Compressed shots?

Anybody use these things? if not, why?
sure.....more expensive (added cost of rope), but added convenience of carrying more shots without going overweight.
Just curious, cause you almost never see it for sale...
Actually, there's a guy in my clan that is trying to find a C-SS greater compressed recipe for my dwarf. He wants me to make him a bunch so he can hunt for longer periods of time without returning to town. Apart from him, I don't know of anybody that uses them.

I think most dwarves won't learn those recipes because there are far better ones to learn.
Beyone the rope.. it takes 1100 SS to make a package of 1000 SS.

You lose 10% of the shots you compress. That stings a bit.

Biggie, didn't they change that? I could have sworn it's now even.

I use compressed shots for the same reason most folks do: weight. When I go hunting I'm planning on staying a while. On my SH sub I can carry about 12k bsps, some acu pots (or the 1hr scrolls if I was lucky) and live somewhere for a few days. My buffer is a mule that carries a few more supplies (cursed bones) as well as my drops as I'm hunting.

Compressed shots seem to work best for folks who solo the most, or duo a lot. Clans with lots of actives can rely on someone else having somme extra shots to trade so the group keep hunting. :)

I thought so too. I've been doing this for my Palus Knight since I can only carry about 5k shots at a time. I'll double-check tonight.

And make them stackable!!!

Yes, this is a problem, but not the main problem. The main problem is that the "sacks" of shot don't stack. A dwarf can only sell 4 at a time, then he must restock. Totally useless for an afk shop.

If I set down for a few hours I could make 100k shot to sell, and it would only fill one slot in my inventory. If I created 100 sacks, Iwould need 2-3 toons to hold it all.
another problem is the insanely high mp cost of compressing
not to mention the morons who sell compressed recs for 5x what an actuall ss recipie goes for
oh and did i mention craft slots? why would a ws wast a craft slot on something as useless as that

if you want more info search for "compressed" on the forums the crafters on the forums already explained the millions of reasons we dont make em
I never saw compressed shots for my WS as something to make money off of like selling plain ss. I saw it as an effective means to hunt for longer periods without the annoyance of running out of ss. When I go up to Toi10th I can hunt every week without worrying about the priest ports.

If anything, a clan WS with a greater compressed pkg available to the clan is an asset. You may need to educate folks on them since so many aren't even sure how they work. But after a few times with them hunting longer without restock, they'll thank you for it. Just have them buy their own rope. :)

For me and mine, it's been a great convenience - rope cost aside. When I set out to hit 75 I knew how many hours I'd have to spend hunting and I always had enough shots to last a long while. I was able to focus on one thing - getting my goal. I'm now 7x on my sub and plan to do the same tactic to reach 75 again for Noblesse.

Roll your own recharger.
SirE, did you check if compressed shots still take that 10% more?

Doh! No, I didn't but I don't think they do.

Greater Compressed Package of Soulshots: D-grade (1)

MP Cost: 90

(1000) Soulshot: D-grade [+]

(21) Soul Ore

(7) Crystal: D Grade

(26) Rope of Magic: D Grade
Okay cool! I know what I'm doing tonight.

Am I the only one who thinks that the cost in mats to compress the shots is stupidly expensive? (Especially for a mere 1K)

I totally agree.

I did this just this week, I had a dwarf registor a greatter compressed Dss for me. The problem is that it takes 1000 Dss and 26 robe magic: out of dion with 10% tax 26 rope is about 4k.

If this is supposed to be magic rope it should double the size of the shots being used. not just make them smaller and weigh less.

Thing is when I get to B grade as archer, I'm use a ton of shots!! 2 shots per pull, not to mention arrows that I need to carry.

The cost for compressed shots needs to be reduced by a lot, not just for the dwarf, but also for the cost of the items to do it with.

I feel sorry for any one **** this with S grade cause you have to get your rope from merchient.(A grade sells in towns now I beleive)

It's just over pirced meens for more conveince!
I never use them, if I really need shots I carry them on my dwarf or go to town, depending on where I am going.

I can understand why people who solo could find them useful sometimes, they are a moneywaster though unless you really need them
The crystals and ore are just subparts, not part of the actual recipe.

