Servers transfers - can we have an update?

I remember many threads about a year ago asking when character transfers would become available and the answer was always that the devs were working on it and it would happen in the future. What is the status now?

Well, it seems the subject has died. No word of it and those who fought for it are now lying in a bloody heap outside the walls after throwing themselves against them time and time again.

The only people who said it would happen were people who wanted it, not NCSoft. They said NO.

Personally, this is good news to me. I don't want all the riff-raff losers from other servers coming to my sweet home.

Actually, that is not exactly true.

There were several threads (including a newsletter if I remember correctly) where the gm's mentioned that it would happen but there was no time frame set and that there were some "issues".

This was a long time ago.

And who said you'd be getting riff-raff? Maybe you would be getting some high quality players trying to escape the "riff-raff".

Of course, one person's "Riff-Raff" is another person's savior.

Lets just hope hindemith dont get any of those erica players. :p

see, sovrath remembers the post that went on for at least 6 months :) ash kept promising us server transfers in the future. I can't find the post because it was either deleted or made before there was a forum wipe, but ncsoft at one point had promised us server transfers

I've already made the reroll to an othe server, and am selling off all of my gear. so if I caould sya Xfer all of my money to my new server from my old that would rock.

But adding in buying game cerency from NPC's, that would just make the prices of stuff go up.

PS: there is no such thing as free market in L2. Never was.

Hrm awhile back there was an interesting post about being able to port from one server to another. I thought it was a hoax. Anyone remember what became of it?

So i can understand this only that they plan to run new server and ppl can transfer there .....

I think Thorn meant Inter-Server wars or assassinations.

Maybe they going to do a No PK sever
10x XP sever etc, okay for some but if you can't transfer to the server you want it means a reroll or stay on a server you didn't sign up for :(

Server transfers ... a great way for bots/farmers to move around and kill more raid bosses, sounds great

Maybe if they implement this the bots/farmers will kill each other

Oh I don't like the idea of server transfers. But I would love to have my glad from TEON he would definatley come out of retirement if this happened.

I guess they must have server transfer available as they would have had to use something very similary when they ran that tournament a few months back, and transferred characters onto that.

I guess that they are not going to use it though as it would just cause too many complaints.

Just say no to server transfers.

It would do nothing but dork up the game as huge alliances hop from one server to the next just to be [censored].

Let's see, transfering to an empty server where there are no duplicate names, duplicate clans, clan hall transfers, alliances, castle owners, etc. etc...

Would that be the same "soon" as the one in the newsletter that first stated that they were working on server transfers. That was two whole years ago so I guess I'll take your "soon" with a massive pinch of salt.

Besides which, I can't really think of anything that you guys have actually delivered. Maybe you could remind me of some.

I think that the first problem now is the use of 3 party program.
Start "Relax Servers" can solve a little this problem in the firsts servers.

What if you're the clan leader?

Then you lose the clan, just like if you wanted to switch clans or do other things (which heck C5 is going to force alot of people to do)

hey if NC Soft would give us the option I would take it as that
would make the game more intresting to keep playing and logging
into such server would be voluntary so don't play on it if you don't
want to..

anyway this is just speculation as we won't know for sure what
Mistryl was hinting at untill NC Soft is willing to share it fully with
us so patience ^^

Nobody would force you to join it. Others quite obviously liked the idea, hence the PTS's you quoted. ;)

Personally, I think they'll all be moved to Korea and support will go to India (or maybe China as India is getting a bit more expensive these days) as NCSoft shut down their NA operation. But hey, that's just my opinion and not a conspiracy theory or any other shenanigans. :p

Lately I wondered.... If castle owners could really choose their siege times and seed reset times, every server would be a global server and no one would need to xfer his 70+ to Teon or from it.

Also bots would have more trouble programming seed buy back times and real players could enjoy the manor for the first time since C2.

See ? It wasn't a bump after all.

But still NC please keep your past promises and learn SQL to make xfers happen.
