I was wondering if the prophet was better than a SE if , lets say, i wanted to be a melee mage.
prophet has haste,bts,btb,focus,death whisper
so i would only need heal pots and be set.
SE has vr and good heals,
so i would need haste pots and be set.
i know these kind of build are expensive so i dont plan on making one right now, my first char is a lvl 19 futur SH on bartz :P
oh...and i would like to use 2 handed weap...would that be a good idea?
I would say a prophet is better at being a melee because they might not have VR, but they can wear heavy armor, have higher con + BTB + higher might and shield in C5.
Also a 2 handed sword or duals with focus are a very good idea, though some people go for fists because of better accurancy. Unless ofcourse you're taking too much dmg, then perhaps a 1-handed blunt or sword + shield is a better idea.
Dagger's are not good for prophets since their accurancy is way too low.
Still with better dex, str and VR SE's can still melee decently, at least alot better then bishops or EE's.
This is al solo or + pet however, in a group I would say SE's and Prophets are about equal in assist dmg if they are the only buffer.
Also if you want to go even more melee a Warcrier would be a good choice.
Starting c5, mages will get nerfed when wearing duals, so 2hand sword is much better.
I actually see more and more of them in game.
A prophet would be better at being a battle mage because of one thing. Hvy armor masteries.
Everything else goes to the SE. So either way, you can't go wrong.
SE with accuracy, vr, and well I would pick a dagger would be really nice, but they wouldn't be anywhere close as to a real dagger user. Same thing goes for 2 hand sword. You would be efficient, but not like a destroyer with it.
But in all honesty, it is fun to play as one. Both se and prophet. It does get harder to lvl though as you have no specials to kill enemies, just root or sleep and swing or shoot.
I would probably pick SE myself because what you lack in hvy armor masteries, you pick up with vr and good self heals.

The only problem with VR is that its healing capabilities are based on the damage you do. So it's not as great for characters that can't do a fair amount of damage.

I'm going to agree with Niennia here. WryCryer or OverLord would be a better hybrid of buffer/dd. In mass PvP a prophet / SE are healing, rooting and rezzing.

Aaargh. For the last time, this is a rumor, mistranslation or was taken out before Korean Live. Mystics now only get nerfed accurancy and cast speed while using a bow or polearm, duals will be fine.

That information should really be stickied >.<
Can't speak for the "Battle Prophet", but from level 40 to 41.5 I equipped my SE with +6 Spirit/Spirit duals, Plate Leather Set (for the +4 STR) borrowed from my HE, and +5 STR and +4 Dex dyes from the shop. Add L2Day scrolls of Might, Agility, Guidance, Focus, DW, plus Haste pots and self-buffed VR. Not a very practical approach! I wouldn't recommend solo xping for any length of time with this set up -- you can make faster xp just sitting and buffing groups -- but it was fun to try anyway. :D
I can speak as a battle prohet since I am one, lol. There are many others around and they would all agree with me that it is a blast to play. That being said, you need to be properly equipped and know were to hunt. I solo 99.9% of the time, have zero downtime and average 10% exp per hour.
The cool thing is, I can immedicately switch gears, throw on my robes and grab my staff and be very helpful in large parties. I love the diversity of the character.

I've tried doing that, but returning to town every 20 minutes for soulshots got annoying and I had to either go robes or hvy, not both. But yea, it is a fun class to play.
It was mentioned before that SE and Prophets set up just for buffing come out pretty much the same (robes, etc... )
But the great part is that the Prophet can be set up to become a Battle Prophet!!!
Although the SE has VR and great heals, its damage output is small to say the least. And since the health you get back from VR depends on your damage... you will end up healing yourself alot. You will have to spend lots of money on SS(cause you dont hit hard- more hits to take down mob) and Haste pots. They do have wind shackle, but that doesnt compensate for lack of damage, just received damage.
Battle Prophets:
The BEST fighter buffer out there. Haste, btb zerk, holy weapon, regeneration..... just to name a few fighter buff the SEs DONT have. They have thos on top of the buffs teh SE have minus VR.
With the proper set up and tatoos, the Prophet can dish out a big amount of damage, thus killing the mobs fast and efficiently.
So can a battle prophet compensate for no VR? IMO yes, absolutly.
-They can have heavy armor, mobs hit you for less.
-They have more strenth (armor sets and tatoos), so can take down the mob ALOT faster when soloing. You use less SS per mob, and you gain xp faster.
-They have regeneration buff, which at higher levels of buff does make a noticable difference in regen rate.
-They have zerk, increases attack speed and p. atck and casting speed. Decreases p.def (just a bit) and m.def... well worth having it though.
- They have BTB. Gives extra health. This way you can get +str /- con and +dex/-con tatoos and still have some decent hp for a healer. (Good for pve, not pvp)
- They do have heals.... they have heals from when they were a cleric. BUT, if you take down the mob fast and have heavy armor, one heal after each mob is more than enough (~350 hp). I found that when I tried to solo I was healing every 2-3 mobs (1x or 2x mobs)
Recap: IMO the damage output, heavy masteries and cleric heals of the prophet outweight the VR, good healing and low damage of the SE for soloing. (Im not saying SEs cant solo, im saying Prophets do it better)
Oh Btw: If your looking for a good " 2 handed weapon"
- Too level 40 stick with duals (107's)
- Level 40-52 Bezerker sword with Focus
- Level 52-60 Great sword or even better Over Enchanted Bezerker sword with Focus.
Ah! I am with you on that one, I wasn't sure after I read your previous post. I am more than fine after losing +4 CON, but to go -8 CON there better be a darn good reason.
thank you
very great info you gave me.
for tatoos...well..i dont really understand but ill try to find some info on them (so many things to learn when new hehe)
someone said to get a sword with focus...in the library, it says that prophet gets focus as a spell. does it stack?
the SA are confusing but i think i understand how it works.
so i was going to get a health 2 handed sword to compensate my lack of hp. whats better, focus + focus spell or health = focus spell + btb?
some people told me to buy a +6 dual...i went to look at them and they are like 2.1m +0.
i cant even buy the lowest d grade yet...(struggling to get my top ng weap, 40k left ^^ ) so i guess my battle prophet will have to wait alot till i make enough money with my dark mage.
how do you guys make all that money?
i did every newbie quest i could..currently doing the lizard quest (4k per round + drop+adena) at about 20k per hour.
im using newbie spiritshot m but when i wont have them its gonna cost alot 0.o
i like the game tough and thank you for the information !
