My name ingame is PoulKrebs and I play on Teon.. I started here fairly recently along with my cousin whose ingame name is Hostile. He has played on Bartz a long time and has introduced me to the game.
Being new to the game there are still many thing we have yet to learn, but luckily we have some friends ( both high and low level ) to teach us the ropes.
Today I was in Dwarfen village to speak with someone whom I´ve been writing a bit on this very forum. We met at the gatekeeper and started talking. During our time here, we have been blessed with a few aquantenses and talked with some people.
While I am talking at the gk, someone comes up to me and say "POUL"... I respond with a vague "hi" because the name doesnt sound familier at all.
"your hostiles cousin arent you ?"
That being the truth, I reply "Why yes I am" getting a bit courious about where this conversation is going, I await the next reply.
"He´s our hero here" the person replies, and moves on..
Being a little pussled I continue the conversation with my friend. The talk is going, when suddenly a new dwarf comes up.. He approches when I mention Hostile in the conversation. Then he comes up and askes if I know Hostile. Now I am getting intriuged..
At the same time I am speaking with Hostile on Vent, and tell him that now two people have come up and have known him. As bewildered as I we both laugh in amusement.
"Yes I do" I reply, even more eager to learn what exactly is going on. Perhaps they are new alts to some people Hostile knows from the clan he is going to join, I think.
"All dwarfs know Hostile", the dwarf says. "He won". Then the dwarf moves on. Being even more bewildered now I tell Hostile what the dwarf said, and we both laugh.. Not one of us knows what is happening.
The real purpose of my visit continues as we uphold the initial conversation, until once again we are desturbed.
Yet another little dwarf runs up and starts speaking when Hostile is mentioned. This time the dwarf talks about Hostile how won. Mentions Mithril mines and a statue. Hostile is now so intriuged that he departs from his chosen huntingground. He wants to see what is going on. While teleporting we laugh and joke about his new-found celebrity and make guesses to what could be the cause.
I tell the dwarf that Hostile is coming here soon and she is very exited and speak sbout the hero and the contest. Then she too, departs.
I shout !To everyone who knows Hostile, he says hi
The primary conversations ends but I stay around and wait for my dear cousin.. We have some detective work ahead of us, I think.
My shout attracts a little chinese speaking dwarf. She doesnt speak a word english, but recognises the name "Hostile".
Now.. my chinese vocabulary is somewhat limited.. so, despite the best of her efforts, the only words we get across is Hostile and ^^.
Behold, the mighty Hostile arrives.. The little farmer suddenly looks very happy and though Hostiles chinese vocabulary is bigger than mine, the phrases "wo ai ni" and "xi xi" lead us to follow her..
The run from dwarven village to the mines is long enough, but our new companion ran an even longer way, up north of the mines and guided us. Our newfound friend tried with various chinese sentences to let us know what the goal of our journey was, but without a interpritor nearby, we were still very puzzled. Then the word "Google translator" let us know that a little friend found an ingenious solution to our problem. Conversation, though being restricted to one or two word sentences made us understand eachother a bit better..
The journey took us across streams. over hills and across roads until we were closing in on our destination. We had learned that we were going to thev very heart of the mithril mines.. "Statue" was our goal.
A long journey made, and a long journey ahead of us we enter the mines. All the while protecting our little guide we go deeper and deeper into the mine. To the best of our efforts the little one still gets killed twice, but her spirit is still jolly after getting rezzed and continues to guide us.
"Bug" she says and shows us to jump down a certain place to skip alot of the way. "Farmer use" she says, and so do we.
While we are still communicating on vent and talking about wtat all this fuss is about, and comtemplate if we are being set up for an elaborate pk. A friend joins our channel, as he usually does, and ask what we are doing.
We explain about Hostiles newly-found celebrity, the words statue, and our voyage deep into the mines.. He laughs a bit, and then goes quiet.
"YOURE [censored] ME" he shouts
Now we are completely lost, and no clue about what is going on.. "YOURE LYING.. [censored] YOU. YOURE JOKING" and then he frantically explains that once a year the gms put up a statue of someone from the game, and if the person whom it resembles find it, hidden away in a secret, secluded area, he is givin a great gift of tremendous wealth. Him banging the table and yelling curses at us, we are now hastily reaching the point of our long journey.. We enter the heart of the mines..
"We´re here" we tell him and he goes ballistic.. He explains, loudly, while banging the table and swearing, that the person last year didnt find it, but the person the year before got so much money that it was insane. The contest is never spoken about on any forums ect, due to its secresy.
Hidden behind a pillar, guided by our farmerfriend, we then see it.

The statue
A statue is standing there with the name "StatueOfHostile" above his head.
We go to it with a mix of excitement, confusion and amusement.
Then it begins to speak
"Dear Hostile"
"You have travelled the world"
"and passes many roads"
"the way to victory"
"and success"
"is in"

The ventchannel bursts into laugher, and as our minds comprehend what has just happen.. we are all laughing our [censored] of...
OnniJohn had set us up from the first character that came to me while I was having a conversation. He had created lowbie toons with whom he had communicated with me in town. He had made the little farmer to guide us.. He had created a char and called it "StatueOfHostile" and placed it while the farmer detoured us to the mines. He had succesfully orchestrated the entire thing and left us utter bewildered, surprised and thoroughly entertained.. The timing was absoluty perfect from step 1 in his planning and execution of the scene...
So to everyone... Be warned .. A new breed of scammer has arisen.. The Comedy Scam has been created and perfected.. and will probably be used alot in the near future 8)
