Ive just check the competition status, on all servers Lords of dawn are winning. The problem is now who wins, the problem is the army of Dusk has no members. Where is the competition?!
Those Mammon's guys are way too important for sameone to risk not be able to get to them.
I think 7 signd needs a huge revamp, transform it into a huge quest or something.
And, yeah, tha way that 7 signs work now its a failure.
At its conception 7 Signs seemed to work pretty well. On at least some servers Dusk and Dawn exchanged wins for a while.
The main problem is the lack of incentive for competing against the winning side. Since Dawn has a stranglehold on the competition anyone who joins Dusk is pretty much guaranteed to lose all the AA they worked for, in addition to getting the negative effects from losing the seals.
In theory Dusk could still pull a win off by dominating the Festival of Darkness, with the work of skilled organized Clans that are not castle owners. As it stands though, it's just easier to join the Dawn side and keep getting the constant and reliable rewards.
Something really needs to be done to boost the morale of the losing side. For example double AA rewards could be offered for that period when the losing side wrests control from the winning side.
Castle owners and the Clans that support them still need to fight for Dawn in order to maintain the seal bonuses, while all the independents could jump on the side offering double AA thus creating some competition in the competition.
Just a suggestion, but as it stands right now 7 Signs is not working at all as intended in our version of L2.
And what 7 Signs currently lacks is motivation for the losing side. It's not an easy thing to motivate a server getting thrashed by one side to put aside their AA for a period in order to risk going up against impossible odds.
Even if everyone works very hard and manages to pull off a Dusk win, they don't get anything extra out of it rather than the satisfaction that they delayed Dawn from getting AA for a few weeks and gained temporary control over a seal or two.
The competition was made so that it was easier to win castles. The problem is, it is so much more important to get access to the mammons than it is to debuff castle owners. Not to mention that, if the biggest allies are castle owners, who the hell is left to fight?

These kinds of threads, as a WAY newbie, totally confuse me. What are we talking about? lol who is Dusk and Dawn? These are the castle sieges you're referrning to? And what is the 7 signs quest thing? I know that I keep seeing the message pop u "the 7 signs quest has begun" but i have no clue what's going on.
7 Signs is an event that occurs every 2 weeks (I think, I haven't participated lately so my memory might be a bit hazy). I believe you have to be level 20 to participate. In order to do so you talk to either the Dusk or Dawn priestesses located in most towns. Dusk and Dawn refer to the two sides of the competition, with Dawn being castle holders and their allies and Dusk being everyone else. It's possible to join Dawn temporarily with a 50k adena donation each event period.
It consists of two parts, one is farming Seal Stones from the Catacomb and Necropolis dungeons throughout Aden. The other is taking part in the Festival of Darkness, which is a party vs. monster battle, the team with the most points of all competitors wins the event for their side. The Festival of Darkness is arranged into several level categories so that all players past level 20 can compete.
At the end of the event the score is determined by which side turned in the most seal stones and won the most festivals.
The winners obtain Ancient Adena relative to the amount of seal stones they turned in during the event. Festival of Darkness winners also receive some kind of reward, but I've never participated and don't really know what it is. For the losers, AA they earned is stored by the priestesses until their side finally wins. You can switch sides every event period, but you can't collect AA from a side unless it wins during that period.
AA is used to buy more powerful versions of things like haste and alacrity potions, as well as dyes and enchant equipment scrolls. You can also use it to upgrade current weapons into higher level versions directly, or exchange two different classes of weapons of the same quality.
Collecting seal stones is something that any player can do and can be highly rewarding if you're on the winning side. It's usually a good idea to go along with a party if you plan on going into those dungeons however.
7Signs is a server-wide quest.
Goal is to get (by joining a specific seal) access to Catas (+ Blacksmith of Mammon) , Necros (Merchant of Mammon) and maybe advantage in the sieges. (3rd seal)
Its a two weeks based quest.
1st week fight for ur side in the festivals or/and contribute sealstone.
