suspicious tag

the clan tag on the jaradine NPC on dev is the same as it has been since the beginning of C4. thus the clan tags do not change automatically and they are not random or player-based in any way.

What's your point?

Some servers has them and others dont. The ones that do they are different. Isnt each server suppose to be the same?

no each server has a different tag over that NPC, far as i know each server has some sort of tag. what i mean is that some GM intervention must have put the tag there, since the tag does not change "by itself".
ETA: i was wrong, the jaradine on gustin does not have a tag at all.

its funny cause, I just saw it ealier today and didn't know anything about it, read the net and its there. So has it been there or is it new

since kain is an older server not a lot of people reroll to it, or reroll an elf on it. the tag could have easily been there a week without any real player even being in elf town; though people only seemed to notice it today.

I'm a bit lost here....

I noticed the tag about a month and a half ago. I was like, WTH? Lucky LEs always get to go to LE town when they are done lvling in the necros by DE village....rofl...

Actually that clan tag has been there for a very long time, it showed up in C3 I think, it started with the manor system.

I just always thought of it as a little odd is all.

aren't the servers secure, how do you get a bug on something that is controlled by NC soft? unless someone intentionally put it there.

I think it is a good question. How does a bug take a picture like that, reduce it to clan tag size and upload it.

Well there's that too, I was thinking maybe the bug was 1) npc with a clan tag and 2) it randomly pulls an existing clans tag.

But saying because a company owns and controls the sw doesn't mean it's bug free. see also: Microsoft.

Nope I don't know a thing about software "bugs" I can't believe that this is random, it's way to obvious for that, and considering it's NA #1 hated enemy seems all too suspicious

for your own clan sure, what player in the history of L2 has been able to set another clans tag? or chage anything on a NPC? never is my guess. I think calling it a bug is a copout

Yes, we know. Mistryl has already addressed the issue in the GD thread regarding this. Obviously, it is an unintentional bug that the NPC is drawing random clan tags.

So does the NPC just randomly grab any tag in your database, does it change tags every hour or so, what about it being there for months per some. I guess Mistryl has already addressed the problem huh? GG

Actually the program doing something that it's not supposed to do, by definition, is USUALLY a bug.

I don't see what the big deal is all about. I'm a US citizen and i'm not the least bit offended by the picture. Next thing you know people will start asking for reparations for their hurt feelings. There are people that are offended by any trivial conflict of opinion. I think this issue is being blown out of proportion.
