You need to cast some good magic on yourself with this SA to have a chance to get Mental Shield buff. The same about BtB, dunno about Magic Barrier (never seen that SA).
crystals staff has btb2, ghoul staff has btb as well.
SoES has btb5 [btw there is a typo on the SA description]

as for being dwarf i am quite positive Bandage would do the trick. you must have the required grade mastery to trigger the effect.

And are you a dwarf? Then you are screwed again.
I think it needs to be targetetabl in order for it to work. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that a DE fighter's shield skill doesn't count, so only mages can use the staffs.

I haven't tried it recently, but I seem to recall that fighter class self-buffs DO trigger the weapon SA. I'll test it out again when I get home tonight and confirm.
basically i want to buff Bless body and magic barrior (the one that reduces magic damage)

Magic Shield and Magic Mental Shield I believe are one and the same thing. They do not reduce magic damage, but they do help prevent being held, paralyzed, slept, etc., somewhat. They also guard against spellcast interruption.
what would be the best C grade weapons for those SA's and do i have to mamon for them?
My SE uses the Stick of Eternity for Bless the Body level 3. Yes, go through BS Mammon after you buy any 1720 C-crystal weapon from the Luxury Shop in Giran. If you are at B grade, go with the SOES, since it has BTB level 5.
Be aware of your overall carry weight. If you are like me and like to load up on shots, having an extra weapon in your inventory can be a pain. Also, keep in mind that you can drop any unequipped weapon in your inventory upon death. Keep a Blessed SOE handy.

checking stratics i see stick of faith has magic shield SA, am i to assume that is the same sa as mental shield and magic mental shield?
think i know what weapon to get for BB since spending 20+ mil on a soes is overkill for one buff
and yes even dwarfs can self buff useing sa's

Since your dwarf is high enough I dont expect that she'd have some grade penalties, so it's not a direct reply. However it was a misunderstood and back in time there was a topic about buff sticks not working when you suffer grade penalty.
Buff effect differs starting from 2 to 5 for btb, C grade tops at 4 w/ ghoul staff. Stick of failt is mental shield effect 2 (which doesnt really help against sleep). As for SoES - it's one of the cheapest top B weapon w/ both heads and recipe being spoilable. Depending on the server and material costs it might be close to the price of ghoul staff.

yeah i remeber the days when you could get 1 for 13 mil.... ahh the good ol days ;)
EDIT: i noticed ghouls staff needs a lvl 8 crystal, that would mean its higher than a homu. so no crystal shopping one?

Last night I decided to even exchange the Stick of Eternity to a Sage Staff and then upgrade to a Ghoul through BS Mammon. Just needed a little over 2M AA to do that. It was much cheaper than buying a ghoul at market prices or even at craft prices.
I had to use different toons, but I was able to level the Stage 8 Blue Crystal in roughly an hour or so. No broken crystal this time. BTB 4 is a nice addition to the regular SE buffs. I only wish weapon SA's included a "bless the soul" type of SA.