2nd week winner with the most points gets exclusive access to the Catas/Necros etc...
Castle Owner are forced to join Dawn.
For the rest it more or less free to choose.
I think i understand a little better, thank you. :) It's when everyone starts talking in abreviated words that it gets confusing and I can't figure out what everyone is talking about. lol
Another reason its broken is because you need a stacked nuker team to pull off any kind of decent score. No point for melees to participate in this competition what-so ever.
Even if everyone works very hard and manages to pull off a Dusk win, they don't get anything extra out of it rather than the satisfaction that they delayed Dawn from getting AA for a few weeks and gained temporary control over a seal or two.
Not only, they also delayed their enemies (with the efort needed to win Dusk, I can say that it's competition between major aliances) from getting to Lilith/Anakim for that week. And That's one of the RB who give stage 11-12 crystals. And how much will that total up after a week? Well here is your's motivation right there..
I think that on Lionna one of the sides will ninja Dawn in a few weeks =)
And, yeah, tha way that 7 signs work now its a failure.
You almost got it right. "Competition in L2 is a huge failure", is the correct statement.
My main is a WS. There is no point in participating in the festival (or raid/pvp) with my class. Since NCSoft has an "only nukers need apply" policy, a large portion of the server population is left out.
As a crafter, in a neutral clan (no sieges), my priorities are access to Mammon's trader/BS and keeping the taxes low. I have 2-4 characters sign up for Dawn, and none of them vote for the seal of strife.
That's right, if you side with Dawn, you can keep them from getting Strife, and keep the taxes lower. So who is winning the competition. The players are winning on every server where Dawn does not have the Seal of strife. The 50k signup fee for the 40+ player is a pittance compared to the benefits.
First, I would make it so that you permantly sign up for either the Champions of Dawn or the Lords of Dusk after your 2 class transfer. Upon signing up, your name will turn Gold indicating Dawn membership or your name will turn Gray indicating Dusk. You will be given three new skills for your participation that can only be used during competition week:
Champions of Dawn:
1. Guardian Angel - Once CP is gone it halves all attacks on HP. during PvP
2. Divine Retribution - Increases Matk, Patk, and Run speed. Lowers Evasion, Mdef, and Pdef.
3. Flashfire - Boosts attacks by adding holy attribute. Affects undead and Dusk members.
Lords of Dusk:
1 Demon Thirst - Drains CP from other players and adds it to HP.
2. Dark Revenge - Increases Matk, Patk, and Run speed. Lowers Evasion, Mdef, and Pdef.
3. Miasma - Boosts attacks by adding dark attribute. Affects divine creatures and Dawn members.
The patron of the Dawn would be Anakim, the patron of Dusk would be Lilith. Anakim and Lilith would be moved to the highest level Catacomb and Necropolis respectively.
Dawn members would have complete free access to the Catacombs (meaning monsters are not agro). Dusk members would have free access to the Necropolises. Dawn members would have to obtain Articles of Blessings from killing the creatures in the Necropolises, Dusk members would have to obtain Offerings of Sacrifice from the Catacombs. Either side can kill the monsters in their own dungeon for XP and SP, but no competition drops will be given.
The Articles of Blessing and Offerings of Sacrifice would be turned into Dawn and Dusk priests to strengthen the Sign Strength of each factions patron. This would effectively make either Lilith or Anakim very difficult to kill depending on how many turned in the blessings.
Ancient Adena will be given out for each article and offering turned in to their patron to be used at the Blacksmith and Merchant of Mammon who both will appear randomly in both Catacombs or Necropolises during competition periods. Locations of the Merchant and Blacksmith can be learned from the Priests for a considerable sum of AA.
Seal stones will be dropped from all monsters in either catacomb and necropolis. They will be used to complete a Seal Key that can be used to break a specific seal. Blue Seal stones will be used to create a Seal of Avarice key, Red Seal stones will create a Seal of Gnosis key, and Green Seal stones will create a Seal of Strife key. Each faction can create their own keys, but only the winning faction can use their key to attempt to open the Seals.
