we have a big problem with those kind of event, i mean the event with mob that spawn and drop huge load of stuff : the drop happen whatever happen, and that's bad.
i explain :
usually, mob drop according to your lvl, and if you are 9lvl or more, the drop lower by 90% (even more).
but event mob keep a 100% drop for any lvl, even if the mob is lvl24 and you 75+ (you begin to understand).
and so, i saw lvl75+ (yes, third class character) scouting the world and finding and killing any event mob ALONE and getting all drop... (is it fair ?).
yes they cannot have all but since they know where it spawn (random by NCSoft mean in 2-3 different area) and as any lifeless player, they are scouting everytime.
finally, this event just kkep the rich more rich and the poor not quite less poor.
so, since the encounter are "random" (lost in nowhere area) and since it is high lvl (i encouter a lvl82 mob, i'm 52) and since it is "farmed" by nolife players (from powerful ally, so no hope to stop them), this event still a "rumor" cause my hope to find an event mob is close to none... (like for Wabbits, never see anyone)
no need to say "me, i found one mob and killed it", cause you just missed the 99 previous ones sweety and you just don't know it and one time luck is not "usual stuff".
event should not be useless scouting and everyone shoul have his own chance (as for pumpkin, letters, Xmas tree).
NCSoft is very proud of his brand new "random area spawn system" that allow mob to spawn everywhere :
- usually (for exemple); the mob spawn in front of a pillar, now he can spawn to the right of the pillar, to the left of teh pillar even to the back of the pillar and even if it is incredible it can spawn to the right-front, left front,.....
you understood that random spawn is quite poor cause it moved only a step away...
even without making Antharas spawing in Talking island (it could be fun but not the subject), they could make it more "randow" than what we have now, preventing lvl75+ to get all the spawn.
i cant believe they all spawned at the same spots...i mean come on! make em spawn ANYWHERE, alone, or with a small pack of 3-5 in random non specific locations...
Did you even read the announcements? Guess not, but would have helped you.
Now dont blame NCSoft for your own failure.
Nice event, loved the riddles and porting around searching. Our clan found quite some event mobs, drops were ok too, not too much, not disapointing, just right.
I've been pretty disappointed with this event. Drops have not been at all good, just a bunch of random EA and EW scrolls, ranging from D-grade to the occasional S-grade. Then of course all the massively useful L2-Day scrolls like Agility.
On top of that, on our way to Antharas the other day we encountered at least 3 Raid bosses deep in the cave that were blue to a good majority of the people in the group. One was easy to avoid, although he was in a room that was packed FULL of event mobs. Another was surrounded by mobs at second bridge, kinda blended in and some people accidentally hit it, getting a whole party killed and a few people paralyzed or silenced. The other was right in the middle of the last bridge before portal, with all his minions. We had to use our arrow keys to get past without accidentally clicking on him. It's hard enough to get 100 people organized and all up to Portal without all the ******ed raid bosses and event mobs to deal with. Seriously, why spawn a raid boss at second bridge that is in its mid-60s or lower? (Not exactly sure what level it was, just know it was blue.)
Haha, yesterday we went to Forge of Gods to escape from all the event stuff and to just exp a little in peace and quiet. We went pretty deep in and took a room, killed the first mob there and what happens - it drops l2day scrolls :)
Now that was fun, Forge of Gods event mobs spawning ... in Forge of Gods :) sneaky, sneaky...
The only problem that bothered me was the same as with yours - there should definitely be a penalty for hitting lower-level groups, and spawns should probably be more in line with the level of people expected to be levelling in that area.
Although the drops should have been a lot better I liked the event, especially the riddles. I emptied out the ants nest myself and made several mill in loot there, killed some mobs under IT, in sea of spores, around IT, on skylancers mountain TWICE and under the mountain. I made out quite well.
I agree. I even think that was brought up last time we had an event of this nature. I guess NCsoft doesn't agree that there should be a drop penalty.
There shouldnt be a drop penalty there should be a 2 minute stun or something otherwise higher levels will still kill the mobs just for the hell of it.
I've done the killing with a big group and small group of the event mobs BUT out of everything thats been killed I've never seen 1 thing drop not even 1 thing drop good which sucked & I haven't found the exp to be that good either! (maybe b/c it was a big group?)
This seems very odd. I didn't see a single event mob (except raid bosses) under level 70. I looked all over the place, and never under 70 anywhere. The raid bosses were fun. I have to say, one of the biggest problems with L2 is that people can't raid together unless they are all in the tiny window where the boss isn't dark blue or dark red (since you won't really scratch a dark red). I found several bosses, but it was always tricky finding enough DD's, tanks, and healers all the right levels to manage it.
Agree--my share of drops will sell for about 6 million. First time i've felt rich in the whole game!
I took mobs with group twice and took all mobs but boss myself twice (in starter areas you can shout FOREVER without a response).
For those complaining about access...I ported to frozen waterfalls near orcland and there was an event spawn. I slowly started to take them down. Got a couple nice drops for my levels but the mobs were light red to me so I decided to find some help.
I went to village and shouted for group members for event boss--no answers. Ported to gludio....shouted--no answers. Ported to DION....shouted--no answers.
I ported back and took the remaining event mobs and left the boss.
I then retraced to see if I could get any type of group for a quick hit on the boss--no answers.
This was 8:30--9:00 pm eastern time.
I thought the event was great....wish I could have dropped the bosses solo since I can't find players who will actually LEAVE A TOWN anymore.
Whimps..........
Wow..you guys just didn't search hard enough or had really bad luck. I put an alt on TI and another by Elven Village and did 'the rounds' whenever I could. I can't count the number of group mobs I solo'd. My clan (again, with our lowbie alts) took out probably 30 event raid bosses this week, and we all came out really good. My main didn't get any attention this week, because I realized very quickly that the level 80+ mobs just weren't worth it, when I could get basically the same loot from the level 20 mobs on TI. I think the key to this event was to take out the raid bosses...the lower level bosses only took 4-6 people, and only took a few minutes to kill.
Since the start of the event, I made 2 full +4 elven jewelry sets, a +5 SOR, made all my d-armor and c-armor +3 (but blew lots of stuff too...I have over 4k d crystals now). What do I have left?
59 EAD
29 EWD
8 EWC
15 EAC
96 Empower Scrolls
44 Acumen Scrolls
27 BREZ
and I can't remember how many quick heal potions and BSOE's, and I must have well over 400 other l2day scrolls.
The event was story based and required some engagement and active participation - very well executed if you ask me. I wasn't bothered to play it much, but I think on a whole, apart from the blue thing, it was one of the best yet.
I'm really suprised to see so many people complain about the drops. Our clan went out and did raids every day of the event. Along with all the misc drops of scrolls and enchants we got
1 Draconic Bow
1 Sealed Imperial Crusader Helm
1 Arcana Helm
1 Soul bow
Maybe we just got really lucky although we were killing bosses non stop. I figured others were having the same type of luck with the drops.
Either way this beats another hunt the bunny event.

