A question about Orc Shamen...

I have just joined Lineage 2, and am absolutely loving it. I have tried around some characters and think I have found a home with my Orc Mystic, which is now level 12.

I was hoping to get some answers to a couple of questions I had about them, though, before I have gone too far into the class.

First off, just an opinion-based quesiton... in your experience, what is the role of shamen in PvP (war crier or overlord) and how do they stand against others in PvP as well... I understand that they are primarily support, but that Dreaming Spirit / DoT combo just seems absolutely killer.

And my main question... I see that Shamen are capable of wearing all three types of armor... I understand that robes give alot of energy at cost of defense, whereas heavy armor is opposite... but how does light armor stand? Does it give a smaller amount of energy than robes, and less defense than heavy, or is it JUST less defense than heavy? I wonder this, because I saw Shamen in light armor and absolutely love how that looks, but it seems off-hand like they are forfeiting both energy and defense... what do you gain from light armor?

Also, along those same lines... I see that if you put SP's into light or heavy armor, the attack speed / casting speed / MP recovery increases, whereas putting points into robes JUST increases P. Def... with that in mind, would I be right in assuming that at some point, if you just focus on Light or Heavy, you would end up with higher attack speed / casting speed and recovery than if you focused on Robes? Or do you have to max out your light / heavy armor for it to catch up with what robes start out with?

Thanks!

OverLords and WarCryers are pretty good at PvP. We are not the best, but can certainly hold their own against any other class. Depends on the player, but there is no other class out there that will automatically OWN you at anything.

In group warfare, there are very few as deadly. The mass heals some of the other magies get is the bomb, but our group debuffs and some of our group buffs are the real tide turners.
As an OL, you can mass silence, mass root, mass posion, mass debuff a whole lot of people. I have also seen WC in battle and they are nothing to ignore either.

As for armor, it basically levels out. You get one special passive that allows some nice thing in robes, but your passives in light and heavy offset this somewhat. What is nice about this class is you can setup you toon any way you want to play it. If you want to tank and just use a bit of magic, go heavy. If you want a bit more magic and some speed, light, and if you feel like using magic for buffs and killing, robes work great.
We are naturally slow in our casts and you will find that other magic users tend to be faster, so a few shamans go for things to make casting faster. Some go for health so they can take more of a beating.

Bottom line, you can play these two alot of different ways. If you get into a good clan, you can also work with your oposite to help each other by playing a different style.

Last note, if you go OverLord, you have to be in a clan/alliance. No other way to really level in the mid to end game. WarCryer on the other hand is a party toon. Good in any party, anywhere.

Have fun.
we ge the new armour textures for b and a grade which rocks!(say if you need info for other sites we get new NM maj DC BW doom and they look amazing)

ive got all my armour and weapons up until a grade but at a grade im going for NM heavy with acumen branch of the mothertree at that time i should also have the lvl 3 acumen spell .
Here are comparasing of 3 armor types after you learned skills for them. The skills for robes are automaticaly learned at lvl 1. The light and heavy skills are learned at lvl 1 light or heavy mastery, ,all next lvls only add to pdef.
Robes have highest cast speed, mana boost, highest mana regeneration, low defence.
Light gives little less cast speed, same mana regeneration, and higher defence then robes.
Heavy gives lowest cast speed, lowest mana regeneration and highest defence.
Also, ,different armor sets later on will give different bonuces. Robes have mage oriented bonuces such ascasting speed, magical attack, more mana boosts, some phisical defence. Light most give most light armors give bonuces to mele damage utput (atack, atack speed, critical hits rate) and to evasion, some armor sets also add defence too. Heavy add defence, health, shield block rates and some also add to mele damage output.

My WC mostly wears heavy armor with damage boost and a fighter wearpon for PVE. This allows her to work good in most set ups. Ether that's solo or large parties. Only type of large parties I'm in are clan/ally parties and we always have more then 1 suport toon. Then I do buffs I have same power on as healer and those which only I have, then I mele and have soul cry up good portion of the time.
I also got a set of robes adding to cast speed, mana pool and mana regeneration, but those are mostly for siege situations. As you guessed the main role of WC at pvp is support, and what is important to buffers is their ability to buff others, so you need to have as much mana as pocible, while in many situations defence is not as important since you are in back lines of combat. It can be a bit different for owerlords, I can't say here, since i never played one.
