This time last year we had one of the best events ever to coincide with 4 July.
Less than a week to go this year, so will we get the same this time?
For those that weren't around, Raid Bosses spawned randomly right outside towns, and needed lots of parties to take down - dropping lots of goodies when they died. With our current farmer situation on Gustin, this should make for some interesting gameplay this time around, if it happens.
I have a feeling it will be scrapped this year. Alot of people complained that us americans were just thinking about ourselves and we should not have events because of our holidays. I would like to see a nice event though. About had my fill of bad events last time I killed an innocent non aggro bunny. :( I say lets have an event for every countries holiday. that would almost fill up the calendar wouldnt it?

yup sure thing SirE I dont celebrate holidays as it is. So could care less if we celebrate them in game. I JUST WANT EVENTS!!! :)
People will complain either way. Either they have time off during a NA holiday to participate or they don't. That's why I say, do them whenever. Plus, someone ALWAYS comes in and complains "Why should I care about U.S. Independence???" Yeah well, I don't give a slap about Boxing Day but I wouldn't complain if it came with an event.

i'd rather have events just to have events.. ones that are actually decent.
I just find it borderline rude for every event to be completely based on either a specific religion or united states oriented, even though NCSoft calls themselves North American.

A medal event would be awesome, I dont care if it falls on a holiday or not. Whenever I get holidays, the first thing I think about are my friends and family and our activities together, not video game events.
Because people think the world will end if there isn't the same celebration everywhere they go. Don't see people campaigning for specific named european holidays being celebrated for Teon or even in European based MMORPGs.
I pretty much prefer simply to have ingame events and its good if they coincide with various holidays (so more people can participate), just not all this named nonesense.

Personally I'm just glad they're doing an event that everyone can participate in. It's not bringing me any closer to A gear but I'm going to have fun with it regardless. I'm sure we can expect a Clan or two to put on an impressive display.

You are right, its just .... an event which pumps the income helps normal players very much and so most people realy hope to get such events.
I do not want to start the old discussion about farmers etc. and the income problem of normal players .. its just, that an event is allways the hope that NC helps at least little bit to compensate the difference between the "usual suspects" and normal players.
And the flames against such an event exist because the situation, like many get the info:

Simple. Read all of the crying after just about every other event (ruined economy, ruined castle owners, ruined chronos salesman, etc.)
I can talk only for the 20-30 people at our Teamspeak ... we all LOVE events like the pumpkin or medal .. grinding content. We do not play L2 so much because we hate killing mops :)
But i realized a lot flaming against grinding events ... but we where sure, that NC know that the most like their grinding-events. I say "the most" because i realy realy never meet anybody who said:
"what for a sh*t event, you must grind to gain questitems etc."
Most of my clan are laughing about the firework stuff, not because they do not like the event, its because they expect/pray for/hope for a new "income-event" ... so they are frustrated and the result is a bad mood ...
Grinding Events do have an other mayor advantage:
they bring activity to the clans and they bring up interessting discussions and much more for a clan ...
Fireworks maybe a good idea too ... if the people (of my little community) are not waiting and praying like hell for a good income-push-event.
Not important what an A-Grade Helmet cost, not important if farmers go for the raid bosses as long as we have good event from time to time ... and it is TIME :)
While I agree that income events are nice, the main thing I look for in an event is fun. Getting special drops from normal monsters means I'm probably going to gain 2 or 3 levels just from grinding during this event.
The fun doesn't have to end here either, sometime down the line when someone wants to pk me I can shoot a firework up into the sky and scream "look over there!", then run for my life.
I agree this just keeps geting worse and worse. I think I have had enough of paying 15 dollars a month for this half ars attempt at pleasing players. The hey ill give you fireworks but you have to ebay adena to get anything else in my game attitude.

