In yet another one of Jute's harebrained ideas I am trying to put together some instructional replays. This idea all came about when I was trying to explain to someone about how to do the mob gathering for polearms and how to position yourself.
I'm just a beginner with the polearm, but I really found that I couldn't explain it as well as I thought I could show it. Soooo I created a replay of my little dwarf gathering mobs in Necropolis of Sacrifice.
I have a couple of questions.
First, will this be useful?
Second, what can I personally do to improve my technique?
Third, what more should I show in this replay? It misses some vital things like how I choose which mob to actually hit, so I don't think I can show everything.
And lastly, what other things would be good to show this way? There are a ton of PvP videos so someone else can show that, but would people find it instructional on ...for instance how to body pull mobs or other such things.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.
Oh..you can find the replay on my site under the Lineage II Replays and Screenshots section.
I've found Polearms are best used when you have a healer with you because even if you CAN take out several Mobs at once, your still going to get smacked left and right by whats attacking you. I dont know if you want to add that into a replay or something, but its something to keep in mind. Had a level 40-something Warlord a while ago. :)
Other than that there really isn't anything to know about polearms aside from atract 2-4 mobs and than start swinging. Make sure you show the skills though. Other than that I dunno....
Another way to pole is to have a high level tank hate aura the mobs. If the tank is high enough their evasion will be able to avoid nearly all damage for a whole room.
An out of party C/B grade knight has no problem tanking for a D grade poler. The poler doesn't even need good armor (my friend was wearing robes). Having the poler hit the mobs from behind (opposite side from tanker) will give you a critical bonus and also increase accuracy I believe.
One thing about poling is making the mobs bunch up for those classes hit with the AOE nerf. Pulling to a corner or a pillar seems to do the trick. Other then that you need to jiggle a step in one direction to make a stray mob bunch up with others.
Wish i had replays .. I stopped all pole business after Dusk won on our server :(
Instructional replays sound like a pretty good idea, there are a lot of things that are better explained through actions rather than text.
Since you can't show things like what you're doing in the menus and what mobs you're targetting, you could give chat based instructions throughout the video instead. A short text based introduction at the beginning of the film saying what exactly you're trying to demonstrate might be helpful too.
I have no idea if even half the fishing stuff would actually show up in a replay, but if it does I think fishing lessons would be quite useful. For some of the more asked about Quests, you could even do an entire video of start to finish, using chat to fill in the player on what quest items are dropping and what you're doing at each NPC. For longer quests you could fade out upon arriving at mobs the player is going to need to hunt, leaving with a message indicating that this is the mob the player is looking for. Then you could pick it back up at the same spot with all the quest items in your inventory and continue with the rest of the video.
Just some ideas anyway, good luck with this in any case.
