what armor should a B grade dwarf wear

i had BW and trade it up for doom..im really not to sure exactly what one i like yet so lets hear some suggestions....so every one knows i currently have an AOBA +3 w/Health and a Lance +3 (no SA) so i can go both ways at this point...
Others may have more comprehensive reasons for certain sets, but i'm a sucker for the Doom set bonuses.
use doom with the pole and BW with the aoba, my thoughts. really, it doesnt matter, both sets are good. if you do pole parties, however, you are going to want some high total hp, to make it easier on the buffer/healer. also, these two sets are basically equal. you cant really trade up from one to the other, they have about the same p def (doom should have slightly more since is is a one-peice, but that also means you cant enchant it as much and you risk loosing all your central armor in one bad death >.<).
...also, im assuming that you are talking about the heavy sets.
Doom is awesome for pole parties, the extra 600+ HP is going to be very handy, and because you're using a pole, the decreased damage is going to be less noticable.

With a regular weapon like the AOBA, Blue wolf is far better, since you don't really need tons of HP (especially since it already has health) and greater damage output would generally be prefered.

So if you can get both sets, go for it.
i tryed Doom for a lil while and Just got got another trade in giran earlier today for the BW set back so yea..i solo most of the time and REALLY like the way it looks so i think ima stick with the BW set :)
Depends on buffs.

With VR - pdef + damage + no concern for total hp

Without VR - high hp for aoe pole

No matter WHAT, doom and BW have the same pdef. But Doom dishes out less DPS (damage per second) than BW set. The only reason for high hp is to take a beating for longer before dying. It DOES NOT make it easier on a healer to have higher total hp. The same amount of hp must be healed as the mob hits you because the pdef is the same. If you are going through 5k hp very fast, having higher hp helps. If you are NEVER rapidly losing hp, there is NO reason to go with Doom armor.

VR totally ends this discussion. VR2 or VR3 throw the balance entirely in the favor of BW for aoe pole. The extra damage means that as you swing you gain back more hp...thus giving you more hp by the end of combat than the small bonus from Doom. A few str may not seem like much, but if you run through patk effects of +4 str you will find the DPS goes up nearly 15%. Thats 15% more VR'd hp...15% more damage...15% less time the mob is hitting you.

Unless you are factoring in a shield bonus, the BW is by far, better. The shield bonus changes everything, however.

the real question is
do you part? do you duel box? do you omainly do pole parties?
ok 3 questions really

if you are mainly a solo ws like i was and didnt always have buffs and rarely had a pole party i would recommend +4 or 5 str -4 or 5 con
bw heavy and an aoba with haste
hp is irrelevent ask any dagger, mage, archer or bd and they will tell you the only thing that matters is how quick you kill the mob

if you duel box an se the best pve armor would be plated leather

if you are a bh prolly plated leather

if you actually pole the bw could still be acceptable but just dont pull too many mobs or too much hate

if you duel box an se the best pve armor would be plated leather

"dual" box :p

And I can attest to this. With VR1 on my Paladin I can wear Plated Leather and exp.
i am almost entirely solo and all i use is an AOBA w/Health..i dont have the money nor the time to have a second account to constantly have a buff so i live with Gsap and haste pots to get me by...I eat Ghp like it is going out of style and even more Bss than air i breath in a general day...that should basicly sum up my lvling process...
Doom is not a good armor at ALL if you plan to just do AoE, in fact if you don't use a shield with doom armor it's a waste of cash.

BW is beter for spear, if you want more hp just go +CON at the same time but thats also pointless.

+++ DAMAGE is the same as taking less damage.
The faster you kill the less damage you receive. And if 600 hp means life or death for you in a pole party. Go level some more or take easier mobs...

Blue wolf.
It was said: PL is the best PvE armor as long as you have VR. BW is way better than doom unless:
you tank (not w/ a dwarf) dark red mobs (shield bonus is very nice), you tank RBs, you are WS playing w/ seiege golem/hog cannon, pvp (w/ shield again).
I used BW for a time.
I switched to Doom. {Oppourtunity came when we could afford and the wife needed B gear} so, we crafted and bought a Doom set. {re-sealed BW,gloves and boots, and got BW Light armor for her} :eek:

With Clannie help I use DMG/w Health, using it and my own Lance/w CS, I am near the same level as you, so I understand the Bshot comsuption, but I refuse to be a slave to the pots. {that said,,hard to do} At this point, leveling solo is extremly hard to do for my WS.

