If you're gonna make the game have hyperinflation, you can't have such small limits on the currency.
Example... Those Who Must Not be Named on Sieg have so many boss rings, they just dont know what to do with them. If they sell them, prices would fall, and they would be beaten.
So on sieg, they + them up to +5, destroying 3/4 of them, and sell them for near the 2B adena limit.
Clearly we need that limit raised, so they can destory almost all of them, and charge more. Think of the Children!
Inflation is WAY out of control, that 2B limit is starting to hit real players too. Ever try to sell anythign A/S grade over +10?
Hyperinflation is here, most things have 2-3x'd in the last 4 months. Better go 64bit ASAP.
LOL raise the limit. Hell I didn't event know there was a limit. Have never been over 300mil. Besides I think there are many more important things to fix in this game than a limit on adena that very few players will ever hit.
ummm, i'm not that big on economics, but wouldn't raising the adena cap theoretically increase prices? Players can hold more adena, more adena = less value per adena, more adena needed for an item. But if you like inflation you can get those people to make an alt :p
Make a second char? Wish I had a 2 billion adena problem.
that wont help when you are selling an item for 2.5b. Who is going to give in? Ill give you 2b, then log onto another character and give you another 500m, then you give me the item? What is making that person give the item after they have the 2b? Or, you give the item and wait for them to log in to give you the other 500m? What is going to make them do that?
The farmers on kain, they got billions on a lot of their characters. One of the regular mages that runs around, gets in pvps, they have over 1.5b on them alone. This isnt one of the 7 characters in town who probably have 2b each.
No, that would only cause issues if raising the limit somehow magically tripled everyone's existing adena...
What he means is, if im selling an item for 2b, max price I can hold, then they raise the limit to 3b for me to hold, why not increase the price of the item if it is already selling at 2b? Someone will surely pay another 250m. Once that item sells for the extra 250m, they will try higher until people dont buy.
Pretty much, if it is possible to pay more, they will charger more. In order to pay more, you need to be able to carry more. Once you can carry more, they will charge more.
I'm not saying this is a problem for lagit players. But I'm no longer conviced anyone else in L2 is lagit anymore. Newbies show up with 20-50m every day.
But after 2+ years even lagit players are getting there. A +11 S-grade on sieg is worth over 2B, or a +13 A-grade.
I'm not saying this is a problem for lagit players. But I'm no longer conviced anyone else in L2 is lagit anymore. Newbies show up with 20-50m every day.
If you don't believe that this is a problem for legit players, how can you possibly be in support of such a change?
Regardless, there's nothing preventing people from trading 2 billion adena and other high value items in a trade window rather than a private shop. Anyone who has that kind of cash and is not an adena farmer should have plenty of market goods on hand as well.
Fair enough. Well I can safely say that will never be an issue for me ever, I'm also on the Sovrath plan of "screw you guys I'm going home" at that point.
I didn't even bother reading all the posts cause this seems like a USELESS thing to complain about. You have 2 billion adena? Well hell, why you complaining? You got more money than most people.
word. I wish just once I could complain I have 2 much adena. Hey if someone needs room for more adena cuz there at the limit ill hold on to some for ya.
Isn't it possible to dump over 2 bil adena into your warehouse? OR at least 2 bil thats 2+2 or you can put cash on alt chars too if you're such a big ebayer or alliance leader.
word. I wish just once I could complain I have 2 much adena. Hey if someone needs room for more adena cuz there at the limit ill hold on to some for ya.
