Critical Attack bugged?

Player Questions Started Last reply 20 posts
I recently finally aquired a Deadman Glory, lvl 55 BH and noticed my Crit Atk is base at 43 no focus which is what my Crit Atk is with no weapon at all equipped !!!!

This got me wondering and i asked my Wife to show me her Crit ATK, lvl 55 SE with her SoV and hers is 84 base no focus.

Both weapons have the same Atk Speed just the SOV is lower in P.ATK power.

I suppose the question is, do Blunts get a Crit Atk bonus? If they dont by design, why?

Why is it that Blunt Tanks get shafted over Sword weilders like DA, SK, EK, all tanks that are able to use Swords that get the bonus Crit Atk + Focus effect SA and Blunt gets no Crit Atk bonus and no way of increasing Crit Atk unless they go Rsk.Focus which doesnt apply anyway until under 60% HP.

Sure i could use a sword for the Crit Atk bonus + Focus SA effect, but why would i do that when i dont get Weapon Masteries and only Blunt Masteries?

Anyway, i just think its very unbalanced and should be looked into.

So how was it?

Blunts have more accuracy and have no mobs strong against blunt weapons, but some that are weak to it. Swords have more crit chance and have no mobs that are strong against it but also have no mobs weak against it.

Yeah from a PvE point of view, it still doesnt really weigh out when you take into consideration the amount that Focus SA's increase Crit Atk, for example, Focus lvl 3 from a buffer raises Crit Atk by 25. If im working it out correctly, which im 99% sure i am, Focus SA effect on a Great Sword is 69.

The 69 Crit Atk increase from Focus on a Great Sword seems to be trivial reguardless of what class it is, i checked it on a Healer, Caster and Ranger class to make sure that the number didnt change per class, never know how the mechanics in this game vary between classes, so i wanted to make 100% sure of it.

Now let me add, that as a Blunt weilder, Lvl 3 Focus doesnt do the same amount as it does for a Sword weilder, ie: Lvl 3 Focus adds 26 to my lvl 54 Destroyer and 25 to my Wifes lvl 55 SE, Destroyer is equipped with a Great Sword and SE is equipped with a SoV ( Sword ). Now the amount my lvl 55 BH gets from having a Deadman Glory equipped is 13.

Destroyer 54, DEX 26, Crit Atk Base 42.
SE 55, DEX 23, Crit Atk Base 41
Bounty Hunter 55, DEX 29, Crit Atk Base 43.

So lets do the math for the Great Sword, Sword Crit Bonus is roughly 43 + 25 from lvl 3 Focus + 69 Focus SA effect = 113 Crit ATk + 42 Base = 179 Crit Atk total.

Sword of Valhalla, Sword Crit Bonus of 43 + 26 from Lvl 3 Focus + 42 Base = 111 Crit Atk total.

Now lets do the math from a Blunt point of view, 13 from lvl 3 Focus + 43 Base = 56 Crit Atk total.

Both the Deadman Glory and Sword of Valhalla weapons have the exact same atk speed so amount of swings per any given amount of time would equal the same when fighting mobs of the same level to cancel out any disparity when it comes to avoidance from higher lvl mobs etc etc.

Now if i had to take a guess, a Damascus with Focus effect would be roughly around 56, maybe its just a rough guess, but i feel that im close because of the Fast weapon speed compaired to the Great Sword with a Normal Weapon speed, which is why the Great Sword has the higher crit increase from the Focus SA.

Taking this into consideration, it wouldnt pan out to be a equal surface because crits would far outweigh the amount of damage dealt compaired to the small amount that you do when fighting mobs with a weakness to Blunt.

Now from a PvP point of view where no one is really better against any type of damage ie: Sword, Blunt, Dagger etc etc, then a Sword type with a 3-4 time crit ratio over a Blunt type is going to previal by a long way simply because of crits, not to mention most plate tank classes now that have Sword masterys that can have a high Crit Atk rating now have Shied Stuns, yes i know that some classes only just recieved these in C4, but none the less, they still have them giving them a very big advantage.

Add a SwS into this mix and watch their Crit Attack push past 200+, in some cases up towards 300.
I always love reading detailed reply with a lot of math. and stuff in it :D

Well done :)
I think you're still missing the inherent bonus to accuracy all blunts and fists recieve. While it's true on some attacks a sword will crit where a blunt won't and do more damage, it's also true that on some attacks a sword will miss completely but a blunt will hit, thus doing more damage. I would think this would apply most in PvP against daggers and archers.
The way I see it is Swords are the standard (normal) crit rate. Blunts and H2H are below normal due to higher accuracy (hitting more often deserves fewer crits). Then you have Daggers (highest crit rate) but when you use one, you miss a lot more.

Im very willing to test this theroy. When you look at it like this, yeah one would think that this is how it pans out over any given amount of time for example, a parse done over a 5 hour period using a blunt type of weapon compaired to another parse over a 5 hour period using a sword.

The only real reason i brought this up was because since i have obtained the Deadman Glory and have been using it for a few days now after having used a Great Sword for many months, i have noticed a reduction in my DPS, reguardless of how high my accruacy is, yes fair enough i might hit more often, but i crit 3 times less. My Crit Atk has gone from 180 down to 56, so believe when i say this, its very very noticeable.

You have to also remember that crits arent double damage, there like 3 times the amount of damage you would do normally, so reguardless of if i swing 20 times during a fight and hit 17 times, 9 of them being crits, your still going to be doing more damage then the guy who swings 20 times a fight, hits all 20 and 4 are crits, all hyperthectical numbers of course for the sake of conversation, but you get my drift.

