor system in dwarf town becasue there is no castle in elmore until C5 comes out. talk to the manor manager in dark elf town and search player guides for info on how to use the manor system. if you find yourself not able to afford equipment even after this, make alts and conserve ss. if you cant find these people ask the noobie guide to locate them for you (i think i mispelled a few).
8+R : trader vollodos
10+R : tetriarch kaitar
11+R : trader minaless
11+W : blacksmith karod (in the weapon shop)
15+ : magister vlasty
16+ : tetriarch talloth
18+R : astaron
15+? : the werehouse manager (do this one when you are going to leave DE village to change classes at level 19)
21+ : tetriarch vellior
PS: never sell your materials to the NPC stores, players in giran will buy them for 10x that price.
Thank you all for the usefull info/suggestions. It's been very helpfull
At this point I' now lvl 15 with a nice dagger from a lvl 10 quest and find myself having shorter downtime. I loved the vampire thingy buff from the newbie helper. And the 100 potions that I got from quest was very nice aswell.
I think I found a good repeatable quest I can do now that includes hunting green skeletons where I have to find 10 bones deliver them. I got about 8000 adena iirc by turning it in.
I allready did the quest from the dwarf in warehouse.. I had a nice sightseeing of the area south of Darkelf Village.. was quite nice.. a long run back and forth tho.. but I enjoyed the view (c;
And another thing.. Will I be able to dual wield daggers at any point? Or should I buy a shield?
You will never be able to dual wield daggers, and daggers work better without a shield, simply for the reason the only classes who specialise in daggers are evasion classes, and shields reduce evasion.
As a Dwarf you get blunt weapon masteries after level 20, so you are best using a blunt, although lots of people use duals, but you are best not doing that until at least C grade, when you can get damage dealing SA's on them.
check http://lineage2.stratics.com for quest guides. There is also quests that give you abundant supplies of soul shots. Using those in conjunction with the buffs from the newbie guide should keep you going with no downtime at all.