A factions patron has to have a certain amount of Sign Strength in order to break the Seals for that faction. Sign Strength is determined by a number of things:
If a faction has a Hero through the Olympiad, this will automatically increase the sign strength for the patron. The death of a Hero will also decrease the sign strength for a patron. The death of a faction member at the hands of an opposing faction member will also decrease the sign strength of a patron. The death of a patron during the competition period will halve the current sign strength of that patron. As the Sign Strength of a patron increases, her attacks and defenses increase. The faction whose patron has the highest sign strength at the end of the competion period will win and have the chance to break the seals.
It goes without saying that during the competition period, all XP loss from dying at the hands of an opposing faction will be lessoned:
level 20-39: XP loss = 1%
level 40-59: XP loss = .50%
level 60-69: XP loss = .20%
level 70-75: XP loss = .10%
level 76+: No XP loss.
A player can change his faction only at a sacrifice of 750,000 accumulated XP.
Now we just need to work on the rewards for each Broken Seal...

Dusk <---- Unfortunitly here the castle holders on Lionna gave castles to alts and choose to go dusk as well, kinda screwing the competition.
This week will be a dusk victory as well.
The only reason Lionna has had a dusk change is due to a Political rivalry. the Alliance that is helping dusk win also owns castles ... they just decided it would be more detrimental to the other alliance if they took the seals dusk...
the thread is correct SEALS is not set up well and shouldnt give as much to the castle owners as it does and should give more to the dusk side if they win ... the DUSK participants are at the disadvantage anyway ... and if STRIFE was won then castles would be less defended too so occasional castle change of ownership would be seen more.
What dusk vs. dawn really needs is to scrap the whole "castle owners vs. non-castle owners" idea, its as flawed as the whole "x race is against x race", just doesn't work.
Castles needs to be able to align themselves to dusk and dawn in the same manner as individuals do, that would make it a true competition and allow for the dusk side to actually defeat dawn castles without becoming dawn themselves (thus defeating the whole purpose of letting dusk win).
Pretty simple solution that does away with the vast majority of issues there are now.
I think it's fine. Dawn should generally reign except when castle owners are bad and the others organize a "revolution of dusk." It's rare, but it has bonuses. They should, however, make it so you sign up accounts, not characters. Every char you own should be dawn or dusk specific.
Maybe it makes sense storywise, so does racial conflicts, but how many does those?
Seriously, generally very organised clans end up with or wanting castles (or wanting to be in alliances that has those), which is a main contributer to dawn winning, why shoot yourself in the foot by denying yourself the 7 signs if you let dusk win, then work for a castle?
There should be revolutionary castles that fight dawn.

there's just not enought live players to over come the seal stones that farmers contribute. The only way Dusk can win is to win ALL of the seals b/c there is now way in Aden that players can contribute enough seal stones to make up for one lost Dusk seal - Dusk can win, but you'll need an organized effort of all levels. hmmm, I mean, there's not much hope.

did you read my responce to this.
If you take away the 50k buy in for dawn. how will the bots sign up for it? they'd have to buy maner lord certific's. if NCsoft got rid of them (or not) and castle lord regualed them, so only live players and not bots could get them then that would solve the problem.
Bots go dawn cause they know that every one else is cause of castle lords have the best benefets. if the & signs was reformated and only the castle holders could be it, you can'yt buy your way on to it, then how can bots help them win?
It would end where the bots put the most stones into dusk side, and unless ally's that have bot clans in it that are castle owners (thouse being dawn) then you'd fix half the issues.
Then you'd have to worry about the festaval...on erica festaval never got done(in mouths), cause why every one goes dawn, same on kain, every one goes dawn not dusk, there is no compatision.
LoL there have been a few threads on 7 signs. How bad it's broken and what it would take to fix it.
I can't give my opinion on 7 sign's without getting this thread locked. So ill just say search the forums, there are several ideas that would make it better. But as we all know pigs can't fly yet.
