What is the FORMULA for BASIC STATS?

I have learned all Basic Characteristics by heart already =)
Still I can not figure out what is the formula to calculate P and M atacks.
What I mean is how does M./P. Atack of a character depends on the weapon he carries? Is there a formula? There gotta be one!

For example:
I took a PlainsWalker lvl 39
His M. Atack is 7 without any weapon
I give him None Grade dagger (he was born with) with M. Atack = 6.
His M. Atack now =5 !!! LOWER THAN IT WAS WITHOUT ANY WEAPON!!!

I don't understand that at all. Does it mean that if you use lower grade weapons your M. Atack gets penalties? Or what?
I don't know about a penilty, but thats one reason why I stress to get a higher weapon.

I used a SoES on my mage (a long time ago), and then swiched weapons and got better stats, two handed staffs inherently have lower stats, IE: crt is alot lower compared to sword. (staff = 40 crt, while sword = 80 crt)

IDK if the grade had a effect on why your M atk went lower.
But the higher the grade you use the better off you are... Homu only goes for so long even if it's +12 for a nuker.

After a while you'd have a increased atk failed while lvling, even in PvP. cause the grade is lower then the area & mobs your on. (I'm not good at math so I'm not get into that, sorry)
my friend has a +16 homu...it has more matk than a +3 Sgrade weapon :O

There you go, it takes up it all.

Example: http://l2p.bravehost.com/matk.html

Weapon M.atk if you got no Weapoon the M.atk on your weapon is basicly 6, anyhow all math si there at least for P.atk, M.atk and stuff like that, only HP, MP, CP is not correct yet.

From what I have figured out so far your friend will have problems with his C-grade weapon after he reaches lvl 61. He will have atack fails more often then if he used B or A grade weapon.
Also, I suspect that the following...
M-atack will be less with each grade even if the weapon with enchants of a lower grade has same characteristics as the one without enchants of a higher grade.

I would like to know if someone knows more about the FORMULA how it's calculated.
Thank you!
The grade of weapon has absolutely no effect whatsoever (got it, NONE!) on your stats, spell failure, etc etc.

A D grade weapon with, say 100 M.atk, will give you exactly the same result as a B grade (or any other grade) weapon that also has 100 M.atk.

The reason equipping your noob dagger actually decreased your M.Atk is that your fists (i.e. when you arent holding a weapon) have an inherent M.Atk and P.Atk (I believe its 6 M.atk). If you then equip a weapon with a LOWER value than your fists' inherent value, then your total value will decrease.

A dagger is a P.Atk focused weapon and has poor M.Atk. Hence your P.Atk would have risen slightly when you equipped the noob dagger. But your M.Atk would have fallen. The opposite would occur if you equipped a noob mage weapon.

A good example of this is the Chrono weapons. Hit someone with one of them, note the damage you do. Then hit with your bare fists. Your bare fists will do more damage,* as they have an inherent P.Atk value greater than 1...but your Chrono has only 1 P.Atk and 1 M.Atk.

*This does not always apply if your class has a weapon mastery in the particular Chrono type - e.g. dual fist mastery while using the Chrono Unitus. This is because weapon masteries add P.Atk when you use that type of weapon, above and beyond the base P.Atk of the weapon. If you have general 'weapon mastery' (like mages do), your fists are actually given a boost too. A high level fighter with a specific weapon mastery who hits a target with his fists for say, 3 damage, will be surprised when an equal level mystic hits for 9 or 10 damage. The reason is the mystic has generic 'weapon mastery' passive.
Hope you are right.
Cimexus, you play a nuker, so how are you sure that the Grade has no impact on the failure rate?

PS: Tilla, failure rate is not a worry for any class that is played actively with nukers at level 61+. :p
Failure rate is still a worry and can happen, but thats more a formula of level difference as far as I recall.

But anyway, weapon grade has no effect on its own on failure rate of spells. However C-grade weapons do not get a PvP bonus like A and S grade does.

The grade of weapon has absolutely no effect whatsoever (got it, NONE!) on your stats, spell failure, etc etc.

Not entirely true. If the grade is beyond your mastery level, spell failures are greatly increased. Additionally, A-grade and S-grade weapons with an SA have increased PVP damage. I believe it's 5% for A-grade and 10% for S-grade, but not entirely sure. Any who know feel free to correct me.
I'm asking again, out of sincere interest, for the source of grade having no effect on success rates.

I can't go by my regular level experience, because I'd already heard from Alpha that he noticed a significant advantage of the SF dirk by itself over a mystic's knife with empower (which is roughly equivalent in MAtk), so I'm sure whenever I was keeping track (my comparison is demon set & +5INT with SF dirk vs. *7 Duals in avadon with no +INT, but I'm not sure on the MAtk values), I might or might not have been seeing things.

What's definitely true is that grade is, IF it matters, a relatively minor factor.

The order I've felt was important to failure rates is
1. Level Skill was Learned at vs Monster Level
2. Level of Caster vs. Monster Level
3. Surrender status
4. MAtk (Bumped up to 1st due to being quadrupled by BSpS - the failure check appears to take this as a linear factor)

I'm not sure how grade plays into it, or at what importance - I thought I failed less with Lloth's duals, but I honestly couldn't say for sure, and don't know of any conclusive testing on the subject.

From my experience I think the skill level is a BIG number 1 for spell failure followed by spell type/status and Matk. Magic type (i.e. dark, holy etc) definitely does play some role. As an example, when I fight Fang of Splendor (I am 4 levels higher than the mob in question) I fail considerably more often with Vampiric Claw than with Hurricane. I use BSpS on both, and both are the same skill level.

Here is my ranking, based on yours:

1. Level Skill was Learned at vs Monster Level
2. Magic type & surrender status
3. MAtk

By putting Matk at the third slot doesn't imply it is unimportant. I just think it is more like a "switch". That is, if Matk is high enough it doesn't play a role in spell failure, if it is too low it will. This I will check tonight by unequipping my weapon and seeing if spell failures occur any more often.
Buy some normal shots for your grade (i.e. non-blessed), that will cut your MAtk in half nicely and probably show an effect.

The caster level vs. the monster level is highly relevant (as an ES, I could immediately notice the difference between a high and low white mob when I was hunting), but it doesn't appear to be as noticable when the skill is up to date. Maybe the two level gaps are connected somehow, so that what appears as a major issue to summoners becomes a minor factor for regular nukers.

But for example: A level 75 prophet has no problem landing windstrikes on a cave servant - a level 50 prophet does.
