I'm reasonably certain the individuals who told you that it was a bannable offense to seed a bot's target was full of crap. I seem to recall that, several months ago, there was even an official comment on this.
It makes sense, if you think about it.
1- You can seed anyone's monster to effectively steal from them, GM's don't get involved.
2- Nobody cares if you annoy bots.
Seems win-win.
Join their party and you're taking your chances at being caught in a blanket ban, though.
You can be banned if you are in a party that is using 3rd party programs (and if you weren't then you would have to prove to NC otehrwise.. I believe spam covered this) but I don't believe that you seeding their mobs is breaking the EULA just like you stealing their drops isn't breaking it.
I often use them as a sort of 'free spiritshot' on my baby casters. I wait till they attack once and have agro, then I hit it with a spell. I get the loot and most of the XP. :)
If you get banned from seeding bot-trains, the GM wasn't doing his/her job correctly, they have more than one way to find out if you're legit or not..
Yes...I get worried that my dwarf is going to be banned because I keep him right at level 40 so I can spoil varnish easily for a few hours every day to keep my income steady. So I look just like those bots getting killed by guards except my name is normal...so I usually sing songs while deleveling...hmm today was the kookabura song I do recall!
omg! i thought i was the only one that did this! i got greifed a bunch of times for not using SS on my scavy, so i made macros of songs so that people nearby would know i wasnt a bot. half of them were in chinese, not that it helped, but it made the whole process a lot more fun.
When I seed bot mobs, I always say hi to people who run past. Just so they know Im really there. That and I sometimes annoy the bots when I get bored by healing and buffing the mobs. Fun times :p
It's not an offense, but if the GM isn't paying proper attention, you risk getting banned anyway. It happened to an old clannie of mine :(
I know people are gonna think that he got banned for other reasons, but you will not find a guy more legit than him. You'll have to take my word for it, or don't.
He doesn't play anymore :( He didn't feel like leveling up another char.
In game GMs always do their job correctly. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't have faith in them. I mean our server is bot and cheat/**** free. Every player is legit. Our server is played the way the game was suppose to be played.............
Anyways, arguing that someone was legit when they were banned, is a moot point. Even if you know the guy IRL, chances are he would lie about it, so you wouldn't think anything less of him.
In my book, if you get banned, you did something bad. There are always exceptions to the rule though. I've talked to people that have been unbanned, if you have a good case that is ;)
I've been seeding off of our "automated friends," for quite some time now, I try to find a group that has fast killspeed and its really really good cash.

My prophet makes very pretty trains before return 2...and Luke is great at picking up drops...on a strider...and running from the mobs :p
I report as I go through. Ill report a group and seed with them till I get a response from GMs.. then move on to next group. Sometimes the bots change, othertimes they dont. I dunno if I have NC to thank for that or not. But vent's right... it doesnt take much time to report them.
You may seed what ever you please. GMs do not close accounts for using game systems as intended.
If the mobs you are seeding belong to someone else... that is between you and them. I guess if they did not want you seeding their mobs they would ask you to stop... right?