Well lets put it this way, I have more adena than I want atm. I got everything I want and no interest in alts. lol

No one is legit anymore eh? 70 lvls of grinding bishop, all 80m I worked for...guess im not legit eh? :p
Thats cool man. I hope to get to where buying stuff dont interest me. Since im a collector of armor sets I would enjoy that kind of wealth. I dont doubt anyone is legit unless I have some reason to believe there not. 2 billion is not impossible so i wont doubt your legit and dont mind nawe almost all there post are trying to call someone an ebayer. lol come to hindemith and give me money!! jk :)
Not enough adena removed from the sever means SS doesn't cost enough :P
And the 2 Billion limit issue doesn't relate to how much you can hold, it relates to how much you can exchange. You can't BUY a weapon for 2.2 B adena. If an item's value exceeds the maximum the game will allow...you begin to DECREASE the value of adena. This TRIGGERS inflation. Not just inflation, we're talking about the complete loss of value to adena. If currency cannot handle trade...things turn into a barter economy. Trust me, the last thing ANYONE wants is a barter economy. Currency is extremely important to economics on a server. Currency needs to retain value, and changing the maximum exchange does not change the value of that adena. This is essential to stabalizing the upper economy, or it will collapse and trickle down. First high levels will only barter gear...meaning they never spend adena in large quantities...meaning they stockpile at massive rates. As adena masses, low level gear will get MORE expensive, triggering more "you know what."
The only real way to bring the economy back under control is to increase the cost of shots. It won't happen. Too many people would be upset because they won't understand that adena has to be removed from the system. Currency is printed, currency has to be destroyed. Only NPC shops do this. Only soulshots/spiritshots are active on a large enough scale to slow inflation.
LOL raise the limit. Hell I didn't event know there was a limit. Have never been over 300mil. Besides I think there are many more important things to fix in this game than a limit on adena that very few players will ever hit.
I have thought of this problem before and there's a real fast solution. If you're trading for something worth more than 2 bil then the rest will have to be in gear worth millions. For example, some adena and A grade helms. Later it will be S grade. In the near future when the market gets saturated it may become a bartering economy. I'll take 2 of your S grade helms for that S grade weapon.

sigh too long post....man if I had that 2 billion.......I can equip my toon 10Xs over.....can u sponsor my A grade? I am lvl 66 and I am using only an elemental sword with no SA for over 4 lvls now.
You are 5 lvl's into A grade and your low A mage sword (not dasp staff which is normally cheaper) isn't good enough.
None of you noobs played beta did you? In prelude there were NO such sets in game. Brig helms/shields were as rare as an Anthras Earring is now. I work hard to make money on my dwarf, I have 2 A armor sets, 2 A weapons with SA, an A wep on the side, a +4 BOP, a +7 emi bow, PL set, Divine set, cry staff mana up, maj jewels +3 unsealed, a BO set, and a good 200 M+ lyin around aside from the mound of mats. I'm 73 and been here 2 years.
If you could afford A grade cheaper, I would just afford +7 A grade cheaper. Then you would whine you don't have +7 A grade. L2 does not let everyone have the same level of gear. It is ALWAYS possible to buy better gear. There is no end to it. What you have now isn't enough? What you will have if you cap prices or exchange rates won't be enough either. Nothing will be enough til you have everything that the best player has. That's just greed and it has nothing to do with an economy.
I played since OB but it still boggles my mind how anyone outside of a pro farmer could have 2 billion. Not saying it isn't possible, it's just omg to me still.
What goes for 2+ bill anyway? Last time I saw the Antharas earring was going for about 1 billion. Maybe a valakas necklace?
To be fair, there are players that are just casually interested in leveling and find it far more enjoyable to play the market for the majority of their gameplay rather than grind.
I do know someone who has a lvl 75 prophet having over 1 billion by trading...but then he was out of job for a long time and play non-stop......
I am 5 lvl into A grade and in between I tried my best to lvl other toons of mine to generate enough income to buy my A grade. Guess wad, I still dun have enough. Farmers with the help of the complacency or incompetant NA NCSoft(pardon me for this but then I cannot help it anymore) control market price.
For example, it was possible to buy sell AA/GHP/Greater Acumen and Greater Att Speed to earn a decent income. But now farmer fix AA 1:3 buying SS at 30/15-18/9 for red/green/blue. While AA price goes up, the overall market selling price for GHP/Greater Acu/haste is more or less the same. Tell me how can I earn a decent income playing abt 4 hrs?
With high fuel price, I cannot park my toon like I used to be and my electrical bill went up 20-30%.
