Player Questions Started Last reply 19 posts
Hi everyone I just got Lineage II.

I have some questions I hope you guys could help me with. I did search these forums and some fan site forums and got some answers, but I still have some questions.

My first set of questions has to do with the different servers. Are they all located in one place somewhere? The Bartz server seems appealing to me. I have the best ping to it and I have heard it has a lot of players. Are most of the players on Bartz West Coast US players? Are there any such servers? My expierence has been the highest pop servers in games without to many servers tend to be East Coast.

I have been playing WoW for about the past year. I know that game very well. I was hoping people could help me understand what the different classes are like in this game. If you are familair with WoW this can help me a lot. I think I want to be a Dark Elf Phantom Ranger. They sound fun to me. From what I have read though they seem to be the least popular and most gimped of the three archer classes. Is this true? In WoW I played a mage. I do not want to play a mage or anything like it in this game. I also don't really wanna play something like a high armor high damage character or a tanking character. I really do think I want to be a Phantom Ranger but I am also open to the possibility of being some kind of healer or maybe a prophet. Could someone please explain to me the differences between the healing classes for the races as I could not find much information on this. Also how fun are they and which ones are underplayed, gimped, or in demand.

One last thing. When I start up the game I get some message about enabeling AGP. Does anyone know what this is or how I should do it?

Any other newbie tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Oh and I have made a Dark Elf Fighter on Bartz right now named Specops.
PR is a high dmg archer. but has low con which is why most tend to advoid the class.

HE (hawkeye) has the best stats for fooling around with, and is geting some really good benifets in C5.

Your better off starting a prophet off first on a secound acc and two boxing if you want to make money and beable to lvl your PR (or w/e you choose) up faster, you mite have a hard time finding someone to help you out.

L2 is a hard game, the grind is very very grolwing.. much much worest then WoW, the currency is harder to get in L2, and the cost of gear is very high!

Thasts not to say you can't make money. but as a archer you will need to use a dagger from lvl 10- 52, if you want to save money. After 52 dich the dagger and get a Bow of pural.
Cause by the time you hit 52 that dagger will be worthless.

Lastly this is the worng forum to be posting in, and should be going into "player questions" for your knowledge.
Thanks for the info. Silly me I completely forgot about that player question forum.

Maybe a mod can move this if one sees it. I dont want to double post.

BTW is Con a stat that has to do with rate of fire? I think I understand the concept of PR: High damage shots slow rate of fire? Is this correct?

No. Con has nothing to do with Rate of Fire (I'm the 3rd archer type SR). Con = HP. Also, the more con you have, the more resilient you are to Stun (immensly important) and more Con means more weigt, so you can cary a lot more Arrows/SoulShots. Which very important to an archer. Anyone who is a Phanton Ranger, I envy their Damage Output, but compared to Hawkeye or even to Silver Rangers, you'll die faster out of the 3(Unless you, yourself Crit) then it's death for your oponents.
Welcome to L2! I played WoW and it's a very different game. I love L2 because I wanted a more challenging game.

There is some similarity between the Phantom Ranger and the Mage, both have high damage output and are somewhat fragile, though archers are less fragile than cloth wearers.

As far as healers go...

Dark Elves have one that has sought after buffs and very good heals. They are one of the most popular of the healers. They cast slower and regen mana slower then the others, but they have two buffs that everyone loves. Vampiric Rage which gives HP back for damage done (melee only) and Empower which increases the damage done by your spells if you are a caster.

Humans have a buffer (Prophet) with Haste and an array of other great buffs. However they do not get any new heals after their class change at 40 and so consequently are not a healer, but a pure buffer. They work best in parties with a healer. They have no group buffs, only singler target.

A second Human is the Bishop. They are the premier healer. They have the absolute best heals in the game and the resurrection that returns the highest percentage of XP. However they have only one buff after 40 so they are really pure healers.

Elves have Elven Elders and they cast fast, regen mana fast and have some interesting buffs. They have the second highest resurrection after the Bishop and at high levels, they have a group escape spell that is instant.

They are not a very popular class to play, though I love them and think they are really underused.

Orcs have two buffers, the Warcryer who has all the buffs the Human Prophet does, but group versions and not single target and the Overlord who does not have group buffs but rather buffs for your entire clan/alliance. Their buffs will not work on anyone that is not in their clan or alliance. They are great characters (very survivable in PvP) but difficult to play because few group members understand them.

Hope that answers your questions.