I dont think NC start an event to dissapoint the players, i think their goal it is to increase the fun ingame. But - and thats my point - i think NC going the wrong way, releasing such an event at the current situation.
I dont need an event to get A grade. What im saying is since december thier feeble attempts at events have been rediculas.
Now we get another worthless event. Of course by the second day you wont even have to go out and hunt anything to get any fireworks. They will be for sell in town for some rediculas price. Like fireworks are even worth anything.
I have been playing this game for 2 years and what has it come down too. Stting in giran bying and selling items day in day out just to be able to upgrade.
I have always looked forward to events (before Decmber 05) as a way to finaly get a chance to aquire something while actually playing the game. But as has been the case with every event this year here we go with another lame event.
You let me know when there is a fun event and I will be glad to participate I haven't seen a fun event since Thanksgiving last year.

I look at this as an event to have fun with just for the purpose of having fun.
I like events that are fun to participate in but really don't have superb unreal rewards. Events that drop items across the server so you don't have to be at a lucky spawn are good. My favorite event so far was the xmas event. The trees were fun, slightly useful, and everyone enjoyed the carols as something at least DIFFERENT. Everyone wants an event for more money. MAKE A DWARF. Check that out, use spoil and farm some varnish, it's an event every time you click spoil! Events disrupt the market for people who ACTUALLY make their own money and try. In L2 you have to spend time exping, and seperate time making money. That's how the game has...should...and I pray, will work. It's long term, that's what makes it worth playing for two years unlike ALL THE OTHER MMO's.
4th of July event, firework that cause rapid increase in cp regen (x10) during combat. Make sure it doesn't knock off buffs. Make them drop decently or have to be assembled from a stick, shell, wick, and gunpowder. Bingo, perfect event. Economy isn't ruined, great bonus to pvp, or preventing yourself from being griefed. Everyone wins, themed with the majority of customers, but not worthless to those who aren't USA.
I was expecting a drop event...it actually helped a lot the lowbies(the last ones that is)..i got fre [censored] cause D grade enchants were dropping like mad and new player could get something free..
i aint asking for the moon, neither i'm asking for A grade, im simply asking for 4-5 millions...
I can not believe your complaining about this event...You go around and gather the needed parts to shoot fireworks up into the sky.
I complain for a very simple reason. I dont know how that is on your server, but on Hinde in less popular locatons theres 2 bot parties per mob, and company does nothing about it but re-launches useless event. Stage 11-12 now 30-75kk and very few exept ebayers can afford it coz raid bots own Lilith and even Baium sometime now, they own Zaken and AQ and core and orfen, let alone regular raids which we sometime battle from them, all server knows them by name and company does NOTHING. At least medal event would get the price od stage 11-12 down, thats why it would be so much better. By launching event which is dull AND useless for players company proves still further that they inconsider needs of real players.

Personally I like the events that drop allot of loot. Why? Not to get rich overnight but because the loot that drops finally comes down to a reasonable price.
I like the way the economy is now, except for the prices. Actually I think on Devianne they are starting to hit the max amount people will pay for items. I know a couple of people who have gotten in game emails from farmers complaining about them selling stuff to cheap. Now what has this game come to when that starts to happen. Just waiting for the day when farmers start to do RL threats because you are taking money from their pockets.
Take a look at the events last year and the events this year. Why such a drastic change in the way they manage events. I think 90% of the players loved the Independence Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving Day events. But if you asked the same players about the events this year, I would say close to the same amount of people are disappointed in the event staff for this year.
Don't get to excited you haven't seen the fireworks yet. Did you do any fireworks from the arrow head run event (booooo another poor event). They were weeeeeeeeek, animation was like using an sp scroll.
A little fireworks isn't too bad, and its not too much of a hassle really.
I know people want big stuff (heck I do too, I am still poor), but lets just hope the pumpkin event will be cool and not toned down.
This will be kinda cool, because at least this time I know everything in the event sucks, that actually makes it fun in its own way...instead of worrying and wanting something good, but only getting mediocre rewards while hoping for bigger.