And for ur info, I am not like you playing this game since Beta. I have only started when C2 begins. But then, life goes on whether with A or without A. I can live without it though having A grade items wil surely help.
B grade all the way to lvl 78.....but then seriously, not many pple like that idea dun they.
I had to LOL at this one. A properly run manor will far surpass the cost of keeping the castle. Ellie.. if your clan owns a castle and you seriously still consider it a sink, pm me.
2 Billion sounds like alot, but it really is not in todays economy.
Consider if you started like i did in OB. It took me about 3 months to make my first mil. After that, it was only a couple weeks until I had 3 mil. That was about 2 yrs ago. If I had gone to the trouble, I could easily have more than 2 bil now.
I'd say it is not impossible or unreasonable for someone to easily double the amount of capital that they have every 2 weeks.. maybe less.
There is a soft cap where it is tough to continue doubling up, because once you have a tremendous amount of money, you just can't easily invest it all. Currently, that amount is significantly more than 2 bil.
Well if you don't consider the cost of guards, traps, wall and door upgrades a sink I don't know what is. A sink doesn't mean there are no benefits (teleport fees are sinks) it just means money that is taken out of the economy that just disappears.

Traps = useless, low level guards = useless. You really have to dump all of 20 M tops to upgrade walls and place some elites. The castle, meanwhile, can turn over tons of cash each day, especially on Hindemith where the manors sell out every single day. Manors stabalize material prices as well. I can farm 100 mith alloy in a day with the manor system...and that's only 2 hrs probably.
It's VERY possible to have that kind of money. With a second account and thus two shops up all day, I can buy/sell/craft til my heart's content. The less cash I have on hand and the more spent turning over items the better. With 200 M, if somebody sells an A helmet cheaper than they should, I can afford to grab it and resell. I can grab OE weapons and turn them over as well. Many players are in a hurry to sell, and I can undercut market prices to meet their demand for speed. Then with patience and a lot of capital, I can make 100 M a week...a day even...with ease. Having cold hard cash is the key. Many players on Hinde have more than me.
I was scammed for almost everything just after C3 launch. Don't trust friends hehe. Well I got a full doom/damas/BO from a friend while he was on a vacation to europe. I got donations from friends in the form of mats and created an aoba/doom/BO set and sold it. A lot of ppl were ******, but I still had the free gear for 3 weeks. With the capital, I turned over a new weapon and a phoenix jewelry set. My clan aided in crafting DC hvy and raided for a helmet. I organized raids, including two Anthras raids, where my clan gave me a DLE (setting up two anthras raids is a lotta work :P). With 100 M in capital, I built up cash in NO time. Buying A crystals for 14k and reselling for 17k...buying bones or varnish cheap and turning them around. I've bought several DC leather sets as the price for the set is close to 48 M and the price of parts sealed is totally different (guess archers are lazy?). Weapon enchants through mammon net a 15% gain, AA sells for 3 but green stones sell for 10 and red for 19.
It's easy to make money if you just keep your eyes open. Granted, some days I spend 2 hours running around Giran. But I make a bunch. I also tend to hunt antelope outside Goddard because they are two or three hits for my gimpy tank. The exp/hr is only a little less than some other solo spots, and the antelope drop maj ring recs which hinde values at 500k-1 M. Making 2 or 3 M from soloing is sure helpful too.
And I play L2 casually! There are players on their 3rd subclass. I havent even gotten 75! Some are 78/78/5x. Of course they can make more money lol! If I have well over .5 B, those guys ought to have a lot lot more.
What costs 2 B? +6 S grade weapon w/ SA for draconic bow. With blessed enchants, that's not even that high.
To be fair, there are players that are just casually interested in leveling and find it far more enjoyable to play the market for the majority of their gameplay rather than grind.

Let's see Multiple Antharas raids, more than one account, constant 'playing the market', and oh yeah you've at least hit A grade.
Casual? You don't know the meaning of the word casual!
You may not 'grind' like those you think of as 'hardcore' but your every bit as 'non-casual' as they are.

