Overhit?

Ok, my friend and I have been very confused. He uses Powershot with an alt and he gets OverHit! What does it do? Is it just something occurs randomly when using a skill to kill a mob? Or do you get something special?
Help would be greatly appreciated.
Certain skills have a possibility of Over-hit (it says in its description). For an over-hit to work, it must finish off the mob. If it does, you get a boost to EXP but not SP.
Overhit activates when certain skills deliver a finishing blow to an enemy. If a skill has the ability to Overhit it will say so in the skill description.

When an Overhit occurs, you gain bonus exp relative to the amount of damage past the mob's life limit. Thus hitting a mob that's almost dead with an overhit skill will give the most exp.
also, overhit pretty much isnt worth the mp except for mages...my sps gets so much xp from overhit it just aint fair. If you ever make an sps you can get about 20% more xp just from their overhit spell.
yea but in a way you also lose 20% SP, so unless you die a lot be careful of Overhits :p
Being a melee though, you don't have a lot of MP to begin with, so using Overhit does use some MP, I find that its worth it at every opportunity because you will regain it back. Less MP you have total, the less you have to med later.

QFT. If you're a class that needs a lot of SP (I think everyone does at the beginning -- and at the end)- or dies a lot, don't use overhit too much.
I use Shadow Flare (overhit spell) to finish the mob on every kill unless it is not available (re-use delay). When I raise level I am always able to max out key skills. It just takes another full level before I get the rest of the skills and there are some skill lines I don't invest in at all (like surrender to poison, what were you thinking there NCSoft??).

(like surrender to poison, what were you thinking there NCSoft??).

:O sounds like a skill that should be used on a raid boss, or another mobs that gonna take like 20min to kill :)

Sadly, all this skill does is increase the CHANCE that poison will land. It doesn't increase damage (at least not noticeably at the levels I raised it to). The best spell for RB for an SH is Demon Wind since it nerfs their healing.
You just wait till you're on your 3rd class
IF I manage to subclass [which given the quest issues with the RB on my server is a big if] and IF I get my subclass to high level then I sure hope to have enough spare adena to buy SP scrolls. Needless to say, I relish the opportunity to be short SP on a subclass. :D

Since I can only log about 10 hours per week my modus operandi has always been XP per unit time over all else. I get way more XP per unit time using overhit so that's why I do it.

Sadly, this time limit sort of forced me to temporarily forgo the most fun part of the game [PvP, clan wars, and sieging] since once I got to the high 60s I had a hard time making up lost XP and gaining levels. There were a few months even that I barely kept flat XP when I was going to sieges every 2 weeks. Those of you that complain about nukers need to play one in a siege. Nuker = glorified pin cushion in a siege.
I mean 3rd class change. Stormscreamer in your case. The skills are so expensive it's obscene.
