Heavy / light armor for melee classes

Just curious: I've only played casters so far, and I know that heavier armors cause slower casting speeds and decreased MP regen, which can be improved through masteries. But what disadvantages do melee classes face when choosing heavy armor over light?
They don't receive the evasion bonus that their light armour mastery (if they have any) grants them - in short, they're actually fully unpenalised.
heavy armor has more p def. some light armor adds to m def. for seiges, a cheap armor setup would be to use doom heavy until you run across a mage, then equip drake leather to take out the mage and switch back to doom. choose armor based on what it does, instead of just light/heavy.
If I had enough money to switch between Doom heavy and Drake light whenever I pleased, I probably wouldn't be asking this question. ;)

Anyway, I've heard that there are some changes that will separate heavy and light armors by a greater margin in C5. Does anyone know what those changes are or where I can find them described? I'm saving up for some armor for my upcoming BD, and I'd like to know what, exactly, I should be saving for. I'm looking at BW heavy right now, and I'm fairly confident about that. Any reason I shouldn't?
you can get the boots/gloves for both for free i think from the reagents quest, which might be easy for you do do with your main (quest mobs in blazing swamp and TOI) so that leaves...one helmet and two central armors. talk to wesley in ivory tower.
Nah, my "main" isn't really my main. He's a 53 SE who's been playing the market for 8 and a half billion years to get enough money for my real main, at which point in time he will become my second box. :D Anyway, he can't kill anything, ever.

I might end up doing that when I get my BD high enough, but for now I'm limited to things that I can buy, and hopefully cheaply at that. Besides, I'm looking to do mostly PvE, so I'm not so concerned about decking myself out for PvP.
