I was waiting for the subway the other day and was watching the C5 CG trailer. (they play commercials on small projection screens in various places here). I noticed at the end amidst the credits and multiple black screens in large letters non-pvp.
I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of setup these servers have. At first I thought they simply removed the control feature on these servers so you cant attack other players. But then I got to wondering what they do with castles and clan halls? Do they only utilize the pvp zones and everything else becomes peace zone? Or shutout pvp all together?
Any one got any info? Speculation is welcome of course
I'm not at a computer form which I can check, but maybe you are. When logging in, check if you can see a link about "server concepts," which should also contain an explanation of the non-PVP server if my hazy memory is correct... but it might very well not be.
My best guess is that non-PvP means "fully consenting PvP", aka no ganking in the open field. In all honesty, I can't imagine such a server working out - even as what I consider an utter carebear, I love my right to fight back when some jerk decides it's time to train me or start KSing my room.
im not near my machine either, so i can't check the server types, but from what i remember its didn't say all the rules.
I believe such a server would work out in Korea (and likely is) since they are at least partially advertising for it along with C5. I didn't see any mention of a non-pvp server when they were advertising C4 on T.V.
Actually, it would be easy to make mobs "untrainable". All they would have to do is make them react like the aggro mobs in EQ2.
They aggro, the quarry "fakes death" or dies or runs away, and the mobs' aggro becomes inert and they go back to where they were (or just stand there for a minute until it resets.)
It's a bit silly but I can imagine that it might be done that way.
It already is. Aggro doesn't jump over unless the mob is social or special magic is used.
Which is what is sooo cool about the dungeons in this game. They're all social to something.. you'd have to make it so that the mobs in one room of a certain type aren't social to the mobs in another room of the same type.
actually talking to a few people that said they've played on the korean non-pvp servers say it's quite "formal"..
most people even trying to train, die as the way the mobs are setup, they have made it so training is either nearly impossible to **** hard to survive. Only place fake death has, is to avoide actually dieing, it won't suddenly transfer over. Or so i've been told.
And one person actually said that there are some people that'll come over from other servers just to try to train and fail doing it because of the changes made.
Which brings me to the next point, a non-pvp server would seriously produce some very very heated battles, because everyone would be geared and drooling over waiting for a seige or some event that introduces major pvping.
