I bought L2 just yesterday ( and am enjoying it so far) but am also being massively frustrated, in that having bought it online the documentation is non-existant. Simple tasks are the most bothersome!

When the little tutorial hints pop up they are very handy, until you need em again. Can they be reviewed?( the little tutorial book in the inventory is somewhat limited)

You have to have something that they will exchange with you. So they wont take the n00bie gear you were issued. You have to get something and then exhange that with them. I only have a lvl 11 toon on a server enjoying the n00bie benifits, so I have not had much experience with the exchange system. There could possibly be a lvl that neeeds to be reached in order for them to exhchange more ietems with you. at lvl 8 he would only trade me pants, at lvl 11 there were several other items that he would trade me.

Yes! Trading with others can be done by clicking the action for trade... it's two hands shaking with eachother. Its om the same tab that has sit/stand party invites and such. Be warned that there are many scams. take your time when trading and if a window is accidently cancelled and re-opened for trade make sure you double check everything put into the window.

Each town has a nebie hepler. See them and ask them where the NPC you need is. As long as you have your quest log closed he will put a compass on your head to point the way.
To 'exchange' equip you first need some gear to exchange. The basic equip that every character starts with will not work. You will need to at least buy the cheapest equip from the store, or get something as a drop. (Magic rings, leather shields and a few other newbie items drop pretty easy but don't count on them doing so.)
Once you have some equip you need to put this item in your inventory. THIS IS IMPORTANT! You must NOT be wearing the items you wish to exchange. They must be in your general inventory. Then all you have to do is go to a shop and click the 'exchange' link to see everything that you can upgrade.
There is no minimum level limit on exchanging, so long as your character has the 'newbie benefits'. Once you outlevel the newbie status they are gone for ever on this server. This means you can 'exhange' an unlimited number of items of whatever type you wish, provided you have the cash, the newbie bonuses and the item in your general inventory.
Abuse it while you can.
PS - after 'exchanging' an item it is best to exit and re-enter the exchange screen to reset the items listing. Assuming you want to check the next upgrade amount or exchange another item.

Sure, there will be always jerks who think they are funny by saying dumb things. Ignore them, there are your time not worth.
But there is a big someone is around that is willing to help and answer tiyr questions.... Bonus to this: You made a new in game contact :P
Unfortunatly in the noobie areas players such as jhjhjhjj, Hdfgfg, and Frfrrfw34 will not be willing or able to answer any questions you have. Sometime an actual player will be around to help. Once you get to Gludin there should, more often than not, be someone around to help you out.
