Better Business Bureau

Good grief, bureau is a hard word to spell....

Anyway, I always find it quite interesting to see a business' standing in the BBB. Their system makes it easy for the consumer to be heard, and allows the consumer to make an informed decision before dealing with a business.

So I decided to look up NCsoft NA (http://www.centraltx.bbb.org/commonreport.html?bid=58760) (based in Austin, TX). Then on a whim I decided to look up Blizzard (http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Business/CompanyReportPage_Expository.aspx?CompanyID=130506 68). It led to some very interesting findings.

Always check with the BBB!
Wow, NCSoft doesn't have very many complaints. Blizzard has tons.

Sorta in proportion to thier NA client base. :)

Well, as much as people complain here, it surprises me there aren't more.

I worked for a company that was BBB associated. It was a crock. To stay on their "good side" all you had to do was respond to a complaint. You didn't have to fix it. You didn't have to make the customer happy. Just repond to the BBB.

But NCSoft has an "unsatisfactory" rating and Blizzard's is very high (BBB) if I am reading that correctly. Having a very high rating in light of many complaints surely has to be miles better than an unsatisfactory rating for such a low number of complaints.

Read my post above. To get an Unsatisfactory rating all a company has to do is not respond to 2 complaints. That's it. It's worthless. I'd guess that Blizzard has at least 1 full time person doing nothing but writing letters to the BBB.
I agree with SirE, BBB is a waste of space. The company I work for we have had to respond to customer complaints. One in particular would not stop. We responded 6 times easily could be considered the best customer service for a disgruntled customer. We finally just gave up, he kept responding with the same argument over and over and we kept responding with thought provoking detail, why he was wrong. BBB doesn't care what the letters say, just that something gets sent back otherwise you get a tally mark next to your name. It's a huge waste of time.