Just a few hrs a day, with a few month breaks here and there. 5x chars are a joke. 12 hrs 1-60 these days. Even SirE is 60, he's as ordinary as they come.
I know ppl with 7x/7x toons with an alt 7x dwarf for crafting. They play 12 hrs a day, I play 10-30 hrs a week.
For whatever reasons, more and more money have been introduced into the economy. Events, unauthorized transactions have made it easy for some people to have large amounts of money.
You think it is a good thing people have a lot of money? It isn't. Money should equal goods, because in fact, money is used to ease barter of goods. When money begin to be more available than goods, that's called inflation. Inflation is not a good thing. Inflation mean that while you have more and more money, it is worth less and less. In history, some countries had so bad an inflation that people had to bring loads of cash to pay for the most simple things, like bread.
Of course, Lineage 2 economics are most simplified compared to real wolrd one, but some basic mechanisms are still present. While the reasons for inflation are different in the game and IRL, the phenomena still exist in both, and it is what you are currently experiencing.
So true the more adena available in game the more expensive items become. In reality nothing in this game should cost 2billion adena. Even a Bauim ring should not be as much as they are. The market values unfortunatley are not based on anything in the game. The NPC value is the only true value of items. But since the eceonomy is driven buy outside sources everyone has to buy and sell at those prices to survive. Unfortunatley there is so much adena in game right now that it is dirt cheap to buy. Which increases prices of items in game.
I know all this has been said many many times. But it is getting worse and worse. I wonder how much S grade will be when C6 comes out since buy then 90% of real players will be 75+. So I can see S grade items being 10x the cost they are now. Of course if it is like this I wont be anymore.
I'm at the point now im just waiting to see what C5 has to offer. If it doesn't imprive anything I dought I will continue to play this game and make the farmers even richer.
I think it was in C1 when I saw my first Doom Heavy for sale.. it was the first B grade I ever saw, and the guy wanted 20 mil for it. At the time, I was going [censored], 20 MIL!!!! Nobody has 20 mil.. that's just crazy talk. I think I had about 1 mil in working capital at the time.
These days, I usually have something like 50 mil in walking around money, you know, in case I spot a deal. It's the same ratio pretty much.. top end items are still going for about 20 times what I have.
All that has changed are the numbers.
It gives the illusion that it is unattainable, but as Sith pointed out above, in todays market, it's pretty easy to buy/sell and make a few mil off of just one item.
With the way the market is now, an actual new player is going to have way way more money than I did when I was new. Just selling his bones and varnish will easily buy him top NG, and Top D is all over the place.
I don't want to make it sound like one of those "back in my day we walked 28 miles in the snow, uphill..." threads, but the fact is that the economy is very hot these days. It's a matter of paying attention and working it.
There is one stabilizing force in the game, at least for C grade. NPC shops and prestige shop in Giran offer a way to keep the machine oiled.
With how much I am currently working in the real world I do not have much time to play. So I just leave my AFK store to sell my wares. I am a C grade arms trader. While I do not make as much as some, I am still slowly building my net worth. At current crystal prices on Teon (C2800 D630) I can make an dark screamer or any 1720Ccrys worth weapon for about 6,396,250. I will sell for 7,396250 making a nice profit of 1M. This is lower then the prices some are trying get out of the market charging 8M for such a weapon. Turn around is slow.
Even with inflation you could still crush a few Demon's Fangs for your D crystals and bust a Homun Sword by OE(which ironicly or by design leaves you with 1085 C crystals which is the requirement(1075Ccrystals+5375Dcrystals) to make more C grade prestige items. The only thing that would affect this would be taxes on the D grade items to crush.
On Teon either by design, poor organisation, or oblivious no one has gotten the Seal of Strife for the Lords of Dawn. Thus keeping the tax level down from insane levels.
I am no where near A grade. Just a 52nd level SH making a few adena on the side while my grind time is limited.(I also am trying to do OE, to get a better weapon so my grind is a lil less painful, with my profits)
So true the more adena available in game the more expensive items become. In reality nothing in this game should cost 2billion adena. Even a Bauim ring should not be as much as they are.
