And WoW ends up being the MMORPG that does it :(

http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowbilling/?id=abl02008p

Character transfers between owned accounts, thats freaking sweet. It always ****ed sucked my wife and I had to remake new characters on new accounts just because they were on the same account initially.

Too bad Lineage 2 couldn't have been first :(
See it can be done if they really wanted to do it.
That would be really nice, an older game I played had that as well.
That's great!
Really too bad NCSoft couldnt have been the first...thumbs up to Blizzard for listening to their player base. :)

thumbs up to Blizzard for listening to their player base.

This made me laugh.

It's an NA game made for the NA player base....

I was more referring to the fact that anyone who's played WoW will know that Blizz only half-way listens to their player-base. They do nice things like this to take your mind off of the fact that they continue to grind the end-game and PvP into the dust.
I don't really think it has much to do with the NA/KR difference on this issue. RO, which is an older Korean game, enabled server transfers in the NA servers after their game had been running for a few years.

I do doubt that we'll be getting anything like server transfers unless they're enabled in Korea first though.

Edit: As for Blizzard listening to their fanbase...where's Starcraft 2?

I do doubt that we'll be getting anything like server transfers unless they're enabled in Korea first though.

Well, I wasn't going to mention it... but then I saw this post and thought it'd be ideal...

While I was looking for C5 info on the Japanese site yesterday, I came accross this:

Server Transfer in Japan (http://www.lineage2.jp/event/_item1001_10568.aspx)

It seems they are making an event out of a server transfer.
There are many limitations, but its still a server transfer...

So server transfers are definitely possible :o
yeah... my Japanese is a little rusty. Okay, it's non-existent!
hehe .... this could be really funny(if they dont put any restrictions on it :) ).... think about the marked :)

e.g. buy Animal Bone in Hindemith for 650a
sell it in Lionne for 1700a

That would really make the marked shake and act funny :)

yeah... my Japanese is a little rusty. Okay, it's non-existent!

Mine too, could I have a brief translation please..... :)
hehe interesting translation by Google but I get the gist, thanks for helping :)
wouldn't the ability to move a character from one user account to another just be begging for the "sale" of characters?

I mean according to the EULA, we can't sell ingame property such as equipment, adena, ect. for real money but what stops someone form selling a fully equiped character for $$$$

under the guise of a charcter account transfer?
Well WoW wasn't first to do charicter transfers by far. EQ has had it for the longest time.

That link just proves that NCKorea cares less about America and Europe then any of there other markets. I think I'm canceling bolth accounts today any way.

This is exactly the first thing I thought of. Especially since you can recall an account that you've started after you've sold it. Account buyer's paradise.

Of course they are possible. I highly doubt that any game company would create a game where you couldn't be flexible with the characters. Especially if the possibility of merging servers (games sometimes need to do this) is to be taken into consideration.

Also, and I have no reason to believe this is false but there is always a possibility...

Back in C2 I had a clan member who had a character on another server. He claims that he contacted a gm and made up a false complaint where he stated that he started up his game and that his character was on a completley different server.

Eventually the gm moved his character to what he claimed was the "orginal" server.

Now, this could just be a story but it is very intriguing if there is truth to it.

In any case, if Japan is getting some sort of limited character transfers then I can't see why we can't get them either. (not that I want to move my current server to go to any of the other "current" servers)

Especially for the Euro players who might want to move to Teon. Though from what it looks like, they might be happier with a new Euro server as Teon seems a bit full.

This is exactly the first thing I thought of. Especially since you can recall an account that you've started after you've sold it. Account buyer's paradise.

Who really cares anymore? Everyone knows it is a losing battle. Accounts are being traded every day now. I won't mention anything about bots cause it will get locked, but I for one would love to see what Blizzard did to also be done here in Lineage2.

Of course it will be different because it is a different game with a different feel, but I am all for it.

So what if someone buys an account from someone else such as a high lvl buffer? They will still pay NCSOFT for doing the transfer.

