I just started an Orc Mystic and am only lvl 2, but it seems they use magic to enhance melee? Are they casters or melee classes with enhance magic? Just wondering, thanks

YES!

They are both. Apparently they are very hard to level in the lower lvls but become quite formidable at higher lvls.

Think of them as warrior mages of sorts.
you can two hit a mob at your lvl (white) with sleep and chill..or club them with top ng weapon.
I've played a few melees and though just a little bit weak...the mystics hit pretty good!
My little orcy has unenchanted demon fangs and so far in abandoned camp even kills the commanders (red) pretty quickly....i think he hits as well at 21 with that weapon (arguable higher patk) than my knight did in ac at 25 with a bastard sword.
Reasonable little melle guy imo.
ty for info, yea, i met a couple people who told me in-game about the same thing. They said i need to wear warrior armor and use a blunt and shield till 20, over using a mystics robes and mystic weapons. Does that seem about right? They were very helpful and friendly btw
you craft your shaman into whatever type your going to go for at 40.

warcryer is a good nuker, buffer and group healer
overlord is a good nuker, clan and alliance buffer and also very good as a close range fighter.

so i would say for a warcryer set him up with robes and a Matk weapon

overlord set him up in robes and melee weapons and if you have the money a Matk weapon aswell (i would say heavy armour but his buffs will more than make up for the defence lost)
I went mage with my orc mystic (1-20). I think that's more fun. The first spell I trained was the life drain. I'd drain all mobs once and beat them down the rest of the way with my club, I got from a quest (you will have dowtime doing it this way). Second spell I trained was frost flame (? - I can never remember the real name. "Something" flame). By then I had a better weapon; willow staff. I frost flame the mobs, let them come to me, and melee them without SS. No downtime using this method. (I have the Butcher sword from another quest, which I use when the mobs come close). I'm using robes on my mystic. I can't remember the name, but they're green. The best is Devotion Set (with leather helmet).
im going for overlord as i think it will compliment my gladi perfectly.

and maybe if some how i can get my overlord to the same lvl as my gladi i might make my overlord my main :D
No orc mystic can efficiently nuke in PvE - heavy armour and a heavy-hitting DD weapon are the way to go both for warcriers and overlords unless you're in it exclusively for the fun.

The leech is simply too MP-intensive to be wasted on not restoring your health.

As far as NCKr is concerned...Orc Mystics are 'Healers'. This is shown by their limits on tattoos.

In practice Orc Mystics are more of a 'offensive healer' than anything else. Our heal isn't all that fast or great and they take tons of MP so were not really a good healer. (In that LFx sense.) And our DoT skills and Seals don't benefit (Beyond landing %) from BSPS so we're not even close to nuker status. Our Drain is that strong...but you can't level with it like a nuker does with their main skills. (Incoming MP usage nerf on it in C5...pray it gets removed like the Tyrant Totem changes.) And finally we have some half-way stats so we aren't that uber at melee either. Out Toggles can boost us up to that level of say, a dwarf or so, but they consume tons of MP so you cant do it long.

Most players do one of two things drain+melee or DoT+Melee.

Both can do the drain+melee thing about the same, when it comes to DoT+melee it kinda splits. WC is solo and OL is AOE when it comes to DoT. (Both use tons of MP though.)

So that old saying comes to mind. "Jack of all Trades, Master of None.)
we will see i have already found that my shaman is more powerful than my gladi was at his lvl.

at my current stage no other class at my lvl scares me as a shaman. on the other hand as my human knight and warrior i was scared of rangers and nukers.

any class i just sleep DOT drain them and finish off with melee.
I haven't been playing long but I have a lvl 16 DE fighter and a lvl 22 DE mystic along with a lvl 12 LE mystic and I love my lvl 13 Orc mystic. I just melee until my life gets half way down then I lead off my next kill with life drain this fills my life up and I continue to melee. This works well I don't drain my MP and I keep my HP up as well..This has got to be my favorite character. Not to mention they look awesome..
I have a level 59 Warcryer. I went heavy armour all the way. I used a blunt and shield until 40, then moved to duals.

By far the best fun I have had :)
Since u went heavy armor all the way I need to ask did it slow your casting down that much?
I love this character and I am going to stick with it and make it my main so I was wondering the differences of robes and heavy armor.
we get a buff that increase are casting speed at lvl 30
It does slow down a fair bit, but it's not too bad.
im useing heavy armour still and with chant of flame its still decent.
Yeah, it's slower in heavy, but not all that noticable.

With acumen 3 (which you get) and bsps, attack spells cast fine. And as for buffing, even in heavy armor, it's still pretty instantaneous. Especially if your first buff is acumen.