Well, warcryers get the most important ones (might, shield, haste, focus [cit rate] (get focus 3 very late), death whisper [crit power], magic barrier, Guidance [accuracy]. I think those are the ones they have in common with prophets). Additionally they get, agility [evasion], Chant of Revenge [reflect damage], vampiric rage [melee HP drain]. I think this is it untill 76+? I can't think of more.
Yeah, I forgot they do NOT get Bless the Body and Bless the Soul.
PR is a very good archer, as all archers are in this game. Each have flaws and advantages. PR has the highest potential damage with Hex, lowers pdef 30%, and they are almost as fast as SRs. HEs are slow but hit about as hard as a PR, and has very high CON and thus HP.

Getting a 2nd account for buffer might be a good idea if you like to solo, but not required, though it will help you progress through the levels ALOT faster.
Or specialty buffs like invigor, bless shield, mental shield, windwalk, resist fire/wind/aqua/poison, concentration - and zerk, which everyone loves :)

I must confess, though. I did look up prophet skills to make sure this list was accurate. :)

And to add to the list of warcryer buffs; acumen, which they share with prophet (faster spell casting).
One more thing... Come to Sieghardt. #2 server, not as crowded as Barts so you won't get locked out of the server, with lots of West coasters (and even East Coasters like myself).

Is your name indicitive of your profession?

sry EQ but I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you here. Bartz is where all the action is. Stay on bartz. Bartz is like nyc. If you can make it here... you can make it anywhere.

LOL ok, tell you what...

Navyseal, do a search in HiEverybody's posts, see what he is all about. Then do a search on my posts and see what I am all about. Whichever one of us you think plays more akin to your playstle... choose that server.

that's not a bad idea!

The 2 of us really do play the game differently...
Here's all you need to know about archers:

SR is the agile, fast archer - relies on run speed and evasion for defense and high rate of critical damage for offense. Least powerful of the archers offensively.

PR is the strong, fast archer. Relies on speed and evasion for defense and high strength for offense (instead of high critical rate). Glass Cannon style play.

HE is the slow, powerful archer. Has highest accuracy of the archers (opponents rarely evade), high critical rate (but not as high as the other 2) and high strength (not quite as high as PR, but higher than SR). High Hp. High carrying capacity. Poor evasion. Poor run speed.

Playstyle wise: SR is probably the most well-rounded. PR is lethal and fast, but very fragile. And Hawkeye is extremely lethal and very durable, but very slow.

It's important to know that BUFFS ARE EVERYTHING in this game. Playing any class without buffs is tedious. I recommend you play both an archer and a human prophet together, as that tends to be a combination that's very effective until very high level. Either 2-box, or play with a friend.

One last thing. When I start up the game I get some message about enabeling AGP. Does anyone know what this is or how I should do it?

This is mainly a PC configuration problem. I had it on my PC as well and i found that the problem was on the incorrect installation of the motherboard's drivers. The result was that when i was checking the graphics card's properties i could see that the card was recognized as a pci and not as an agp card.

So, open up the properties of your card and make sure your system sees it in agp mode. if not (which must be ur case) make sure first that the mobo's drivers are correctly installed and that your card is using the correct drivers (not essentially the most recent ones). Check the manufacturer's web site and maybe do some google search like for example %yourcardmodel% + AGP not activated to see if others have the same problems. The other thing u can also do is run the directX diagnostic tool. Run dxdiag from command prompt to see lots of information related to your graphics in general.

Hope this helps.
Thanks for all the help so far everyone.

EQ_Quaythescus, no Navyseal is not my profession. I just would use the name Navyseal/Specops a lot in games when I was younger and it just kind of stuck.

I wanted to also ask about other classes. I keep hearing a PR is fragile and does high damage. This sounds a lot like a mage. How does PR compare to mage classes in this game? Not as much damage done but better survivability I hope? Also what about all the other classes? I don't want to be a Dwarf because I don't want to sacrafice PvP and PvE for being an awesome crafter...not for my main character anyway. The other races I am open to but maybe not as much Human. I'm looking for a race/class thats really good at something but has some big weaknesses. I don't really enjoy the whole jack of all trades master of none thing which I think is what Human is all about. What is the gameplay like for the healer and buffing classes? I don't mind if its tedious, but is it boring? How about close range melee classes? Both the Rogue style and the high armor or tanking classes? Comparisions to fun factor and how hard a class is to play and how desirable they are would really be appreciated. Also knowing what class is strongest now and what is going to be nerfed would help to. I don't want to make an overplayed overpowered class that is only goona get nerfed a couple months down the road when Chronicle 5 is out and I have just reached like L40.

I don't want to be a Dwarf because I don't want to sacrafice PvP and PvE for being an awesome crafter...

Awesome Crafter? AWESOME? No, Dwarf suck at crafting. most things for B and higher grade has a 60% craft rate. If it failes, well, you just lost MILLIONS worth of adena on materials. Dwarfs craft well till C grade, after B, it's a very dangerious road to craft.

A spoiler dwarf (Bounty Hunter) sucks at spoiling as the "good" spoils are also very rare and few in between.
