Blessed Spirit Shots - please explain

I might be being a complete noob here - or blonde (don't be insulted I am blonde).

I have a great sword which according to its stats uses 1x soul shot and 1 x spirit shot.

Bought my BSS which it consumes, bought BBSPS - uses none!

Can you only use normal spirit shots with weapons? Am I being totally stupid and doing something really wrong?

I thought that if I used my sword skills it would also need the spirit shots.

MMMMM don't understand
Blessed Spirit Shots are only used for magical attacks. Skills are classified either as Active Skills or Magic, and should be labeled as such directly under the skill name in your skills menu. Sword skills fall under the Active Skills category, so they use regular soulshots.

Just out of curiosity... how are you using B-grade equipment and not know this?

B-grade and you haven't come across this before? Umm.... yeah right...

Edit: **** Johis beat me to it by 1 min :D
Sorry I'm not being very clear. I know what Spirit shots are for because I have an SE but thanks for the explaination anyway! What I don't understand is why my sword has them listed in its info when I don't need them.

I hit things with it (orc) and don't use magic attacks. What I'm asking is what is the point.

And before you all start on me again - I haven't researched every class skill so I don't know if any of them can use some form of magic attack and sword therefore needing the shots.

All I want clarifying is why my sword lists spirit shot use if it doesn't use them.

I've never bought spirit shots for my weps before for that reason.
try using it on your SE instead, every weapon can be used to cast w/. Clear?
Yes thank you, that's all I wanted to know :)
All weapons list both the spiritshots and the soulshots because you can use them for a physical attack (which would consume the soulshots or a magical attack which would consume the spiritshots).

For most of my pre-40 leveling on my cleric I used a Tarbar. It was what I had and it worked.
Thanks Jute.

I was only unsure because I have an orc and SE, both which have very different skills. As I've never actually seen and SE weilding a Great Sword it didn't cross my mind (blonde!!!) that magic casters would use it for that purpose, same as a staff which she has.

Explanation appreciated. I'm just being catagory inclined which is silly really - Orc = big swords, SE = Staff, Dwarf = various. Wrong of me I know. :)

Actually, I can see how a person would be confused about this.
When I first got this game I saw the same thing. Loaded up Sould shots and tried to cast a spell (as the weapon clearly indicated that it could use them) and nothing happened.

So I figured it was either a bug or mistake and never looked back.

It wasn't until recently that someone posted about a shilen Knight and was given the advice to use both shots with an explanation as to why.

I always use both on my AW. Always.
