I've been wondering about some underused SAs lately, and I wonder if anyone tested them.
Everyone knows how Acumen works, but what about Magic Power or Magic Damage (two SAs I'm considering instead of Acumen, and no, don't tell me to go Acumen cause it's better than all, I need a good explanation ;) )
So lets say we have that SoWD with Magic Power which adds that +99 m.atk at the end of equation.
My current m.atk without buffs is 547. Adding +99 on top of that makes it 646 right? That's almost 1/5th extra m.atk. Would it mean that if I'm dealing 1k dmg right now, I would be dealing about 1.2k dmg with Magic Power?
And Magic Damage, Branch of the Mother Tree adds power 8 roughly every 3rd spell. It's A so lets say someone level 75 is using it. At 75 main nuke's power is 108, so the SA would give a bit shy of 1/10th of the spell's power. Would that be 1/10th extra damage?
I guess main question is, how exactly is magic damage calculated. Is spell's power or m.atk giving more to the final result? Anyone has the equation and could post it here? that would really help.
Damage from M attack isnt linear.. its exponential.
So you double your M attack, you less than double your damage. Cast speed however is linear.. you double your cast speed, you half the amount of time it takes to cast.
With Magic Power, you end up using 15% more mp. I believe its a chance for the M attack increase and the MP use increase.. but Im not totally sure about this. For this mp loss to be worth it, that 99 M attack would have to increase your overall M attack by a lot more than 15% due to the exponential nature of M attack and Magical Damage.
Accumen allows you to more easily wear sets like doom, demon and NM while till keeping a decent cast speed. And these set bonuses affect your M attack much more than the other possible SAs out there.
ok. I get that one. What about magic power though? It doesn't increase mana cost, but instead of m.atk it has a chance to increase spell's power. Would that be of any significance?

No. The m.atk base on a weapon is modified in an equation in determining your end m.atk. The bonus from Magic Power is just added directly to your character's m.atk, meaning the bonus is very, very slight.