With the pole i am normally in party, and have not seen stress on the healers using Doom. What i notice with Doom vs. BW is I seem to hit more using Doom. {true with a pole against groups im not missing, but single spawns in the Cat's big wiffer} This applies to the single handed blunt too IMO. I wiff more with BW than Doom.
When hunting a stunner mob. for example. Hunter Gargs, in BW ...count on getting stunned each mob or every other. In Doom,, 1 in 5. {two person party with me tanking them}

Great point, but as a WS,,,I take the beating until the tanks or damage dealers can finish or draw aggro back anyway. His comments on VR are spot on too IMO,,If you are hitting and not wiffing.

I agree, but not being a tat expert i have never applied one to offset -CON & -DEX of BW. Nor did i see a noticable difference in damage output when wearing the BW vs. Doom.

*What do i miss from BW?
*Speed +7 {being a WS you pokey anyway :p}
*HP Regeneration +5.24% {I miss the regen, but not that bad :eek:}

CON -1 {I sure don't miss, stunned sux :eek:}
DEX -2 {I sure don't miss, or rather do in BW :)}
Maybe fixable through a tat,,but like you i can only afford so much at a time. ;)

Doom:
HP +320 {Love this}
Breath Gauge increased {? for a spaz like me swimming i guess it helps :p}
STR -3 {No kidding, as a WS, havn't noticed it}
CON +3{No kidding, Noticed big time :)}
With a Doom Shield, shield defense rate +24%{Love this, the shield rings successful more than the sweet fluid quest :)}

As far as dropping anything from a set on getting croaked, I freak anyway. I guess there is advantage in being able to plus 4 the Doom body armor without bursting into crystals, where with BW its plus 3 without risk.

My opinions only. I see and play with a lot of dwarfs that swear by the BW. Me, I don't regret the switch to doom.

im cool with that but the second you go +con -str expect a verbal ganking
Yeah - con all the way for pve :p

As for minus dex. Miss an extra 5% and you will still tear out a lot more damage. My tank went from .35%/buff rounds to .45%/buff round with a simple -5dex +4 str. That's a 30% increase in exp, and those are LONG averages (well over 30% bar). Now with a pole, accuracy may become more of a concern, but CERTAINLY not with a blunt.

Again, this is PVE setup. Dex is essential for landing hits on light armor classes in pvp. It also provides that essential run speed we all could use about 10x as much of. But for standing still dishing out damage on green/white mobs...pump that patk all you can. If you aren't exping on green/white mobs, you are hunting in the wrong area.
IMO all depends from what you want to do.
For PvP: Doom + Aoba w/Health is great.
For PvE (if you can duo with SE):
- for group mobs/catacumbs: take zubei's/bw and Lance (you take a little respect for that lil guy :P).
- otherwise: Great Sword w/Focus (much better than duals, and dwarves looks awesome with them :P) +STR tatoo (armour doesn't matter in fact but if You go in +STR then of course it's no point in chooseing Doom).
For PvE if you are in team: as above Great Sword w/Focus +STR tatoo

About armours:
Doom (PvE): Dwarves doesn't have shield mastery so it isn't such a big advantage, also this HP boost is for dwarf nothing. If your life depends for this +320HP them i'm your playingstyle is wrong. In PvE this armour is good only if you have to tank in party
Doom (PvP): IMO best armout for dwarf in PvP. Here every small things can do a big difference. Aslo as a dwarf you should go in +CON (which sffect Stun/HP/CP).

BW: IMO only good if you solo (run speed) a lot or do poleparties (+STR).
In PvP your only chance is +CON so BW isn't good.

Zubei's: Well it isn't such a bad armour as you can think. Most stats you can increse/decrease by tats. Zubei's in neutral armour so you can use it in pvp and pve as well and don't be afraid that you have -con etc.
Here is my future setup for pvp and pve.. Bw heavy +3 str -1 con -2 dex = 42 str 27 dex and 44 con. Then +4 dex -4 con = 42 str 31 dex and 40 con.. 40 Con is still really high compared to anything else. 42 str has u hitting higher than even a regular darkelf. (per hit not dps) and 31 dex still increases u by 2 points from the regular 29 with is 2% accuracy 2% run spd 2% attack speed 2% evasion 2% crit rate.

I don't see the point in having so much con if you hit and move slow. I rather be able to kill faster than be able to hold out on the inevitable longer.
str is way better than dex for pve. stunners give 25% exp bonus - fine. that hunting along w/ titan in maj (no -con) in hotsprings doesnt give me impression that con/maj helps that much against mob stun (it has the landing rate of old, old, old non-nerfed stun some classes had back in the day..., it lands a lot and 45con/maj doesnt even help so much).
So -con till oblivion for pve. (as long as you can survive magic crits from mobs!)
I agree with BW heavy for armor when doing PvE. For a weapon I use a +4 Tsurugi*Samuri on my 52 WS. If you get in a group with crit buffs, the damage is awesome (compared to blunts). Duals seem to be better than blunts until the 65-70 range, when your blunt masteries start to add up.

duels are always better than blunts
