Like the title says, Is it really worth it as far as P.Def and M.Def to Overenchant A grade Jewelry and Armor?
If it is, what would be a good overenchant number to get too for an ironclad defence (+5 ,+6 or more)? I am looking for a minimum here. Obviously +10 should do it, but I am looking for a reasonable number here.
Jewelry it is a big deal because values on jewels are so small. the +6 thing for armor was in the Korean patch notes but the rumors of it's effects haven't been that inspiring.
I made a set of +5 adamantite, and it's rings had more mdef than sealed majestic, I didn't check unsealed.
Rings and earrings are much lower mdef but still benefit the same amount from enchanting.
For example adamantite ring has 34 mdef, sealed majestic has 40.
Adamantite necklace has 68 mdef, sealed majestic has 80.
You only need to get 6 more mdef on the ring to outclass sealed majestic, but 12 more on the necklace. This is why I've started oe'ing lower rings/earrings while focusing on just getting a high grade necklace.
The reason I chose to OE adamantite was because it has a measly 2-4 less mdef than black ore, while being a whole lot cheaper because not many use it.
Imo = No...not only does it costs tons of money, it only gives 1-2 pdef or mdef more per overenchant, I tried it on...I never really felt any difference in taking hits, not with a mage, not with a fighter (melee-ranged-heavy-light).
I OE everything b/c I can afford it and I like the statistics on it. However OE without being certain it will succeed is something I really stopped doing because of the massive failrate. Even if it does say it's f.ex 60-70% that can't be true. OE weapons, lol what a joke - even worse.
As some have said here already...I don't think OE is worth the risk you run into when going past +3.
It doesn't give you that much more and honestly it is indeed more about show off (prestige) then anything else. I have had my +3 on armor and jewelry to 'SEE' what it was worth...And basically I don't feel any difference.
So unless you can afford to blow up to crystals your gear ^^ I'd say don't :)
Well.. Considering that a +5 BO earring has 1 more mdef than a Majestic Earring, and costs what? 5 times less? Id say it's worth it..
The risk of breaking the stuff while trying to get it to those +++ regions and the cost of all the mats you needed to craft them and redo it all doesn't make up...Sorry but if you see the Tons of animal bones alone and the cost price those have..I find it wasted.
Now you all know how the duelists feel. No SAs on dualies for us. ><
Maybe NC should add a chance to blow all weapons when adding an SA. +4? Meh.
I think someone missed Blessed Enchants ?
It costs less to get your weapons + you dont have to pay for the actual SA, so I think that's pretty fair. :p

As long as it doesn't fail. It could end up costing more...

It also hurst seeing your A grade weapon craft going foop and getting nothing back, at least you still get crystals or your +0 weapon :p

That is true. If I blow up my duals I'll throw crystals at you.
The problem with enchanting armor and jewelry is that you would have to make it to +6 or higher before you noticed any real difference in the amount of damage that you take. For some it's worth it. For others, it's pointless.
As for weapons, I would very much be in favor of all weapons getting SA's after enchanting to only +4 or more. In my experience it is easier and faster to enchant to +4 than it is to level an SA crystal.
Even with the +4 requirement, I still think dual wielders have it easy, especially when you consider that SA crystals break, too, and you need to go higher and higher levels -- and may need to fight an Uber-OMG-Boss-Of-All-Boss Raid Boss -- in order to get an 11/12/13 SA crystal. But even at S grade, a dual need only enchant to +4 in order to get dual SA's.
I propose a bit more of an adventure for dual wielders. Why not make it +4 for the SA at C and B grade, but +5 at A and S grade in order to get the SA?
<--- Over enchanter. Yesterday I sold a +6 bonebreaker a +5 Light crossbow and a +5 sol..Blew up 1 set of 107's. This morning I set up shop for another +5 els I had left over. People love to buy the glowing weapons. Its a good and risky business. Where the losses are bad and the victories are insanely profitable. I made my 4 day weekend all about OE. Anyone on Hindemith needs something OE'd or looking for an Oe'd weapon look Nooman up I just might have it. But right now Im only working in D grade will probably move on to C grade in a week or so and so on. Its fun business. :)

It is a risky business, but fun. When you move on to C grade , concentrate on 1720 C crystal weapons, Emi and duals. When you move on to B grade, narrow down to just BOPs and Duals. You'd be surprised at how quickly +4 and +5 of these sell. When you get to A grade, be careful of SOM's. Know quite a few that have gone out of business trying to enchant them just to +4. LOL
Finally if you are like the rest of us and belong to Overenchanters Anonymous, keep your weekly meeting appointments. Otherwise you'll wind up enchanting a +16 weapon that you can't sell. :D :D :D