Greater Compressed Package of Blessed Spiritshots: D-grade (1)
MP Cost: 180

(1000) Blessed Spiritshot: D Grade
(125) Rope of Magic: D Grade

Greater Compressed Package of Soulshots: D-grade (1)
MP Cost: 90

(1000) Soulshot: D-grade
(26) Rope of Magic: D Grade

Magic Rope is 125 Adena at 5% tax

thats an extra cost of 15,625 adena for DBSpS or around 15-16 extra adena per shot.

for DSS its 3,250 adena extra. thats 3,25 extra cost per shot

Adds quite an expense to shot usage, but if you "play at the next level" or are just rich in general, its ok.
Duh? Like every recipe?
The way you listed them it looked like they were part of the actual recipe, which they aren't. So those two lines should just have been deleted.
I figured anyone that has crafted at least one recipe would be able to figure it out without having the painfully obvious stated to them. Yes, the crystals and ore are part of the compressed recipe. That's how it's listed on the official site.

I believe most people here are smart enough to figure this out.

OMG you mean I don't need both coarse bone powder AND animal bones to craft a recipe??? THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Yes, the crystals and ore are part of the compressed recipe.

No they aren't. And they're not listed as such on the official site or anywhere eles. They're listed as being the shots recipe. You can't make Compressed shots with just crystals and ore without making shots first.

So what you need are just shots and magic rope. While most people can make out what is part of the recipe and whats part of a subrecipe, you're just being lazy for postcounts.

I would've said you're doing the same thing. EVERYBODY knows how recipes work. You just wanted to boost your ego and postcount by trying to point out the painfully obvious.

Fine, you're smarted than someone that doesn't know how to craft. Gratz.
I doubt everyone copy pastes from the library. Even if someone does know, its a whole lot easier to read, then figuring out subrecipes of every recipe.

+1 for you.

Do you even know why I pasted the recipe? Doubtful.
Yes, to see if it takes 1000 or 1100. But this isn't your first paste recipe.

Goody for you. Are you this boring in person?
Whatever kid. *pads SirE on the head* Maybe its time you take a break and find another avatar or something.
I've got tons of avatars waiting. It takes precious little effort. Kind of like annoying you. I'll make a note to post more recipes.

man, you have been a total jerk this whole past week. Your post did look like the crystals and other mats were part of just making a compressed shot. Are you so self absorbed you cant admit that you messed up for once?
I am sure you do on both accounts, lol.

That's how the recipe is listed on the official site. That's how I save them in text files when I need to craft. Generally I start at the higher level items (like CBP, for example) but usually have a ton more animal bones in WH than CBP. Therefore, I need to know how many of the lowest level mats are necessary. I didn't "add" anything to the recipe I pasted. That's how it's listed. Check it out yourself.

As for being a jerk, I'm not the one name-calling (against the rules anyway) but I do remember you calling DM names not too long ago. Who's the jerk?
Compressed shots are extremely useful.

Yes, they are expensive. But they are worth it.

All you need to make compressed shots are the shots and the rope. But it takes a lot of rope, so it's costly.

The main issue is that there is no S-grade rope of magic available, so we can't compress S-grade shots yet.
Like I said, they can be useful for some people, it costs extra, but thats the price for extra shots. Usually I find the extra hazzle in making them being much more than the hazzle of going back to town for more shots or having your friendly dwarf carry some. But different strokes for different folks.

Adds quite an expense to shot usage, but if you "play at the next level" or are just rich in general, its ok.

Now come on LC, the part about "playing at the next level" was a bit much, imo.

If you personally don't like or see a good reason to use CompSS that's cool. But when folks start tossing about comments like this, well, it casts a pall over your argument. It goes from being a good argument to a whine. Again, just my opinion. ;) /hits LC with wet noodle

For some chars, compressed SS is not a good option. Price for rope is the main culprit. I was well out of D and C grade when they came along, so I started using them late in B-grade (I was in Bgrade until 75 btw).

On my BD main, compressed BSS was a benefit. Many of you know what it's like to get deep into a catacomb/necropolis or high into TOI, play for several hours in a party, then folks have to leave. Or some run out.

I could sell some of my SS to those party members to keep the party going. That kept our group together longer and we didn't have to leave a choice hunting area for something so stupid (no SS). :)

I'm fortunate to have three WS now in my clan (used to have 2) as well as 2 BHs. Affording supplies for compression is not a problem when you buy from Dwarf village, or your server has a town (Heine on Gustin) with 3% tax. No need to "play at the next level". Just be smart, plan ahead, and have a few pkgs in your wh for occassions that really warrant it.

At D grade I think it's only useful for soloers, but just barely. You can easily get to and from places in lower-level towns for hunting so just SOE back and restock. C grade is about the same unless your party goes to the dungeons a lot. Bgrade and A grade fighters would benefit most from compressed SS. You're making more money, hunting in tougher places.

Soloers benefit the most (mages and archers) but groups that need to risk their lives to get to a good hunting spot are a close second. :)
