What items should i sell?

My question is basically what the topic is :P, but in more detail i was wondering what items i should keep as i may sell at later times, cause atm i am storing all materials in my storage i was wondering whether i should keep them for later or just sell them to a vendor. I am only level 15 atm so getting items like coal, stems etc.
You'll want to keep any kind of material that can be used for crafting, including coal and stems. You'll want to wait for a big town such as Giran (or Dion sometimes), in order to sell your materials off. Every material sells at a higher price, with select materials selling as much as 10 times the vendor price.

It's a good idea to check the prices of other shops in the area to see what you should sell at. Setting a Private Store up overnight is probably the best way to sell. In towns near the starter village you may also see people buying or selling materials, but often they are much lower than the market price to take advantage of new players.

If you don't need the money then you should save those materials for crafting higher end gear later on, you'll be a lot better off that way then trying to buy complete equipment.

The best armor and weapons in the game still require the same simple materials that you get when you're starting out, they just take thousands of pieces that sometimes need to be combined into other items first.

The things you will want to sell are jewelry and cheap armor that you get from lower level mobs. In general you won't want to look into selling to other players until you get into D grade equipment.
Every weapon and armor recipes and crafting parts (keymat) lesser than for D-grade set items or best D items shall go straightly to NPCs. Some exceptions are possible, but they don't worth your consideration.

There are some cases when you could want to upgrade unneeded NG weapons at NPC, but generally they are going just to be sold, as well as armor; you might be lucky enough to sell them to other lowbie players (especially top NG items or sets like Devotion), but don't expect that for sure.

D-grade armor and weapons you are going to sell to other players or to crystallize for yourself (check their crystal values before selling).

1st level craft recipes for basic mats can be sold to lowbie dwarves. Prices could be from 10k and sometimes even up to 100k (don't even dream that it would be your case :D), depending more on your luck and trading skills than on the value of the recipe itself. 2nd and more level craft recipes generally go to NPC, but there could be exceptions. The general rule is: if you have got a lot of them, everyone else has them, too.

And in no case should you sell your mats to other players unless you know exactly what you are doing (say, buying them low and selling high).
Dont ever sell your mats.

EVER.

Dont ever sell your mats.

EVER.

While it can be a good idea to save materials for equipment, there are also situations where selling materials can be more beneficial. For example when someone in a hurry to finish a piece of armor is paying over the market price, or when you anticipate a drop in the price of a certain material.

If you can sell at market price there's really no loss involved. Anyone well versed in the market will never lose money, everything they buy is sold back for equal amount or more than what they originally paid. Anything sold can also be rebought at the same price or lower.
thanks everyone for the info :)
Hmm.. Just so it is clear, materials come in two types, 'basic mats' and 'key mats.' You should save all basic mats, but sell most all key mats for items D grade and under.

Key mats can be used only to make one specific item. Their description will be something like "used by dwarves to make the Spear of Binding." Unless the item is one of the set-completion items (which you are unlikely to get until you are level 25 or higher) you should sell these to the NPC.

Basic mats are used to make many different item, and will have a description like "used by dwarves to make items." Basic mats from low-level mobs include coal, charcoal, stems, animal bones, animal skins, suede, thread, varnish, and Iron ore. These should all be saved. You will probably use them later to get your high-level equipment crafted

I hartily disagree with this. As another poster said If you can sell those mats for a fair market price then you will not lose money if you can buy them again when you need them for the approximate price. There are ofcourse exceptions when in certain situations for a period of time a certain material is significantly lower or higher in price, but still.

Certainly when you are in No or D Grade it is much better to sell materials, certainly those who now or constantly fetch a high price (such as animal bones, varnish, coal and iron ore) so you can at that moment get yourself better equipment and lvl faster.

Why would you between lvl 13 and 22 invest 100k in red coda's to farm varnish like mad and then keep them till your lvl 45+ when you can sell them there and then in Giran for a good price, bam have 1 to 1.5 mill at lvl 22 and can afford yourself some good D grade equipment? While when you actually get around to needing those items to craft, perhaps C, but probably B grade 1.5 mill i suddenly a lot less money to you?

This way my cleric when she reaches lvl 40 can already afford a full devine set and a crystal staff with mana up without any funding from any of my other charcters.
Ofcourse this is only possible with a good manor system, but still.

Key D-Grade materials for set bonusses however are very worth keeping because if you craft the items yourself you can often sell them for alot more then what you paid for the basic materials + what you would have gotten for the key mats of players. So you should see what D grade sets (http://www.lineage2.com/Knowledge/item_sets.html) are there, which items are needed for the set bonus and which of those you can't buy in the NPC shops in Giran or Heine.
The most common ones are:
- Brigadine Helmet & Shield
- Manticore Skin Boots
- Gloves of Knowledge
- Elven Mithril Gloves
Still if you don't think you'll have the funds to craft these sort of items you can still sell them to players, just make sure you get a very good price for them.
