Well one of my former clan mates decidet to join a BIG clan/ally on Teon.
Now he tells me that when he gets to lvl61 that clan will provide him with full A-grade armor set + weapons FREE OF CHARGE???
Can that really be true? if a clan does that they must really have a trillion adena ?
It's quite possible for a powerful clan to do that. I believe there's a 2 billion per person adena limit, but there are people around that have reached that limit. If they have everything they need including boss jewelry, the only thing left to spend adena on would be overenchanting and fellow clanmates.
Personally, I would be wary as to how legitimate a clan such as that is.
Also your friend should realize, that he will be equipped, but the items will not be his. If he would ever leave the clan for whatever reason, he'd better give back anything he ever got from the clan, or he would likely be KOS until he is lvl 4 again.
Getting equipped sounds nice on first glance, but I personally prefer my very own stuff, that is completely mine.
I got fully equipped in C and B grade gear, and my clan helped me sooooo much for my A grade, and we arn't a big clan, just smart players that have accumulated alot of gear so it wasn't a big deal at the time. And yes, you'd better not think of taking it unless you're going to re-roll cause you will be De-leveled to 4...and just think of is a tempory, until you can afford your own gear

Even then a real scammer will not care much about that he/she has to reroll...A grade is worth so much, that some people wouldn't mind rerolling cause of deleveling.
Giving gear to clannies earned by the clan stays a simple state of trust in a virtual world, where some players take advantage from sadly.

yes very true, and it wasn't like they just signed me up and gave me the gear, it was a process and they had to get to know me first :), best clan in game for sure.
My own clan has various pieces of armour and weapons (none A grade - not got that much Adena :p) which can be LOANED to a clan member on the understanding that it is just that, it must be taken care of, not changed in anyway (no enchanting in case it blows, in which case you are now in debt) and that it is returned upon changing level or leaving. These are only loaned in certain situations also. It is expected that a clan member will try to obtain their own weapons and armour first.
It is unlikely that any clan would give A grade completely for free.

That really depends on a lot of things. How long your friend is in the clan, if he contributes to the clan, etc.
When I was a clan leader I made sure that my clan mates were able to trade in their
D grade armor or robes for Composite Armor or some sort of corresponding robe. This was usually done for people who had proven their loyalty.
A lot of clans raid and then keep/split whole armor or weapon drops.
Heck... yesterday we raided Orpen and I actually won the die rolls for the Orphen Earring!
So, it is possible. My thought has always been not to take large gifts unless you are willing to stick it out with the clan. If you do take them then give them back if your contribution was not equal to the gift in question.
It's highly unlikely to get it JUST got joining and JUST for hitting 61. Nothing would stop people from joining, getting gear and just leaving . At least, even clans I've been with 6+ months haven't given me entire sets of A grade, that's just silly IMO.
hmmm i see...was there a rival clan there also? raid farmers? i only ask these questions because i'm sick of regular raid bosses :), i put a post in here last week about antharas and got all the info i needed on him, also what is the spawn time, like a week? and also is it the same as the antqueen?(i've never done the antqueen, but i was down around her guards just to see if i could see her...and i couldn't get close)

was this on an alt? or like was it with your main? cause i thought orphen was in the 40's 50's?
You are correct young sir. I was on my Main but my job was to take care of the minions. I never hit Orphen.
stats on the earing?
:
Well, I'm at work so this is off the top of my head:
71 mdef (need to plus that up a bit to make it really worth it)
40% chance to withstand Bleed and, er ... something else which I can't remember. I think the bleed was of more interest to me at the time.
Oh.. and it's blue.
edit: oh.. and an additional 30 mana points. That will come in handy when I sneeze.
if you look at the larger clans/allys taht do major bosses, like orphen, antharas and such, the bosses that do drop full items, then you can see how clans can afford to outfit their players in top gear, and then the next time they the gear it goes to another clan in the ally, or sold for adena, and that adena is then used to OE weapons and buy gear for clanies... i wish i wish i was rich :'(
Edit: I'm not fixing grammer or spelling cause i don't care that much.
People that join clans expecting (or demanding) gear suck. The only thing I've ever asked of my current clan is help EXPing (even though a majority of it is still alone) and first shot at buying an item (if someone has it). They've given me stuff for attending raids (mats). I would never expect or demand any gear, ever.
However, if they have a spare majestic circlet laying around... :p
I agree.... never expect anything from a clan other then good team work and fun playing.
In my little clan I'v leand what ever I can to my clan mates but its only D, C and a few B grade, but its better then nothing.
I only do this to ppl I trust.
Anyway, personally I think there is something satisfying earning all my adena my self. I'v never borrowed anything form any one I know because I'v always had enough for full D, C and B-grade..... but A-grade :( thats **** hard, but well I guess I'll get it some day.
Actually I would rather have a homu +10 +acu with a nice glow for like 90-100kk then having a SoM +3 +Acu for 200kk :)
So it's actually "only" the A-grade DC set I'm working to get adena for :)
in the remnants of the clan i was in since prelude we share gear all the time. we are even on opposite sides and still share gear :) i even got to use a +10 homu for awhile :D
Only thing I have to say is don't join a clan just because they offer you gear. It's much more important to be in a clan with players who have the same goals as you and like to have fun. If you join just for the gear you may be required to do thing you don't want to do. I also know a couple people who joined clans because they were offered gear as insintive. When they reached the lvl for the new gear they were told to give the leader thier old gear first. After they did it the leader kicked them and kept all thier gear. If you dont know this clan was on Teon but folded a long time ago because we pk'd the heck out of them for doing this to people.

That's really sad to hear such thing about a clan leader ripping of it's members that way. But unfortunatly there are some like that out there in the game.
On the subject of clans and gear, I must agree with what's been said her that you shouldn't take a clan as your resource to your needs (a bank in other words) but as a group of people teaming up together to have fun and reach the goals they have set for their toons more easilly then solo.
A clan is a community of 'friends' IMO and new joiners of a clan should not expect that a clan will gear them up. In my clan I help out whenever I can (be it with gear or with basic mats to craft gear). But I will never lure people in with a promise of getting gear. That's no proper way, first of all and it gives the joiner the idea he will always get what he wants just like that. In the end I've often heard about people who were lured in that way, that the price they had to pay was rather high and the fun of the game low...
So basically all these comments boil down to one simple fact:
Join a clan because you like the team of people it regroups, if not...Search for one that matches your goals and playstyle ;)