And so what if someone just came into the game right now, and will never ever stay if he/she has to grind 8 hours a day for 2 years to be lvl 75 on just one class, and they decide to buy the account of a lvl 75 user whos bored with the game? I don't have a problem with that.

It will bring people into the game. I am actually sick of all these rules that stop you from enjoying the game, or playing it how you want to. This is my first MMO and definetely my last. I just can't bring myself to fully quit :D. It's like crack. I deactivate my accounts and say I am never playing again, and next day after work I log back in...

The grind in the game is unreal, and I never even got close to 75, and from what I hear it takes the same amount of time to get from 75 to 78 as it does from 1 to 75. That's creazy. I wouldn't mind buying an account that's lvl 75, but I also refuse to pay some creazy amount that would buy 10 different games or something... I play for fun, nothing more, it just seems that I'm addicted :p, that's all....

Even though NCNA wouldn't be the first to do it, think about all the opportunities it has if you do decide to do it. Or better yet, wait a few months, see how it turns out for Blizzard. If it's a success, do it too. If not, laugh at them, but at least they're trying to improve things even when they have 50% of all MMO players... That says something!
Stupid side-scrolling...
There's always a negative to everything. If NC allowed toon transfers to other accounts I'd be buying a new account for my warsmith. Maybe another for the prophet as well.

Everyone keeps worrying about the farmers and the account sellers. Well since events benefit so many farmers then why not do away with it, too.

Yet your own sig only helps confirm the point he was trying to get across.

Heh sorry.I'll stop now.

wouldn't the ability to move a character from one user account to another just be begging for the "sale" of characters?

No because:

1. Its easier to powerlevel characters on seperate accounts anyway.
2. Those who wants to sell, powerplay and such generally wouldn't have the same characters on their accounts that they wanted to play at the same time.

under the guise of a charcter account transfer?

If you mean me making a level 75 prophet, then transfering it to your account?

Well, there are ways of verifying ownersship of account and you just have to check if the ownersship details and playing details changed lately, so this really isn't an issue.

And besides, if you want to transfer a character over, why would you want it on the same account in most cases?
Well, I would be satisfied with simple character transfers on accounts, don't even need server transfer. (though I can completely understand and support those who do).

Blizzard has sensible limitations, NCSoft could have too.

I'm easily confused but paying someone . . . say $300 for a fully leveled and equiped character seems alot easier than powerleveling.

why . . . instant PvP ready character.

what I'm saying is that allowing the transfer of characters from one account to another basically lets people sell their characters to others. You are selling the intelectual property on NCSoft just like if you sold adena or a robe or wa weapon. Its would be a policy that literally breaks the EULA.

back in the old times of SWG people would unlock a jedi, level it, and the sell it (the account) for large sums of $$ because someone wanted the 1337 and didn't want to "earn it". They got away with with it as "selling the time it took to get.

This is the kind of thing that turns the game into more of a business for the players than the company that produces it.

That of course is my opinion

Heh sorry I felt like being a wiseass. I'll stop now.

that is supposed to show how foolish we are, paying for a game, when the company doesn't care. I spose someone, all over NCsofts ntus will come back and say "while there gross income is so and so dollars, with the amount of this and that NCsoft really doesn't make any money off us and are coming out about even" "that's why we get what we get and you should be happy you got it"

Ok, you're seriously confused. This has been going on bigtime in L2 ever since the beginning, you can't go to any of the bad sites and not have a truckload of characters for sale.

So this system wouldn't make any difference to the sellers and buyers, it would simply make the game more fun for the regular players.

And then the original owner comes along and recalls the account. With toon transfers, you buy the account, transfer the toon and then who cares if the original owner recalls the account.

got a little pyramid going here.
Wouldn't help, because even if you buy the account, you can't transfer the character. The account owner of the two accounts will be different so it would never be possible to transfer.

It would work the same way it does now, only legally and with more flexibility. Once you get an account, you can simply transfer the character over to wherever you want and just delete the empty account.