Those are all drops you could get if you killed the boss in its normal spawn location.
The event drops didn't go any higher than B grade enchants and level 10 soul crystals.
theres only like 1% .. hell i'd gander a 0.5% of the people that got much if anything...
Next, sure the annoucements are nice... if you are to even see them... Sorry, but you HAVE to be logged in to see them... they don't just flash up on your screen while your doing your speadsheets and typing up emails.
Secondly, drops were horrid..... lvl 80+ mobs... 150 mobs.... maybe MAYBE 10 drops... 2 b weapon enchants and 3 armor enchants and a few useless scrolls.... 150 mobs.. 10 items.... Event? a treasure hunter would have more lucky running around blazing swamps and opening chest... and getting s grade or a grade enchants....
Except that there are now double the amount of raid bosses - and they are not camped by farmers.
I think the pure availability of high level RBs should not be underestimated.
PS: Every time I killed a group of mobs or was in a party who killed one, I got good drops. I think the only good part for high level players was the RBs really, but there's nothing wrong with an event for us lowbies either. ^_~
Im in the same Clan as Meate, and my drop list reads about the same as his. Im over 100 empower scrolls though.
To those who dont want lowbie mobs to drop event items, that just opens the door for higher level griefers to kill the mobs just to screw with lowbie players. Either way, it will be taken by high level people.
Like Meate said, it wasnt worth the time to kill the high level mobs, simply because the loot was not worth the risk of XP loss. I died twice at high level spawns before deciding to stick to lowbie areas.
If there was one thing they could have improved on this event (and other similar events), it's to prevent the high-level players from getting drops from the low level event mobs. The drop rates should be applied the same as regular mobs. This is one reason I spent so much time on TI during the event. High level players just don't frequent TI as much, because of the expense of getting there. A lot of the time I felt I had the entire island to myself.
I killed about 40 Event mobs in valley of saints. All Pink and bright red.
The most I got was thread.
On my 74 WS, I killed lots of mobs from dark blue (only by a little) to deep red. It was very rare to get any drops. After a while it got difficult to find people to help (with the deep reds), since the drops were not much better than hunting regular mobs.
There was very little incentive to participate in this event. My best drop was a brez, which I used after my unbuffed WS tried to solo an archangel (it was close).

Agreed, Im guilty of it myself.
To tempting to go everywhere when you can kill any event mob and get the loot no matter what lvl they are. Specially when only 1 or 2 mobs in the hole group drop anything. Was much easier AOEing the newby groups in 2 minutes than trying to fight 20 other people to the 1 mob at your lvl that dropped anything.

Well, that would be "great" considering the mobs that dropped stuff was often made lower level than the other things you need to fight.
MEATE! Dont try to put me out of business! Yes, I did some of my searching and killing with lower alts, but it was tedious doing it that way, so I stuck to using my main for event farming. The faster I could get a spawn dead the faster I could move on to the next.
Appropriate level spawn: The mobs should be yellow or pink to a player to whom the area in which they appear are levelling range (white to green). In party areas such as dungeons, dark red mobs might work well.
Appropriate level penalty: The mobs should not drop to players to whom they are lower than light blue, and only limited to those to whom they are green or light blue.
Appropriate level drop: A mob should drop scrolls appropriate for its level - B Grade seems big to me, but it's junk to a level 76! Stick with the same drop pattern as in the current drop tables, or make it so that mobs actually drop appropriately to their level.