What?! Why not? Every single player wants boss jewelry and it drops at best once / kill / week. Things like Anthras earring should be the max adena transferable. They are, as stated earlier, priceless. Frankly you shouldn't be able to BUY boss jewelry. It should be so expensive that it's untouchable by ANYONE except those who actually go raid it. That's the idea truly, not to gather 200 M and buy boss jewels. Hell no, this is a unique item for select few in select clans on servers. It sounds to me like you just want full S grade +3 and boss jewels to be happy. Get over it. I don't have it either.
1 earring per week times 4 weeks equals (4). 4 earrings dont make them priceless, that is better drop rates then most anything else...ohh not to mention all the gear that drops, so go on with your "pricelss" crap cause they aren't and Shouldn't be.
dragonic bow for 800mil... enchant that to +4 and you got a nasty price for some reason. (specially at 25mil a shot for normal EW S .... don't even thinkabout the price for B EW S.)
manage +6 and you get a hefty price... manage +7 and that sudden flame effect for some reason instantly provides an additional billion adena value...

meh I have made a bit over 600m in the past six months...so 2b in two years should be fairly easy. But keep in mind the rate at which I can make money scales up considerably the more money I have. E.G. Took me along time to hit 100m mark, but then the next 200m took very little time. Have to have money to make money. Did it playing the market/not farming anything.

The real drop rate is 1/4. And you need to multiply by the number of spawns of other mobs to compare. I'm fine with boss jewels being bound once equipped maybe. I've run a solid 100 raids, 2 on Anthras; anyone who wants to buy their jewels can cry to somebody else. If you aren't a noble looking for bigger and better things to do, you shouldn't be crying about boss jewelry. The people that put in the time get better gear than you, get over it.
This post comes at a great time!
I'm just ready to announce "FirstBank of Drakkos" for Lionna folks with a billion Adena or more.
Just pm me in game and I'll hold onto all that troublesome adena clogging up your warehouse.
Think of it as a public service (particularly as I'm not gonna be able to pay interest like a real bank would) that I'm willing to offer out of the goodness of my heart. :)

LOL no I'm not even close to S grade still a long way to go. Yes just like anything S grade or above boss jewels should be super rare and insanley high price. But that is unfortunatley not what we have. We just have the insanley high price. So unless you buy the adena have a huge revinue from castles or such, or are part of the SACU you cant afford it. It's not rare they are everywhere.
Here is what we have on Devianne. At any given time you can go through Giran and the same 4 SACU members have boss jewels. The top alliances on our server have a majority of thier players outfitted with boss jewels for thier lvl. So in reality with the businesses that control the raid bosses and economies there is not such thing as rare for any item in this game. The people I am talking about have WH full of these items and sell them for supper high prices. Not because they are rare but because they are the only ones getting them so they can control how many get out into the market.
I agree with you that they should be rare and cost alot. But I don't agree with paying someone elses mortgage or new car from buying this stuff. Unfortunatley too many people don't care about that and just want to be at the top with all the best pretty toys.
I am going on 2 months at lvl 65. Since I finaly decided to get my DC set I have spent 90% of the last 2 months setting in giran buying and selling to afford to buy it. When I started a full DC set would cost about 265mil because of the 200mil helm. Now the helm is a little cheaper between 175-200mil but the rest of the set will cost you 105mil to buy now. Why did the price got up for these items? I don't know.
The game design of items being rare is a great design but it's just sad that it has been destroyed buy SACU.
I know of about 10 S armor sets on non bot/ebay players that are frequently worn. That's entirely rare and expensive. Changing the 2 B adena limit won't change ebayers or real players from gaining items. It just prevents bartering from becoming the precident.
Sorry have better things to do with my money, only have like 300m in actual cash now anyway. Rest is in a Gear for main, and a few alts ranging from B-C grade. And if ever I don't know what to do with my money I will return to OE'ing.