There is a lot of money involved in this, and a lot of room for profit for NCSOFT. Reasons not to do it are few, and those come from hardcore players who like I said before want the game to be hard for everyone. No one is forcing you to buy an account or a character that was powerleveled. You can level your character to 78 all day long, I have nothing against that. However I do not play that way. I play casually, I pay for the game just like you, and I want to have fun in the game. That's why I play. Grinding 10 hours a day may be fun for some, but not for many.

You can argue that this game was meant for hardcore players, but we all know north americans aren't hardcore like korean players, and since this game is made in korea it wasn't really meant for other regions. It was made hardcore. I love the game. No doubt about that. But I hate the grind (and I know I'm not alone). If I can buy a character for a decent amount of money (with money I spent working instead of grinding) I would. I don't do it now because not only is it illegal, but most people who sell accounts gave them bad names or bad actions in game before their sold.

I would love to buy a lvled account though that wasn't named xyzsdffdfsa. Some people actually enjoy the countless grind, but I don't. Sometimes it is fun, but it gets boring very fast. If it wasn't for pvp, politics, end game skills, etc. I would have stopped playing a long time ago. But right now it is very addicting and you don't notice it until you quit for like a week or something...

Bottom line for me is this. Lineage 2 is a beautiful game. NCSOFT is not a beautiful company right now. If blizzard owned Lineage 2 and left it how it is now, with chornicles improving every time pvp wise, skill wise, look wise, and with blizzard's rules it would be a perfect game.

I have heard countless times if WoW had a better pvp and politics it would bring L2 to bankruptcy. For me if it had the look also, it definetely would!!!

Last thing, there's nothing wrong with following into another companies footsteps. Blizzard did it first but there's no reason why it can't be brought to Lineage 2.

You can argue that this game was meant for hardcore players, but we all know north americans aren't hardcore like korean players, and since this game is made in korea it wasn't really meant for other regions.

Don't be such a racist. I'm a NA player and I'm as hardcore as any Korean gamer.
Um, Star Wars Galaxies has been doing this for like a year now, costs @ $35 per transfer last I knew. You can transfer between accounts, between servers, whatever. I also believe you can do this in EQ2 and other SOE games. (Not pushing SOE here, I hate them with a passion, just pointing out WoW wasnt the first.)
reminder : switching server in WoW costs 25 USD(thats 2 months of gaming) and can be done once every 6 months..gotta be kidding..
Thats not bad actually, I'd pay it if I needed it.

And didn't know the others had it, that really just makes it worse that NCSoft Korea can't quite figure it out or are just being stubborn.
Yeah, I made some dumb mistakes. I end up with two chars I want to login at the same time on the same account then 50 levels later realize I can have one rest and level the other one at the same time if they were on different accts...so many reasons why this would be nice and only a few reasons why it wont ever happen.

I totally agree here.

I recently moved servers, cause I got really tired of the pollitics on my old one, but instead of being able to move my high lvl necro to my new one, I hads to make a whole new toon. Kind of depressing to spend 2+ years then swich servers in this way.

while being in giran recently, I was standing around and someone started tossing items to the ground, after I picked up a few things, I got to PMing her....she told me her and her husband are tired of the game and are quiting and will move to another game once it comes out.

So why would it be that, she didn't start any mess or anything, has a good rep. and good friend..just her life changes and moved on...why would it matter if she sold her acc to someone else.

I think NCsoft has the wrong stand point, and can focus things...I do think it would put more of a work load onto the staff and the game.

To coment on the Japan issue: a few of their servers where full to the max, so they made a new server and are giving the players on the old one the chance to move servers.( I got that after reading about 4 paragraphs)

Thats not bad actually, I'd pay it if I needed it.

And didn't know the others had it, that really just makes it worse that NCSoft Korea can't quite figure it out or are just being stubborn.

I'd pay too.

And about stubborness... if KR does it and not US, it's not stubborness.. it's just a big mistake