Also one last question, why is lvl 3 Focus, doesnt matter if its from a PP or SE only give me 13 Crit Atk when using a 1 hand blunt compaired to 26 Crit Atk when i have a sword equipped?

Does anyone have a parser that i can obtain to test this theroy please? There must be a parser that operates with this game to monitor DPS. Id really like to test and see if the extra 5 accuracy really does pan out against 150 crit atk in reguards to DPS over a substantial amount of time, even over the short term, high crit atk can sway the direction of a PvP duel.

I'll post my findings also but before i do, id like to place a bet, and bet it doesnt ;).
>>i have noticed a reduction in my DPS
Blunts suck for pve (plain and simple - Suck). it was brought many, many, many times.. You'd be way better w/ sls*tsu or even kris/focus as long as you have at least one crit buff (like dw) or even VS. Having more than one crit buff (fire dance, kitty buffs, CoV, jewels, etc) heavily favors high crit rate weapons (dagger/bows), so heavily that almost any class is better using dagger...

>>there like 3 times the amount of damage you would do normally
No - for a dwarf they are STRICTLY 2 times. DW3 adds exactly as your normal dmg - thus 3 times. Dance of fire adds again the same. VS adds plain number of pattack (when used w/o skills), crit passive (daggers mainly) adds plain number as well, Kitty buff - one more fold. Like stated about --- it's all about Crit power buffs that make high crit chance weapons totally dominating. On theory daggers have better DPS than bows but due to range, seamless assist and all crit chance (not power) + amazingly IMBA draconic bows (only one low grade C dagger has better flat crit chance increase, only one, Low c grade!) are ahead.

There are so many ways to bump accuracy that aside PvP against archer/daggers blunts are useless.

In the end you'd have better DPS w/ dual or dagger or sword than w/ blunt (even meteor shower/focus [focus SA is flat, non-modified by buffs add-on])
There is basic crit rate for each type of weapon.
40 for blunts and fists
80 for swords and all unmentioned weapon types
120 for daggers, bows

Then the number is modified by your dexterity. Do you have more than 40 for your dwarf and your wife has more than 80. It's character base critical with that weapon.

Focus adds 20% / 25% / 30% off character base critical.

Song of Hunter adds 100% off character base critical.

Some other buffs will add fractions off your character base critical.

Also daggers have some critical chance passive that adds some.

--------------------

Critical power multiplies still, not adds up. That is, with Dance of Fire and DW3 you'll have 4,5 factor for critical hits.

In short, for PvE DPS critical rate >> all. Thus focus SA >> all if you are concerned about DPS.

Ok if Focus adds the way you say it does, are you talking about the buff or the SA, cause i still dont understand how a lvl 3 Focus buff from ethier a PP or SE is only giving my 13 when useing a 1 hand blunt and 26 when using a Sword.

Lets say your blunt weapons base crit is 40
Lets say your sword weapons base crit is 80
Focus 2 adds 25% base crit chance

40*.25 = 10
80*.25 = 20

Make sense now? It is a percentage not a numerical increase.
I use Fist with focus lvl 3 and my crit rate only goes up like 2. But when ur swinging at 1000 atk spd with 112 accuracy who needs it. So blunts get a low crit rate because they are accurate, and u get a stun skill with ur blunt u dont need to rely on on crits with a blunt to win, compared to some other class that get a hugh crit rate bonus , but they need the crit rate to survive.
You miss one piece of the puzzle. With blunt you get a stun attack - you don't get this stun attack with either 1H sword or 2H sword (at least not on a dwarf, don't know about other races).

IMHO the stun attack on blunt was intended to counterbalance the DPS advantage of swords that results from their superior crit attack rate.

This is a moot point, because the Knight classes get Shield stun that requires a shield to be worn to execute the Stun and it lands more often then our Blunt Stun does, i cannot express how dissapointed i am in my maxed out Hammer Crush that rarely lands compaired to a Knights shield stun that almost always lands plus they get the higher critical rate from having swords equipped.

Id still like to see if 5 accuracy is equal to having 150+ crit atk seeing this is how NCsoft seem to normalize it.

Does anyone know of a parser that works with this game to measure DPS?

search for "blunt" in the game suggestions forum

ive already gone over all the points of how blunts and stun is nerfed and some possible fixes
i also state my opinion that you would be better off pveing with a set of duels until at least S grade when you can get a 2 handed blunt
but then again the blunt sa's are so gimp if they ever have a focus set of S grade duels that would prolly be better :/
Focus SA adds flat bonus (listed in SA description) after all other critical calculations. That is, this bonus is not affected by buffs, dexterity or whatever.

Apparently no. There are cases when blunt is more effective. For example, when you fight deep red mobs without buffs. But such cases are far from general grind enviroment. In general, criticals are more promising than accuracy.

There's no one I've heard about. Final DPS directly depends on PDef of monster and moster weakness. Accuracy affection on DPS is unknown. Some formulas for PAtk are unknown as well.
NCSoft refused to provide somewhat complete game mechanics information since C2.

I disagree. It may be a moot point to the knight classes but not to the dwarf fighter class or the orc fighter/mystic classes. The ONLY way they can stun is with 1H / 2H blunts.

Now I am curious. I see many knight classes using AOBA (for the Health SA I presume). I haven't checked, but can you get a Health SA on a 1H sword? If not, then that is yet another reason for the blunts.

so blunts are better because they get health sa?
lawl
and yes you can get health on swords (C grade at least too lazy to check list)
