Question about Subclassing

I'm still a distance away from this but can't find the info anywhere.
When you subclass you become lvl 40 of that class.
Do you get the base stats of that race or keep yours?
Do you have to buy all the skills or are all skills up to lvl 40 already learned?

You keep your characters looks, you get the different class fully skilled up for lvl 40 skills. Saves a bit on finding spellbooks. Keep yer c grade!!!

A good thing to know on the side is that you may change your subclass if you don't like it, for as long as you don't mind starting back at 40.
