AOE Attacks

Does anyone have a list or knows a list of which attacks are aoe attacks for nukers? The website skills description is confusing 90% of the time you can't tell if it's aoe or not :p, and since I never played a nuker (wasnt my style), I don't really know much about em. The farthest I ever got a nuker was 25 before I quit :D.

I am particularly interested in sorc/sps. For example in the skills area it says Blazing Circle "Sends out a ring of flames around oneself. Power 30." Does that affect one or more mobs around oneself... And Prominence "Gathers the air surrounding the caster to create a giant fireball attack. Power 49.". Again one or more mobs?

Now for the spellsinger we have Frost Bolt "Freezing attack that reduces enemy's Speed. Effect 2. Power 31.". Enemies power? plural? Or only one enemy.

I know Aqua Splash is AOE cause it says "Powerful wave attack, useful against multiple enemies. Power 41.". But the rest your not sure until you try, and I dont wanna get to 40+ and find out its not aoe, and reroll for like the 17th time.
At the risk of getting this thread locked/deleted

BUMP :D.

Common wheres all the nukers when you need em. Or are they only here when theres rumors about nuker nerfs?
aoe attacks for sorc = blazing circle and rain of fire?
and for sps (sucky class, asking for flames but :P) frost wall and aqua splash :) and ofcourse for both sleepcloud

edit: on small note, blazing circle/frost wall = close range while the other 2 aint and sorc also got low lvl poison cloud...
Lol thank you for your answer.

And [censored] I wanted an sps more than a sorc...

Yes I heard about all the trash talk about em, but they're still cool :p.

For example in the skills area it says Blazing Circle "Sends out a ring of flames around oneself. Power 30." Does that affect one or more mobs around oneself...

This is a PBAoE power--a point-blank area of effect. Everything within a fair distance of the sorcerer gets burned.

It's pretty.

Prominence "Gathers the air surrounding the caster to create a giant fireball attack. Power 49.". Again one or more mobs?

Single target.

...and yes, Rain of Fire is also an AoE attack. When in doubt, the easiest thing to do is look at the Power and MP usage. Decreased power and increased MP usage is a hint that it can affect multiple foes.

Ty. This makes a lot of sense, and I didn't even think about that. On a side note it's still 3:20, and I got 1.5 hours to think.....

Would you go sps or sorc?

Would you go sps or sorc?

I'd rather throw fireballs than question my character's preferences, if you know what I mean
Fine fine...

Rephrasing... :D

What would you say it's wrong (throw fireballs) with an sps, and what would you consider wrong with a sorc...?

**** that doesn't make a lot of sense but it helps.

Example: Sps sucks because _____________. Sorc is better because ___________. or Sps is better because ___________. Sorc sucks because ____________.
Sps will cast faster than sorc, however sorc is more capable of doing AoE damage.
A spellsinger will cast slightly faster than a sorcerer.
A sorcerer will hit slightly harder with his spells than a spellsinger.

A spellsinger has an overhit nuke and more variety in his damage types.
A sorcerer eventually has two area-effect attacks.

A spellsinger runs faster than a sorcerer.
A sorcerer has more hit points than a spellsinger.

A spellsinger knows which shoes are fab with that outfit.
A sorcerer once killed a man...just to watch him die.
Arcane AoEs
Aqua Splash (Spellsinger), Hydro Screw (Elemental Summoner), Rain of Fire (Sorcerer), Tempest (Spellhowler): Throws an AoE projectile which explodes upon impact with the target to deal splash damage. Half the power of a single target nuke, relatively narrow radius.

Blazing Circle (Sorcerer): A "PBAoE" (point blank AoE spell). It is centered on you and does not require a target. The best power rating of any AoE nuke in the game (other than C5 corpse burst).

Corpse Burst (Necromancer, Phantom Summoner): Triggers a circular AoE from a corpse. Getting bumped up to considerably higher damage in C5 because it wasn't that useful.

Frost Wall (Spellsinger): Raises a wall of water to your front, front left and front right (in a triangle in front of you). All enemies close to you will get hurt. The second best power rating, right after blazing circle.

It's argueable whether the spellsinger's fast casting and marginally better positioning or the sorcerer's slightly greater power but slower cast speed are preferable in AoE - in the end, both of them can two-hit half HP mobs with a chain of their primary and secondary AoE spells.

PS: Just for those taken in by bekkar's talk: humans, too, have style (http://www.ivory-tower.de/images/human_mage/male/s/robe_arcana.jpg).

Ooo, you're right. Although I still prefer the Sorc nukes, there is not a numerical advantage.
I won't edit my post, since this came after, but nix the "two AoE's" thing, heh.

Edit: Oh, and it's not whether or not they have style, it's just that Spellsingers talk about shoes and outfits constantly...while listening to Cher...
Look at that, I got it right but wrong. There is a power difference, but it favours spellsingers, and noticably so. Frost wall at level 58 has a power of 57 to the power of 41 of the standard AoE nuke and 48 for blazing circle.

You're being horribly prejudiced against us elves, you know? We can talk about things other than clothes and ear-protection-safety-measure-shoulder-pads too. It's ever-so-important to know what style of hair is en vogue at any given moment.
It doesn't matter who torched the village if he didn't look good doing it.
He did look good. That's what the circles of fire emanating from his torso were for. Get with the program.

His shoes, on the other hand... well... you'd have to ask an elf about that, which is a shame because they've all been burned to a very fine, yet fairly fab, ash.

Thank you :D. Much appreciated.
Yes, for aoe I would definately go light elf. Stronger (power) skills + faster cast (very noticably). Sorc a close second.

For other utilities:
PvP: Sps wins again with it's superior speed
Other PvE: I think Sorc is slightly ahead due to his lvl 1 B2M, but considering the sps gets Light Flare - a second nuke with 120% power rating + overhit effect and the number of mobs with holy weakness, very slight advantage.
Really the sorc feels like a watered down version of the sps. Plus human mystics look like nerds in pajamas.
