Epic rings = no drop delay?

Ok, a nnumber of people went and raided baium. as they entered an unclanned charecter was waiting to do his quest. He was in no parties and was only there to hit baium with a pippette knife.

During the raid this charecter hid in a corner and did no damage whatsoever to the raidboss. when the taid was low on HP the charecter ran up to baium and started spamming pickup. The raid dies and he picks up the ring even though he did absolutely no damage to the mob and the people who did the damage were spamming pickup too. The ring was picked up within a second of the boss dying and there are L2r files to prove it.

Glitch or game design?
That really sucks man. I hope that guy is KoS to your alliance for the rest of his L2 career.

Sounds like a bug, IMO, but if it's a bug it is universal in C4 so I don't think you'll get the ring back. Hopefully fixed in C5.

(I have heard no other accounts like this. It would be easiest to test this with ant queen, I suspect.)
My experience is that players that do no damage dont have rights to the loot until have a period of time
How can you tell from the replay? It doesn't show names, parties, clans, or damage. All you'd really see is an unnamed toon picking up a ring.

quite the valid point you have there.
When all else fails, petition a GM. They can check into it all and theyll get it to you if what you described actually happened.
Just wondering why didn't you drop that guy in the first place?
There are currently no looting rights in place for boss drops; it's not just the boss jewelry, it's everything.

You will see the same problem at Anthras.
The toon actually did some damage. I don't know how you guys managed to ignore him there. You need to keep better track of who all the untagged buffers belong to. :)
I'd like to see this replay. This is probably why on Kain the farmers tell anyone needing to hit Baium to hit him and get out, or be PK'd.
The farmers on Kain let players do their quest? Your server is quite curtious! Ours just kill us, unless we kill them.
It's more complicated than that, but most have real clan allies so they have to play the politics just like anyone else.
How come when I raid (in the tank party ) and the boss dies, I can't pick up squat?
Because you didn't do jack for damage >< This is also why me, as the healer in said tank party, gets like 2000 exp and the nukers get 200k or more.

Because you didn't do jack for damage

I understand that but then why was this other person allow to yoink the ring?
That still needs to be proved though. A replay won't do it either.

Well, just from my experience, no damage = no drop pickups. Something is fishy with the story.
Even 1 damage is damage. Its enough to loot the boss.

Hogwash.
There is a screen shot of this on blah. The guy sat in a corner, hit baium with his pipette knife, then ran up as it died, and ninj'd the ring. There is no possible way he had priority looting rights.

The picture shows about 1 party surrounding the ring, spamming pick up, and the untagged, un partied character got the ring. Cant believe NC even let it happen. NC wont do anything about it from what I've heard from my clan mates.

And yes it was my alliance on erica that killed baium.

I'd only believe it if the screen shot was from the person's computer.
It really wouldn't matter if you believed it or not. It would be something NCSoft would check and they would easily be able to see if the character did damage to baium or was in party with someone who did.

Um, duh? That was my point, Captain Obvious.
That's one amazing screenshot. Is it a motion picture?

Just kidding, I actually believe you.
Seems like your points are often just meaningless banter

Are you just throwing random words together?

I'll type slowly so you might get it. Someone said that anyone can get first dibs on drops from raid bosses, even if they do no (or little) damage. I said that is not true.
*shrugs* a paste error, its "just" not "list in".

Other than that, whatever. In the interest of peace for someone else, I'll bow out. Continue if you want.
The screenshots are actually from the person who looted it's screen, lol.

I hear now that the ring may be taken from the player, but not given to the people who killed the boss. I think the replay file was a fraps or something, but the player definatly didn't do much, if any damage to the boss not giving him any first rights to the loot.

The player was allowed to hit the boss out of decency and the raid force let him go without noticing he didn't SOE.
Someone said there's a difference in looting-rights between Raidbosses and Bossmobs. Don't know if that's true though.
All mobs in L2 have looting rights delays. The same is for epic bosses, this must have been a glitch.
bots can spam pickup at a lightning rate faster than any human hand could hope so if there is an open piece of loot its up for grabs...the only raid bosses I ever paid attention to for loot rights was event raids since all other raids I do with people I can generally trust...so I really dont know if there are loot rights.

Explain how clicking "pick up" faster works when you cannot pickup for a certain length of time. During which, the ones with looting rights should've already picked up the loot.

I'll bow out.

What, got more email to lose?

Well if you would actually address my whole post instead of one point that might help you understand that my situation was hypothetical and relied on either there being no ownership right timeout.

Well, the rest of your post merely stated that you didn't know what you were talking about so I didn't include that.
It stated that I wasnt sure if certain raid bosses have rules setup for party pickup of items which considering thats what the thread is about, it seems pretty relevant.
The ring should have looting rights but aside from a bug there's only 1 case I can think of where the other person can get rights without hitting the boss at THAT time. Say what? He can? Yes... so let me explain.

If he was in a previous attempt and they did considerable damage but were unsuccessful in the attempt then it's possible for him to get the rights. As long as he didn't logout between the attempts.

Ok so you want to test this? Go somewhere and drop a mob to 3/4 hp with toon1. Sleep/root it then go far far away so the mob loses aggro on you. Now wait for the mob to heal 100%. Bring someone else (call him toon2) and kill the mob. Toon1 will have priority rights to the drop.

I haven't tested this in awhile so maybe someone can retest. I'm too lazy to do it now.

Last time I checked just holding down the pickup button is faster then spamming it ever was >.>
I don't know anything about the event in question but I have witnessed the following with my dorf.

A group and I were partying in a necro/cata. We entered a room with mobs we thought were "fresh." We also stumbled upon a obvious death drop "23093 or some random number of green seal stones." We start partying, killing, spoiling, etc. and one of my spoiled mobs turns blue. I try to sweep and got the "there are no priority rights on sweep" message or "sweeper failed" when nobody used any corpse skills.

I have to agree with the previous poster that there had to be something else amiss with this incident. Perhaps the toon DID do some damage "the last time" and it carried over. I cannot say for sure, but it does tend to make sense.

Did you get a message of mob already spoiled? The previous party with a BH could have wiped out and they already spoiled the mob. Unless it's a fresh mob then that would be a bug.

throw down a bunch of stuff next to a bot party and watch how fast they pick it up...I dont know how it works but it seems they can get stuff faster than I have ever seen any human
